New Banner Poster and Trailer for Indie Superhero Short Fallen
Independent filmmaker Dan Marcus debuts a new banner poster and a new trailer for his superhero "passion project," Fallen!
Fallen is the story of beloved hero Ephraim (Brian Kavanaugh), who abandons the city he swore to protect. When a mysterious catastrophe rocks the city of Chicago, he must face the scared citizenry that cries out for his return, including a lone police officer (Errol McLendon), a tough vigilante (Andrew Staton), and a terrified boy (Harrison Boxley). Most of all, he must face Bethany (Heather Tyler), who may or may not be the villainness pulling the strings of Ephraim’s heart and the devastation that might annihilate the city.
A message from Dan Marcus:
Fallen is my love letter to superheroes. I wanted to give something back to a modern mythology that has given me so much in return. I wanted to stir up the same sense of excitement and wonder I would get when I sat down in the theater on a Friday evening waiting for that Marvel or WB/DC logo to come up. Fallen is the amalgamation of every superhero or comic-book story and movie that I've ever absorbed. It is my attempt to give my own take on a superhero, full of excitement, adventure, heart-ache, and wonder.
The trailer you see above was cut to give you an example and just a taste of the world of Fallen. There's a short film, and possibly feature-length film, that exists that taps into all of the exciting elements that you would want in a superhero movie. The film was made by people who love superheroes for people who love superheroes. We wanted Ephraim, the lead character, to embody parts of heroes you've seen before, and heroes you haven't. He's part-Indiana Jones, part-Batman, part-Wolverine, and part something else entirely. He isn't afraid to tell you to take a hike, but he's a deeply conflicted individual who isn't your typical superhero. He wants to be left alone, but he realizes his powers and abilities no longer make that an option. He doesn't yearn to save people, but when he's faced with someone who needs help, he cannot sit back and deny that person, either.
Hey, gang! If you've ever wanted to be a part of a movie production, here's your chance. Dan has been working on Fallen for three years now and he's very near completion, but he needs your help to see it through. Dan is trying to raise $15,000 to complete the movie and he is offering many incentives to those who contribute. If you are interested, head over to Fallen's IndieGoGo page. ~Brent
A message from Dan Marcus:
I believe we created something great, but the process to get Fallen from the page to the post-production phase to completion has not been an easy one. I made a ton of mistakes along the way, as a novice filmmaker who is constantly learning. I've spent years working on the film and trying to get it finished, but currently to no avail. At one point I had given up entirely on this film, but at the end of the day, I thought to myself, "Batman didn't give up when Bane broke his back", and Spider-Man didn't give up when he had to face all of the angsty crap he has to face on a daily basis.
The $15,000 will go to the hard-working individuals who worked on the film and didn't get paid. It will go to the various complex and intricate special effects. It will go to post-production costs to get the film completed so that it can be shown before all of you. That includes sound design, score, ADR, additional principal photography, editing and so on and so forth. Any remaining funds will go straight to publicity costs that include getting DVD's manufactured, film festival costs, and other such marketing costs. Most importantly, though, it will reimburse the people who worked tirelessly on the film with compensation. It will also hopefully show that the time spent on Fallen was not a waste and it is a project worth their time and yours.
