Sylvester Stallone Dishes on The Expendables

Sly talks about shooting the "$15 billion" scene between himself, Schwarzenegger and Willis!
Any self-avowed fan of action movies has to be counting the minutes until Sylvester Stallone's action extravaganza The Expendables debuts next summer. With nearly every action star of the 80s and 90s making an appearance (where's Jean-Claude Van Damme?), it's a literal who's who of testosterone flicks.

Stallone, who wrote and is directing The Expendables, in addition to starring in the film, recently shot one of the most-anticipated scenes in action movie history: the first time Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will share screen time together!

The scene, which takes place in a church and was filmed on a closed set, will only comprise approximately 5 minutes of film time, but it is bound to be memorable, if only for its significance to fans. Said Stallone:

"I was just looking at the dailies, saying, 'Jesus, this is amazing!' I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition."

In a recent phone interview with EW, Stallone gave a brief break-down of the scene:

"Bruce says 'Well, there’s one other person I want to talk to before I hire you,' and then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in. We have a history together. And we go back and forth and I tell him that I should have shot him a long time ago when I had the chance. Then it goes on from there. And here we are, the three of us trying to man up to one another, playing off of who we are, using our baggage in this one scene.

"It’s funny because between the three of us, if you add up all the box office and DVD rentals and all of that, there’s like $15 billion in that one scene!"

Oh, yeah, I forgot about Segal! I guess he was too paunchy for this film. Everyone else is still in incredible shape though!

Yep good article Brent! did not know these three would be sharing screen time together!? Now I'll be waiting for that moment! And it's sad that Damme and Seagal ain't having any part in this movie! ;)

No Van Damme, no Segal, no Kurt Russell, no Wesley Snipes, no FREAKING Chuck Norris, and no Megatron...

They're missing a few of the other great action stars, but the cast they have is still pretty damn stacked.

Maybe there will be a sequel.

Chuck Norris doesn't believe in an ensemble cast
MultiPurposePoni - 11/1/2009, 8:08 PM
Chuck Norris is his own ensemble cast!

Seriously though, this will if nothing less, be a nostalgia fest.
Phinehas - 11/1/2009, 10:16 PM
Yall are also forgetting Jackie Chan. And why dont they increase the budget and just bring Bruce Lee back to life!

alphageek79 - 11/1/2009, 10:28 PM
For God's SAKE Chuck Norris keeps Galactus at bay... He is way to busy..

But it would have been nice Segal and Van Damn were in ... JCVD was a great movie either way... I highly recommend it
