Marvel's 'Thor The Dark World' Makes It Onto IMDB's 'Top 10 Highest-Rated Films of 2013'

IMDB has compiled a list of the highest user rated films of 2013, and coming in at number eight on that list is The God Of Thunder himself

The people have spoken, and it seems like 8 is the magic number for Odinson. Not only is his realm hopping sequel a virtual lock for the 8th spot on the list of the highest grossing films of 2013, he has also placed number 8 on IMDB's highest user rated films of 2013 based on user ratings

Per IMDB:

"The top 10 highest-rated movies of 2013. These rankings are based on IMDb user ratings for films released in 2013 with at least 25,000 votes"

Gravity 8.4/10

Rush 8.3/10

Hunger Games Catching Fire 8.1/10

Before Midnight 8.1/10

Prisoners 8.1/10

Captain Phillips 8.1/10

Star Trek Into Darkness 7.9/10

Thor The Dark World 7.6/10

The Conjuring 7.5/10

Despicable Me 7.5/10

While it's critic scores were nothing to write home about, Thor: The Dark World does have the highest user ratings of any of this year's CBMs on the 3 major movie sites (Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB and Metacritic). Also, this list is not to be confused with a list posted a few days ago which featured IMDB's list of the most popular movie pages based on page visits.

With news earlier today that the film has crossed $620M worldwide, Marvel must be more than pleased with the reception to the second solo film featuring the god of thunder

Special shout out to CBM user TheHeat for bringing this to my attention

"LOLZ DON'T TRUST IMDB THEY LIST THOR BUT NO MAN OF STEEL MAKE MINE DISNEY!!!!!"
DEVLIN712 - 12/15/2013, 2:45 PM
The Hobbit will push every film on that list down a spot.

Lol, the DC fanboys are already on their way...

Personally, I would have enjoyed this so much more if the forced comedy was dropped.

I am all for lighter moments, but running around naked, and girl from 'Two Broke Girls' distracted from the story with a number of awful scenes, which I felt were not needed.

Also, Marvel's connected universe is causing a minor issue with their solo movies: The lack of involvement of other heroes and/or SHIELD. IM3 President is kidnapped and no agents turn up, not even Captain America was sent in, Thor 2 seems to make our Selvig was left to roam free and not helped by SHIELD, and we're not on the scene as they couldn't be phoned. I could be wrong, but remember a couple of moments of them trying to call them.

That said, I did like the movie, just moments like I mentioned stopped me loving it.

I gotta say, I didn't think TDW would be my favorite CBM of 2013 when the year started, and now it is haha. As far the major CBMs of this year goes, I'd say Thor was my favorite, IM3 and MOS are tied for second (can't really decide which one I liked better), and Wolverine would be last (didn't think it was bad, but it was definitely my least favorite CBM of the year.) I didn't see Kick-Ass 2, so I can't rate that one.
Supes17 - 12/15/2013, 3:04 PM
I havent seen star trek into darkness. Was it bad?

It's the Iron-Man 3 syndrome, some loved it, some hated it. There was no inbetween.
Personally, I thought it was one of the best sci-fi films in a long time
DrDoom - 12/15/2013, 3:11 PM
[frick]ing Hunger Games bullshit

So many better movies released this year

Although I am glad to see Star Trek Into Darkness on there, Pacific Rim, Iron Man 3 and Desolation of Smaug (although it probably will jump on at some point) deserve spots.
JoeMomma29 - 12/15/2013, 3:14 PM
Well good for Thor, thank goodness IM3 was not on that list!
jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 3:16 PM
@Supes

it was ... how would i call it ... lazy ?

First one was tight and inteligent. This one looked like the writer said "chill", the director said "chill" and the actors all went "chill".

Like they were all having too much fun while making this movie, and forgot they actually should be like ... working ?
Jollem - 12/15/2013, 3:27 PM
that's almost as good as "most watched trailer"

jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 3:30 PM
@Jollem

what about an international trailer ?
I couldn't stopped laughing when Gwen shouted "Peter !!!"
Jollem - 12/15/2013, 3:33 PM
she's so cute

ManCalledSting - 12/15/2013, 3:33 PM
I'll give it a solid Meh....
jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 3:36 PM
lol ... she's got great comedic talent.
jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 3:38 PM
i think i need to watch "Easy A"
NovaCorpsFan - 12/15/2013, 3:51 PM
A-wop-bomb-a-loobop-a-wop-bamboo!

That's the extent of the vocabulary of IMDb users.
Supes17 - 12/15/2013, 3:57 PM
So what I'm getting from that is that Star Trek into darkness is an entertaining movie but not as impressive as the first
jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 4:01 PM
@Supes

i wouldn't call it entertaining.
But maybe i was too disappointed with the movie to have any real fun while watching it.

Jollem - 12/15/2013, 4:03 PM
into darkness was impressive. it slightly lacked that "magic" the first one had for some reason. a little bit. i don't know why
jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 4:04 PM
lower your expectations ... who know, you might even end up liking it. Me ... i'm not gonna even rewatch it.
Supes17 - 12/15/2013, 4:06 PM
Ive never seen any of the old star trek movies or tv shows. Ive never interested in it. I liked the first movie though. I hope I'm not too let down by it.
jerryblake - 12/15/2013, 4:06 PM
maybe @DEVLIN is right. Some people tend to love it, others wanna hunt JJ after watching it. It's a 50/50 case here.
Supes17 - 12/15/2013, 4:08 PM
Like my friend gave me a death glare when I didnt even react to the old Spock having a cameo. I was like "so he's like the future old version of him. Ok. So?"
I didnt get any of the old references save for the famous live long and prosper hand gesture
BritishMonkey - 12/15/2013, 4:14 PM
So Thor beat Man of Steel and Iron Man. Not bad.
Jollem - 12/15/2013, 4:16 PM
Spock: Your suggestion that I do not care about dying is incorrect. A sentient beings optimal chance at maximizing their utility is a long and prosperous life.

Uhura: Great.

Kirk: Not exactly a love song, Spock.

Spock: You misunderstand. It is true I chose not to feel anything upon realizing that my own life was ending. As Admiral Pike was dying, I joined with his consciousness and experienced what he felt at the moment of his passing. Anger, confusion, loneliness, fear. I have experienced those feelings before, multiplied exponentially on the day my planet was destroyed. Such a feeling is something I choose never to experience again. Nyota, you mistake my choice not to feel as a reflection of my not caring. Well, I assure you, the truth is precisely the opposite.

bazinga85 - 12/15/2013, 4:21 PM
Glad to see Prisoners on the list, loved that movie.

gravity, the conjuring & stoker are the best films of the year.

thor the dark world 4/5 comic book movie of the year.
ComicFan523 - 12/15/2013, 4:51 PM
I liked Thor: The Dark World, not as much as Man of Steel but it was a good movie. I'm glad that other people enjoyed it.
redcapeguy - 12/15/2013, 5:11 PM
Nice! I did like Thor 2.
Ramiel - 12/15/2013, 5:11 PM
Nice to see Hemsworth twice on that list. Rush was also a very good movie.
SuperCat - 12/15/2013, 5:40 PM
I see "The Conjuring" made the list. Didn't really care for it.
