Charlie Hunnam In Talks To Join Guillermo Del Toro's CRIMSON PEAK

It was recently reported that Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) is in talks to star in Del Toro's next horror movie, and now we have the news that Charlie Hunnam is in negotiations to re-team with his Pacific Rim director for the film.

Earlier this week, we learned that Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man, Gangster Squad) entered talks for the female lead in Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak. The director recently committed to the haunted house film as his follow-up to this summer's sci-fi blockbuster Pacific Rim. Now, we have word on who may be taking on the male lead. According to Variety, Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam - who just worked with del Toro on Pacific Rim - is in negotiations to re-team with the director on the movie. Plot details are currently under wraps. Del Toro and Matthew Robbins wrote the script, while Lucinda Coxon recently did a rewrite. Crimson Peak will be produced by Legendary Pictures, who will also be a participating financing partner. A February 2014 production start date is being targeted. I like Guillermo. He is probably a nice person. His movies have been great I liked both Hellboy movies.

i mean isn't del toro loaded? he makes good movies, im sure the guy has the funds to make the damn final HB movie? or does he not want to lose money, i mean wtf? someone has money stashed somewhere?

Levi@ You'll get it eventually, duder. As soon as he proves himself to be a surefire bet as a director, with Pacific Rim, he'll have a better chance of doing Hellboy 3 and ATMOM. If nobody will give him a budget for either of these, he will fund them himself as vanity projects.
Personally, I'm stil hoping for Dark Universe. If that never happens, he'll just let it never happen. That one is in WBs hands alone. They just need that script.

He should definitely get together Hellboy 3, before ATMOM. But he'd have to put in most of the money, himself at this stage. Sounds like an expensive apocalyptic one. In fact, it sounds friggin' awesome. Maybe a petition to the company is in order. Who would that be, Universal? Lawrence Gordon? Thye need to know that more people would go see Hellboy 3 than went to see Hellboy II.
Although, if Pacific Rim does really, really well, then I think he'll be able to choose his next project and they'll give him a decent-sized budget for it. And I'd bet Hellboy 3 would be first on his list.

jesse@ I mean, I would hope that Hellboy's fan base has increased, since then. And it does seem to have. Del Toro's fanbase has increased a lot, since then, too. Comics and cbm fans have also increased a huge amount, since then and I'm sure most of them wouldn't mind seeing another Hellboy, now. In fact, I wonder if Del Toro's even tried to sell H3, since the success of The Avengers and TDKR?

@levi, you have to see it from all sides, inflation you don't necissatilly make more money, first off with ticket prices being so expensive, a lot more people are not going to go unless its something they think is worth the ticket price. Ron Perlman nor hellboy is a mass market product. What's the draw? Who's going to go see this movie besides comic and syfy fans? Next u have the fact that everyone that saw the previous want to see another, I personally didn't think either one was that good and wouldn't waste my time or money again. There is interest in a third hellboy but only to one market and today that's just not enough of a pull. There are many factors into it. But first and foremost it's a business. And you have to think of it that way. Just because you want it or are a fan of it doesn't mean every one else does too

@duke, maybe it has, but remember, the mass public doesn't go to the movies to watch all of one directors work. People know the hip marvel characters right now, people know batman, that's an easy draw. Hellboy is a no name to the common folk. Even the name alone turns parents into saying no to taking their kids to see it, who is part of the comic market draw

Kind of a hard sell, really. He'd have much better luck with a film about Constantine (who people know from the Keanu Reeves movie) and Swamp Thing as a part of the new DC Cinematic Universe. Especialy if he threw in a reference to the Justice League.

Very hard to sell, and that's a big prob with the market. This is why transformers is highly frowned upon on this site. It was made and marketed for everyone, not just its typical fans, and the typical fans are back lashing because of it. But now it's also mainstream and like by everyone. To get hellboy to make that kind of cash they would have to do the same thing, and the end product might be the same outcome as transformers.
