STEPHANIE LEIGH SCHLUND CAST AS CASHMERE IN LIONSGATE’S THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

Santa Monica, CA, August 14, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire are pleased to announce that Stephanie Leigh Schlund has been cast in the role of Cashmere in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former Career tribute from District 1, Cashmere and her brother Gloss are both competing in the Quarter Quell.

Stephanie Leigh Schlund is an Atlanta, Georgia based actress who has appeared in television series including Drop Dead Diva, and films including The Last Song. She can next be seen in the upcoming Fox series The Following, premiering this Fall.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark.   Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

Lionsgate will release The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on November 22, 2013.

Do they plan to include every teen heartthrob in this pathetic trilogy...

Georgia, you say? I'm stalking her at this very moment. Lol.

@kaaldrogo so you're saying we have to endure 3 more pieces of crap...GREATTTT!! I swear, it's one thing to adapt an epic trilogy (LotR) into 3 movies, it's a whole other thing for a teenage book trilogy not once (Twilight Saga) but twice (THG), and split up the last book into 2 movies just to make more money mind you. Peter Jackson made Return of the King over 3 hours long and the extended cut over 4 hours long, but he didn't split it up into 2 movies just to make more money.

Hunger Games was a great film.
I like how they prefer to cast mostly unknowns or lesser-known actors. It's a nice change :D

Hmm didn't know so many people hated The Hunger games so much here. Its not like it was the worst movie of the year and is not as bad as the twilight series as people keep on saying.

It had great acting, the set designs were amazing, the story was good (I even cried) and it had action. It was the first of a trilogy, so of course the action was small because its setting up the story.

The movie was a let down compared to the book and a lot of people read it.

Hunger Games wasn't a bad movie. But they cut out so much it was like watching a music video. The book was almost 400 pages.

Unlike many of the other casting choices, I'm not bewildered by this one. She looks like a "career".

She doesn't exactly look like a fighter, but maybe she'll beef up a bit.

@kaaldrogo, I hope they do split the last movie, because the book was pretty freaky. Maybe it's better to take it in doses.

legolad,

What year is it for you?

Peter Jackson HAS split his movies to make more money - his two Hobbit movies are magically becoming three.

Maybe you should spend less time complaining the "crap" you don't even like and just follow the stories about the "crap" you do like.

You'll be a much happier person as a result.

Cheers.
