A new trailer for Crystal Sky Pictures' live-action adaptation of the popular Namco Tekken video game franchise has been released, even though the movie still does not have a U.S. release date. In this trailer, we are shown the reason why Jin Kazama (John Foo) decides to enter the Iron Fist Tournament and who his combatants will be!

Synopsis

Set in 2039, the film promises non-stop high flying action as the greatest fighters from around the world come to compete in the last and greatest sporting event of all time, the Fist Tournament. After World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, the remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.

We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a street fighter that enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon Tekken's powerful and controlling Chairman, Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament. With the help of Lucas, an aging Iron Fist Champion and fight trainer, Jin makes his way through the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.

Tekken also stars Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi Mishima, Gary Daniels as Bryan Fury, Luke Goss as Steve Fox, Lateef Crowder as Eddy Gordo, Cung Le as Marshall Law, Darrin Dewitt Henson as Raven, Gary Ray Stearns as Yoshimitsu, and Hyun-kyoon Lee as Hwoarang.

ROMACK - 8/6/2010, 3:12 AM
Meh. Never cared much for Tekken. It was alright IMO. What I want is a GOOD Mortal Combat movie. Hopefully based off the short film with Micheal Jai White. That looks like it could be a contender!

Personally, videogame movie wise, Prince of Persia ROCKED! And so did Silent Hill. So videogame movies CAN be good if they're INTENTIONALLY MADE GOOD! This movie looks decent at the very least. Especially for a tournement concept film. I'll snag it in the bargin bins just as i did with DOA.
TheGeekMan - 8/6/2010, 5:13 AM
It's gonna tank, like all other video game to movie, they seem to never really get right, they put to much stuff into it that it just ends up sucking...
CorndogBurglar - 8/6/2010, 5:22 AM
@ gambitfreak

actually, Silent Hill was a big budget movie that was advertised really well, and its still one of the very few video game movies. I'm not sure how you missed it, but it was out there.
