Warner Bros. have been developing a Twilight Zone feature film for some time. After directors Michael Bay (Transformers) and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) were being considered for the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced movie, Cloverfield's Matt Reeves was signed on to helm the project with the studio hoping to put it into production this summer. However, The Twilight Zone had a major bump in development after Reeves dropped out to direct Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, which was the last we've heard on the film until now. In their feature about upcoming time travel movies, Vulture have revealed our first idea on the Twilight Zone film's plot. According to the site, the movie "follows a test pilot who winds up breaking the speed of light; when he puts down his craft, he discovers that he’s landed a bit late for supper — 96 years late (past or future?)." So this film will use time travel as a jumping point similar to many of the television series' episodes.

Speaking of upcoming science fiction films, we also have some new plot details for another WB-distributed project. Transcendence will be the directorial debut of Wally Pfister (cinematographer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy and Inception), and Johnny Depp was recently reported to star. Noomi Rapace (Prometheus), Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) and James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) have all been said to be considered for roles in the film, and Nolan is executive producing. The Wrap report that Transcendence (which has a budget of $120M) is currently being shopped to international buyers at the American Film Market. In their article reporting the news, the site include some new plot info for the film. "The story follows three scientists, attempting work on stem cell and advanced computer technology, which will change the fundamentals of human life. Tension comes into play when they are met by protest and resistance." Filming is expected to commence in February 2013.

"follows a test pilot who winds up breaking the speed of light; when he puts down his craft, he discovers that he’s landed a bit late for supper — 96 years late (past or future?)."

So it's like The Langoliers?

Except in the Langoliers they were only a few minutes behind the real world so no one existed except them and the things eating away the past. This sounds more like he goes on a test flight, lands, and its 96 years in either the past or the future.

High profile cast rumor for Transcendence.

But I wont be watching cuz he's an opinionated hack and he talked bad stuff about Avengers. So I'm not gonna watch his movie. Well, if Depp is in it I will, but I already know he's gonna be the only good part, cuz, whatever his name is an opinionated hack, and TDKR was dissapointing and,...cuz Whedon is better than Nolan. Firefly.

There was a twilight zone episode where a 727 breaks the sound barrier (somehow) and the whole plane time travels back to the dinosaur age. LOL
It's so ridiculous, but still a great episode.

I always hoped they would make another Twilight Zone television show, to showcase some new writer's ideas.

Oh well

I wonder how much make-up he's gonna wear in this movie?
jj2112 - 11/3/2012, 12:21 PM
Not very original... There is an episode in the original series in which a pilot from WWI lands in the sixties, and in another one an airliner ends up in prehistoric times. There should be something more to the plot to make it worthy of a movie.
DioFoRio - 11/3/2012, 12:22 PM
@Kamen...yeah it should be called twilight zone...If..IF it was an anthology..but just one story seems like a missed opportunity
CaptainObvious - 11/3/2012, 12:37 PM
@ELgUaSoN- Admit it. You are only against the movie because Pfister didn't like The Avengers.
PistonSmash - 11/3/2012, 12:37 PM
leave the twilight zone alone

@Fettastic: V/H/S is 2 good stories and 4 that vary from shitty to average. Unfortunately, the good ones are the first and last.

That said, I am so [frick]ing sick of hand held camera movies.

Morgan Freeman should play rod serlings part.

Ok!

Transcendence is NOT TRON : Rehash.

As lots of Marvel-fans were quick to point out as the news broke that it's about a man who goes inside of a computer or whatever!
It's more!
& did anyone expect that Nolan will let Wally make a 100 Million$ SciFi under his name & WB & it's got a shitty rehashed script!!
No!

Really hope Depp, Bale & McAvoy are in & end product is great!
DioFoRio - 11/3/2012, 11:53 PM
@Capt....too soo....Aww nevermind.
DioFoRio - 11/3/2012, 11:59 PM
Dude the twilight zone movie was awesome when it came out. And for it not being like the show.....the movie just re-did most of the famous ones....or as far as I can remember
IronLantern79 - 11/4/2012, 1:26 AM
I've been waiting for another Twilight Zone film for awhile now. All these re-make TV versions, it's time for a new movie.

^Agreed. Personally looking forward to seeing more Twilight Zone, I wasn't born during the era of either the original or 80's series but my family and I would always catch a marathon on Syfy, so this series is pretty nostalgic for me.

I don't mind shows like this being brought back since they're all original stories anyway so it's not like there will be characters to ruin or plotlines to skew and trample on. As long as they manage to capture the feel of the original then it's fine. Just hope it turns better than that early 2000 version... cuz yeah, that sucked.
