Batmaniac's Opinion On The Comic-Con Announcements
What I thought about the comic book movie announcements at this year's Comic-Con and what I'm pleased and disappointed with.
So I've been on vacation for the last couple of weeks during the Comic-Con announcements so I never gave my thoughts on the announcements when the rest of you guys did, so I'm going to do that now. Lets start with what I consider the bad news and then we will get on to what I consider the good news.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Let me just start by saying that Hank Pym is on of my favorite comic book characters, so now you could probably imagine my reaction to finding out Hank Pym WILL NOT be the creator of Ultron. My heart sunk and I'm completely disappointed in this direction. Call me a fanboy all you want but Hank Pym SHOULD be Ultron's maker in the MCU.
Now at this point I'm not sure who will be the creator of Ultron but I don't care if it isn't Hank Pym. I will promise one thing though... If Tony Stark turns out to be Ultron's maker in the MCU, I will be extremely pissed. I was cool with changing Scar... I mean Wanda & Pietro's origins for the movie and I was starting to warm up to the fact that this is the second Avengers movie without Black Panther, Wasp or Ant-Man/Hank Pym. But this, for me, was a step to far. I just hope this doesn't turn into the Tony Stark show.
Guardians of the Galaxy
A big surprise for me was seeing how cool GOTG looks. I was actually quite pleased with the turn out so far. Now I'm still skeptical about the movie itself but there really is no denying it does look like to be shaping u pretty good. Initially I had no faith in Batista in the role as Drax but after seeing him in the Nova Corp System poster, I've started to have faith. He really does look the part. The only question now is can he play the part? I hope so. Not only was I impressed with Drax, I was impressed with the rest of the team (especially Star-Lord's helmet).
After finding out where the other part of the MCU is going, I'm looking forward to GOTG the most from Marvel Studios. Now that is a surprise to me since I had no interest or faith in GOTG of before but the tables have turned. I'm looking forward to seeing the Guardian's kick all kinds of ass next year and I'm looking forward to see where Marvel Studios take the cosmic side of the MCU. I just hope the movie isn't saturated with comedy as I feel it could flourish the best with the more with the sci-fi epic approach.
I'm going to keep this short because I can sum up how I feel about this in a word, but I'm gonna give you a paragraph. Batman/Superman live action movie is a dream come true and after the Man Of Steel (which I adore btw), I have complete faith in Goyer and Snyder to deliver the movie I want to see. I'm still finding it hard to grasp the the fact that this is actually happening and 2015 couldn't get here any faster!
X-Men: Days Of Future Past
Now I haven't seen The Wolverine yet but regardless of how that is, I'm extremely looking forward to DOFP. The old cast and the new cast in one movie was enough to get me into the cinema, but after watching the panel and hearing about the footage shown, I'm pumped. I'm impatiently waiting for the trailer to drop for this movie and I sincerely hope they don't take their time about it like they did with The Wolverine.
Oh and this is beyond EPIC!
As for everything else, I wasn't really moved at all. The Winter Soldier and The Dark World sound good, but nothing amazing. Still, I'll be viewing both of them in the cinema since I did regret not seeing Thor in the cinema when it was out. As for TASM 2, I have lost interest after seeing what I consider cheesey footage with Jamie Foxx's Electro. I have no doubt it will be a hit next year, but I doubt I'll be queuing up to see it within its first week of release.
I'm sure Wright & Snyder will bring the heat with Ant-Man and Batman/Superman next year at Comic-Con. I hope Wright can do Hank Pym & Ant-Man justice considering Whedon clearly has no interest in the character or the lore tied to the character. Bring on the MCU Cosmic and bring on the DCCU!
