Chris Evans! Marvel Comics is Calling on YOU!

Will Chris Evans be the Face of Marvel Comics Movies Future?
Captain America: The First Avenger marks a new beginning for actor Chris Evans and Marvel Comic's as well. I have reason to believe that Evans will be the face of the entire movie line. From the 2012 release of the Avengers movie to Hulk, Iron Man 3, or any other future Marvel release, Captain America will have a big part in it. Starting with the cast of 'The First Avenger' Chris Evans wasn't their first choice for the lead.

Several others topped Marvels list for the lead roll as Steve Rogers. Like Garrett Hedlund, John Krasinski, Mike Vogel etc. but a busy work load for some of these up and coming stars would keep them from meeting Marvel's demands. Marvel needed someone who wasn't in such high demand at the time, but still maybe have the appeal to become an in house super star. So they look no further then their very own 'Human Torch', Chris Evans. A good young actor whose yet to play a lead in a blockbuster film but good enough to do so.

With Spider-Man belonging to Sony, Captain America will be Marvel films franchise superhero. Robert Downy Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson are too big of stars to commet for a 9 movie deal such as Chris Evans. With Hollywood not exactly knocking down his door, I think Chris Evans will embrace being not only Captain America but the face of Marvel movie's for a long time. Get ready to see Chris Evans aka Captain America's face everywhere! Lunch boxes, BookBags, Happy Meal Toys, action figures, and everything else you can think of. If you ask me Marvel made out pretty cheap for what they are about to make off of the movie franchise. If the movie hits and hits hard which it will how long will they be able to keep Evans in the Marvel Universe! P.S. I guess Chris Evans movie career is alot like Steve Rogers, started off small and weak about to become big and strong.

What about Ant-Man ? =(
InSpace - 7/14/2010, 4:28 PM
@Inspace what's up? Glad you checked me out my man, as far as Ant-Man you already know they could make him really big if they chose to but Marvel hand picks which characters they want in starring rolls and which ones they need for supporting cast. Good looking out.
Gab - 7/14/2010, 4:43 PM
First off, and I don't want to sound rude, but what's the point? Second, Jackson actually signed a 9 picture deal, but his role as Fury will be very similar to that in IM2, a side character. With the exception of The Avengers and any sequels and the rumored Nick Fury film.

Either way, I think you're right in that because of the iconic character that he will be playing, he will become the face of Marvel films.
ecksmanfan - 7/14/2010, 4:46 PM
@ecksmanfan my point exactly. Personally I think Chris Evans will do a great job, Marvel's gonna make Captain America their Superman again like they did in the 70's you feel me? You can market him better than Wolverine and Hulk cause Cap is a pretty boy. Thank you for checking me out, God bless.

chris pine was a better pick than evans
Anil Rickly - 7/14/2010, 7:00 PM
@ Anil Rickly First off Chris Pine is in deep with the Star Trek people he has a multi year contract. It might be in writing where he can't make a multi movie contract with another franchise trust me alot of actors wanted the role of Captain America until Marvel mentioned how long and how many movies they would have to commet to. Chris Evans is only getting $300,000 a flick, it was reported several times, Marvel might make 300 million or more, looks like a bad deal to me. It's like Marvel wanted a desperate actor... maybe.
Gab - 7/14/2010, 8:54 PM
They need to cast R. Lee Ermey for the role of Staff Sgt. Duffy. That would be the icing on the cake!
Jackwagon - 7/15/2010, 5:55 AM
I just see Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth becoming insanely overrated in the next couple of years
Starsapphire - 7/15/2010, 6:35 AM
@star...well i dont think hemsworth was the best thor choice, as i was privy to bradd pitt or karl urban...as im iffy on chris' acting skills...but evans is decent, just i dont think he was fit for the rogers role...after pine in star trek, that role reeked of rogers to me...so i took it hard when pine didnt get it...but there are lots of names that were tossed around that were worse than evans...so his casting releived me a bit
Anil Rickly - 7/15/2010, 7:52 AM
I like that picture of Chris evans you used in your article. :)
Starsapphire - 7/15/2010, 8:08 AM
Glad Evans is Captain America, and not Krazinski...seriously what was Marvel thinking?
W4RDude87 - 7/15/2010, 9:09 AM
How in the world was Pines character in Star Trek anything like Steve Rogers, other than a natural leader? Captain Kirk is a cocky SOB and doesn't listen to orders for shit. Steve Rogers is a humble, yes sir type character. Both great leaders, but different characters. Chris Evans in Sunshine embodies Steve Rogers perfectly.
Cyclopsistherealleader - 7/15/2010, 10:17 AM
@Cyclopsistherealleader-- Thank You. I'm so confused as to how anyone could think Captain Kirk and Captain America are anything alike aside from the title "Captain." Granted, Chris Pine is a good actor, the types of characters he seems to gravitate toward are very similar to the types of characters Chris Evans has played frequently. To me, casting Chris Pine would have been like casting a slightly less muscular version of Chris Evans, minus Evans' strong, authoritative voice.

I will say this when Marvel wants to they can make some weird shit work when I heard Robert Downey Jr. was Iron Man... I was like WOW a 5'6 recovering drug addict is playing Tony Starks... how is that gonna work and it did or personally I think Denzel Washington with a bald head would be perfect for Nick Fury but Sam L. Jackson is doing his thing no complaints, Triple H should be Thor, the list goes on... but who knows better than Marvel. After Chris Evans hits the weights, becomes blonde, and puts on the costume all ya'll gonna go crazy. Especially when you see a hot trailor of him throwing his sheild, punching chumps in the face... your gonna be like incredible man! Watch just wait and see. Keep in mind Marvel has everything riding on this movie. That's the truth.
Gab - 7/15/2010, 9:39 PM
@Gab- Sorry but I gotta disagree with your picks for Thor and Fury. SLJ is perfect for the Ultimate version (it was modeled after him)and he plays it well, and no way in hell should HHH ever be considered for Thor.

I do agree though that Marvel really knows how to cast. All of the supporting cast for all of their movies has been seriously top notch. Each movie has award winning or critically acclaimed actors in it. I agree about Cap too...once we see him in action, its gonna be nuts.

I think RDJ is 5'9" btw. But yeah, still it was kind of a risk to cast him but he's truly a great actor.
ckal - 7/16/2010, 5:25 PM
Hey ckal! I'm with you!I know that nick fury was made after SLJ I just think DW would be a better leader! but I like SLJ too.watch DW in training day he's BAD ASS!!! RDJ is the man but I had to give him a chance first.some people acting like chris evans can't pull it off. just because they had some one else in mind! I'M SOLD ON IT NOW!! HE'S THE RIGHT PICK!! PS JUST PLAYING ABOUT HHH!!
Gab - 7/16/2010, 9:26 PM
@Gab

Haha alright about HHH. Yeah I like Denzel he's a great actor. Was really good in Training Day. Me n one of my friends have a joke that somehow in every single one of his movies no matter what it is, manages to do a patented Denzel move-either the throat jab or grab a guy's head with one hand and smash his face with the other. lol

I'm confident everyone who is hesitant about Evans will see that go away once they see some footage of Cap kickin ass. I'm with you too, I think he will be great.
ckal - 7/16/2010, 10:07 PM
@ckal no bullshit I never noticed that Denzel does that!! thats true tho!!LOL but yo,are you a Thor fan?and what do you expect from that flick?
Gab - 7/17/2010, 7:10 AM
@Gab

Yeah I'm a big Thor fan. All signs point to it being great on an epic scale. Haven't heard or seen anything negative so I'm really siked. Thor is going to be such a bad ass movie, I think it is going to blow everybody's mind. I guess we will really see what it looks like next Saturday! Hopefully some footage will be shown!
ckal - 7/17/2010, 8:26 AM
@ckal OK I'm feeling that!! Thor better be GOOD!! if so it's the kind of movie that becomes a serie.I see it as Conan mixed with Lord of The Rings slash Clash of The Titans

Chris Evans does not have a strong authoritive voice... HAHAHA seriously? He sounds like a 16 year old boy.
Ven0m - 7/18/2010, 1:16 PM
who did you want to play captain america? Vincent Price!! just joking VenOm!!lol
Gab - 7/18/2010, 5:11 PM
Good Article @Gab must admit I hated the fact that he was Cap but now warming up to it!!!!! Hope this movie lives up to all the hype because alot of people will be upset, people have been looking foward to seeing a great Cap movie since they first sarted making superhero movies!
