THE WOLVERINE Grosses $4M In Thursday Night Showings; New Promo Banner Released
20th Century Fox's The Wolverine is well on its way to earning at least $65-70M in its opening weekend, with the Hugh Jackman-starrer grossing $4 million at Thursday night showings. We also have a new promo banner for the film.
One of the final summer blockbusters of the year, The Wolverine, finally opened late last night. The latest Marvel Comics adaptation from 20th Century Fox, which sees Hugh Jackman return to the role of the most popular X-Man, was predicted earlier this week to gross $75-80M in its opening weekend, but is now on course for a lower (but still solid) $65-70M debut. The James Mangold-directed Japanese-set installment earned a strong $4M in Thursday night showings starting at 10 PM. The Wolverine (which has a budget of $120M or less) is expected to do even better overseas, and is available in multiple locations now. Reviews have been decent, with a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 129 reviews). For comparison, 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine earned a mere 38% on the site based on 252 reviews, and grossed $373M worldwide after a $5M midnight debut and $85M opening weekend. Do you plan on seeing The Wolverine this weekend?
