By Paul Romano - 12/21/2012
It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Many thanks to @_NerdyGeek_ for the heads up.

The Dark Knight Rises is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD.

OMG stop being so desperate for awards, The Master, Lincoln, and Life of Pi! It's pathetic!
jasonicus - 12/21/2012, 8:03 AM
They are shameless. Begging like dogs for a movie that wasn't very good.
Charlie2094 - 12/21/2012, 8:06 AM
Every studio with a decent film does the exact same thing! You talking about desperation have no idea what you're on about. Maybe you didn't like it, but it was a huge critical and financial success, so WB's have every reason to be pushing for awards like every other studio.
KaneVonDoom - 12/21/2012, 8:08 AM
This is like a Fancy Feast commercial.
SageMode - 12/21/2012, 8:08 AM
Another one? LMAO..........
RedeyeJedi - 12/21/2012, 8:09 AM
@TheYoungMan- Don't be so damn naive dude. There's a difference between putting out a poster of this type and putting one out every f*cking week.
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 8:09 AM
@Charlie2094 Shhhhhhhh! They still don't know that is was incredibly well recieved... Just let them be happy.

holy shit they beg for an oscar :/

I guess some people don't understand the concept of Marketing.
ISleepNow - 12/21/2012, 8:16 AM
Apologies to Sir Michael but that bu11shit scene isnt earning anyone any oscars
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 8:19 AM
You guys think TDKR is the most active player in FYC because comicbookmovie.com is the only website you look at. Argo, Life of Pi, ZDT, Les Mis, etc put out WAY more ads. They just don't gey posted here because they aren't CBMovies. So, who's being naive? If you're going to comment on Oscar campaigns, know your shit first.
Charlie2094 - 12/21/2012, 8:19 AM
@TheYoungMan

I know! They all act like it's obviously an awful film, whereas its been very well received.

@RedeyeJedi

The only reason you're seeing one every week is because this is a CBM! Sure other movies have more than one, they're just CBM's so don't have a place on this site. WB have every reason to push for awards, which is why they're doing it. But for a CBM, they have to push harder than for the likes of The Master which is a more obvious consideration.
RedeyeJedi - 12/21/2012, 8:21 AM
@TheYoungMan- Okay...thanks for making my point for me. The only movie with more posters than TDKR is ROTG and that one looks pretty lame and desperate also. What were you trying to say exactly?
Dev7 - 12/21/2012, 8:23 AM
Sound Editing and Cinematography is all that I can see this movie getting nominated for.
Charlie2094 - 12/21/2012, 8:27 AM
I've seen at least 4 posters for Argo. You all acting like it's only TDKR doing this proves you know nothing. This is just basic marketing, everyones doing it! You just only see TDKR because you must only visit CBM.
Preston - 12/21/2012, 8:28 AM
The worst thing about this move was the screen play. Written by people with complete disdain for the source material.

I'm a huge Michael Cain and Batman Begins fan. The Dark Knight was salvaged for me by Ledger and Eckhart.

W.B.'s petitioning for awards on behalf of The Dark Knight Rises however, is a serious case of over-aggrandizing what was little more than your average gritty CBM and the weakest of the trilogy.

When I read their petitions, I'm reminded of how much the film fell short for me on so many levels.

I'd like to see Cain or Hathaway be awarded.
Dev7 - 12/21/2012, 8:29 AM
@cipher, LOL

Man people actually believe in this 2012 end of the world Bull Shit.
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 8:32 AM
2 of the TDKR ones were GG, and i didn't count that as an Oscar ad. I'm pretty sure Argo, Arbitrage, Moonrise Kingdom, ZDT, and Life of Pi have more last time i checked? But TDKR should be up there anyway since it's one of those "borderline" movies trying to sneak in the last couple spots.
RedeyeJedi - 12/21/2012, 8:32 AM
@cipher- I know, right? I drank all the booze in my house for nothing. Also, I have to my girlfriend's sister and apologize for last night. Stupid Mayans...

TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 8:33 AM
@Preston Why would the accuracy to the comics effect the quality of the screenplay?
Scooby - 12/21/2012, 8:37 AM
I guess some people don't understand how the Academy Awards work . . .
Shamo - 12/21/2012, 8:43 AM
no.
kevberg - 12/21/2012, 8:45 AM
an abysmal over-hyped letdown is all TDKR was.
DennisNedry - 12/21/2012, 8:45 AM
The Mayan's aren't at fault; those that falsely interpreted the Mayans are.

The Mayans depicted the end of an age, not the world.

As a DIEHARD Batman fan, it's the biggest offence in my opinion. However, the screenplay has problems of it's own. Here is a humorous video (with Kevin Smith) that touches on the various plot-holes of the movie:

A screenplay with this many problems doesn't deserve to be considered for anything. I know that some Nolan Fans have made their own assumptions to plug up the plot holes, but they are all invalid.

As Nerdyman81 stated on another article, "It was just a poorly conceived movie..DONE! That was easier than I thought! If you look hard enough at anyone's "answers" to the questions of these obvious plot holes, and the garbage writing, you'll see that their answers that are "so obvious" are all assumption. Nothing in this movie gives any reason for anyone to believe what they say about why certain things happened. They can assume all they want, but the fact of the matter is that they use it to explain away this disappointing "Batman" outing. I could make assumptions all day long about crappy movies to make them make more sense, but at the end of the day, if it isn't explained in the movie itself, that's all that's left...ASSUMPTIONS! Not trying to start a fight here, just pointing out that simple fact."

toiletbowl - 12/21/2012, 8:51 AM
This is a movie series not a comic series that can last forever. What kind of conclusion would it be if bruce continue becoming batman. Theres no closure in that. Batman comics will live on til we die and til our great great great great great grand children die.
Scooby - 12/21/2012, 8:52 AM
Kevin Smith talking about plot holes - LOL!
ACira - 12/21/2012, 8:53 AM
Have they released one for the soundtrack yet? Because I honestly think it's the only one it deserves a nomination for and I think it should win that one as well. As much as I disliked the film and was left disappointed by it, Hans Zimmer's score was beautiful, and may well have been one of his best, and he absolutely deserves it.
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 8:55 AM
@Preston It's true that there are no plot holes. Things that aren't explained, there a few instances of that. But no contradictions in the plot, if that's what you mean. And you know what? Not everything needs to be explained. That's also true. And ya, Nerdyman81 isn't convincing me that the screenplay just turned to crap since the last time i watched the movie :)
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 9:27 AM
You don't need to accept it, DangerStranger. Believe whatever makes you feel better. I've seen all the attempts to find contradictions and holes. And not a single one holds up. But that's as far as i'm going with this "been there done that" subject. Now go "LOL" your way to happiness.
:)
Azazel1 - 12/21/2012, 9:28 AM
ALL studios release these posters -I was in LA last week and saw tons of them for Linclon and ARGO
HavocPrime - 12/21/2012, 9:31 AM
I like they have used Alfreds plot bomerang on the poster, awesome writing there, didnt expect that to come back at all in the movie
DennisNedry - 12/21/2012, 9:31 AM
@DangerStranger: I agree the fighting style though with less of the ineffective Wing Chun blitzing.
Azazel1 - 12/21/2012, 9:52 AM
@dangerstranger-Still crying I see because of TDKR's popularity?

Stop whining and be a man..
rockerdude22 - 12/21/2012, 9:56 AM
I honestly could care less about awards. If I like and enjoy a film, then that's good enough for me!

Also lol at the Mayan Apocalypse thing. Me and my buddies were at a bar last night and kept joking about it. We saw an ambulance drive by at one point and that "It's the end of the world as we know it" song played in the bar. Fun evening haha
Darth258 - 12/21/2012, 9:57 AM
@HavocPrime: Exactly what i was thinking. Those are great way to ruin a movie ending. That and "Only you can fix the outopilot" boomerang.

And i agree with DangerStranger on the poor fighting stunts, really not worty.
Azazel1 - 12/21/2012, 10:01 AM
@dangerstranger-Your 10 man vs 1 fight video you posted is ridiculous.

So lets see that dude do that with a full armoured Batsuit on a narrow bridge with an apponent in front of him who literally feels no pain and is fully trained.

Those guys in the video could have easily defeated that dude anyway if they had attacked him simutaneously but strangely enough they waited for the most part 1 by 1 by 1 by 1..
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 10:02 AM
Except Twilight is trashed by critics and audience, whereas the Dark Knight films are highly acclaimed. Doh! You are the ones in your own little world.

Are they all blind too? Maybe it's time you look in the mirror, and accept the fact that you are in a very lonely minority. And there's nothing wrong with being in a minority, btw. But there IS something wrong if you can't recognize it.
Darth258 - 12/21/2012, 10:08 AM
@Azazel1: So the crowd of criminals could have easyly filled Batsie's body with lead but strangely enough they just hit him with those rifles.
That, my friend, is ridiculous.
DennisNedry - 12/21/2012, 10:13 AM
@TheYoungMan: Let's be realistic in our reasoning. All CBM's have plot holes if we scrutinize enough. The holes and contradictions to be found in TDKR are well documented and have achieved consensus. The same applies to The Avengers and mostly all other CBM's. It's irrational to deny this.

@Azazel1: Firstly, I'm pretty sure DangerStranger is a fan of The Avengers film. Considering TDKR lost to The Avengers in the Box Office (a film's marker of popularity) your statement makes little sense. Why would someone cry/whine if from their perspective, they "won" and you, conversely, "lost"?

Secondly, you know a debater has drastically lost and privately conceded when the best they can offer are ad hominen attacks. Would it not be better to combat the comment instead of the commenter? Surely, you'll admit that TDKR is not void of a single plot hole.
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 10:14 AM
@Darth I don't know if i'd call that rediculous. It's actually pretty low on the long list of things in the trilogy that wouldn't happen in real life.
TheYoungMan - 12/21/2012, 10:18 AM
@Dennis I haven't found one, and i'm sorry if your "consensus" that you came up with (can you link me to that consensus pls, btw?) here on CBM.com thinks otherwise.
