You really have too many great action and visual directors to choose from.

I'm leaning towards Zack, based on on Watchmen, and Sucker Punch, (Wait to see how he handles Superman) But Del Toro was great with Hellboy. Jackson is also visually and conceptually able to produce outstanding fantacy genre work.

I think the biggest thing is to not take it too far to the realm of reality. JL needs a good balanace of groundedness but still have the scope and magnitude required for these heroes and universe. Each of them is different, and you really have to capture those differences.

This is a harder job than Marvel's Avengers because the Avengers is a more humanized team. The scope and magnitude is smaller.

Tough Choices....Tough Choices in deed

I voted JJ, but now I regret it. Can you imagine Ridley Scott directing thi? He'd probably never do it. It would be lowering himself. But can you imagne it? hat would be awesome.
Especially if Starro is n there somewhere. He did the best ever Starro in Prometheus.

This is just one of those, "I'll throw a bunch of stuff against the wall and see what sticks." posts.

I do not see any of the biggest name directors being involved: no Peter Jackson, no Cameron, no Abrams, no Scott. It remains to be determined on Snyder...we have to see what he does with Man of Steel first. But even then, there is no guarantee the studio will want him to helm it. It could be some choice out of left field the way Joss was picked for Avengers which many people were skeptical of when it was first announced.

The Cameron who directed Aliens yes. Not todays Cameron. Proyas-lol! Scott-would be like a fish out of water.
Only 2 people have directed a superhero team movie well, Snyder and Whedon. Though some including Whedon believe Watchmen should not have been a movie, it was and it was directed very well.

But the super hero movie Bubble showed signs of bursting last year, when X-Men 1st class, Thor, Cap, and GL all failed to hit 200 million in the US. Spideys not doing so great right now.

By 2015, Superhero films will not be a hot genre.

You got to be kidding me!! how can Darren Aronofsky have only 24 votes and Alex Proyas only 4 votes!!!! do you people want to see a GREAT Justice League movie or just average Justice League movie?? clearly this poll said you want an average movie.

JJ abrams does GREAT film/tv work. He's got enough experience for this, and like the editorial said: he is great in CGI-heavy epics and can flesh out most, if not all, the characters in a movie. Superman, Aquaman, MM, WW, and Green lantern will DEFINITLY need CGI and about half of those need to be fleshed out during the movie! Hes a great choice, no disrespect to Petter or Cameron of course.

@WallyWestNAM - I have said that about other properties as well...I actually wrote a post about it. For example The option to make "BLEACH" a live action series - ugh would ruin it forever.

I like the Idea of motion capture or full CGI in the line of cinematic cut scenes from the likes of Mass Effect 3. The DCUO intro movies aren't bad either. I love the flow and look...but would say with a full length movie the production would have to be better. I do think it's possible and given the "absurdity" of the movie and the characters you could do anything...anywhere.

I think the point that people make about Watchmen and Beowulf is that the films were well made...but the stories may have been weak or just uninteresting.

So many would be great, but I wanna see SAM RAIMI do this!

Really hard to choose from all these great directors
Maximus101 - 8/17/2012, 2:27 PM
Snyder all day
ComicsBornAndBred - 8/17/2012, 2:38 PM
Abrams or Snyder. I like the look and feel of Star Trek. That would equate greatly with the JL film. Give it that scifi tone. Snyder is great with action though, not to say Abrams isnt. Either guy would be grear. But i wouldnt want Snyder directing the Superman films and the JL films. Thats like Faverau or Shane Black directing Iron Man and the Avengers. A director should be set just for the JL movies. But, he should be able to look over the heroes solo films, produce and consult.
ComicsBornAndBred - 8/17/2012, 2:40 PM
Cameron and Scott would never direct these films. Im throwing Affronsky in the mix. I likee him. He showed interest in directing Batman, although his idea was a little weird. Directing wise, he could give the JL movie a dark realistic tone.
DylansMyDog - 8/17/2012, 3:33 PM
Steven Soderbergh
mawilli4 - 8/17/2012, 3:48 PM
Abrams for Guardians of the Galaxy
Jackson for Justice League
ThePowerCosmic - 8/17/2012, 6:46 PM
Whoever voted Cameron is not a Justice League fan!
Facade - 8/17/2012, 7:29 PM
Synder and Cavill haven't done anything with MOS, yet. If it turns out to be a turd like GL (or Sucker Punch), then there will be a lot of back peddling go on here.

I'd like a separate universe from MOS and GL. RECAST both for JL! And NO 52! Classic look or nothing.

My vote is Jackson or Abrams.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/17/2012, 7:50 PM
Snyder FTW
Zordan - 8/17/2012, 8:57 PM

SuperPickle - 8/18/2012, 7:46 AM
I voted Jackson. First off, keep Cameron the hell away. He's a technically gifted director but he sucks at character and plot development. The only movie he's ever made that had me giving a damn about the characters was Aliens. With an ensemble cast and epic story to tell, Jackson was the first name that stuck out.

No to Yates. If WB wants to go with a bit of a darker, grittier tone, stay away from family film directors. Big fat no to Aronofsky and Del Toro because their styles are too much like Burton's. They change up source material and adapt it to their own styles too much.

Whedon's Avengers showed us it's possible to do a damn faithful adaptation without straying too far from the look and feel of the comics. Actually, I'd say Singer did it first with the first two X-Men movies. But Whedon pulled off the impossible, in my opinion. He showed us that Justice League CAN happen, and in that regard, I'm glad Marvel did it first, because I've always been a bigger fan of DC and it pleases me to know WB didn't take that risky first step into the superhero team epic genre. Now that we know it can happen, DC can improve on the model. Hopefully.
SuperPickle - 8/18/2012, 7:47 AM
@ThePowerCosmic - LOL! Too true.
WallyWestNAM - 8/18/2012, 9:22 AM
@Halden I'm glad you agree, for me it just seems like with the Avengers taking place in actual places like New York and Calcutta and Tony Stark being so realistically portrayed, live action works because its almost believable (almost lol). But the Justice League aren't as light-hearted and down to earth like the Avengers, most of them aren't far from being Gods and they take things much more seriously because their threats are usually on a God-like scale.

I like the CGI idea also because with costumes and casting, it gives you a little more freedom.

Plus I have some great casting ideas, actor's who could wholeley embody the characters, but maybe don't look quite enough like the characters; not the right height, right eye color, build, whatever, but would still nail the role down to a tee. With just minor tweaks to make Wonder Woman the tall distinguised built woman she is, to make the Martian a towering stoic alien, to keep the actors the age they should be and the proportions they should be in relation to eachother, that animation style would look beautiful.

MY JUSTICE LEAGUE:
Superman - Joe Manganiello
Batman - Eric Bana
Wonder Woman - Jennifer Connolly
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - Nathan Fillion
The Flash (Barry Allen) - Neil Patrick Harris
The Martian Manhunter - Lawrence Fishburn
Aquaman - Sean Bean

What are your thoughts?
Groge511 - 8/18/2012, 10:40 AM
Voted Snyder but would also be happy with Peter Jackson or J.J.Abrams.
backup - 8/18/2012, 1:52 PM
Chris nolan?
xstryker - 8/18/2012, 3:59 PM
Timur Bekmanbur or however you spell it.
Audders - 9/1/2012, 6:26 PM
Totally agree with # 2 on the list.
As for directors. . . I hope for the best!!
AlphaDean - 9/8/2012, 10:06 PM
I voted somebody else. Why because any of those directors left to their craft would be amazing. But this is warner brothers we're talking about. The suits over in that camp don't understand real comic adaptions and they would never let any of these guys off the chain to make this film as epic as it needs to be.
ladylady - 12/15/2012, 11:08 PM
I'd choose Peter Jackson or Zack Snyder. :)))
