FANCAST: ANT-MAN (By Charles Bryant)
I scored 22 points out of 23 possible points on the CBM Contributor Quiz #1 to prepare myself for this. Now, here is my first fancast, which features Hank Pym and friends, for the upcoming Marvel Studios film directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, The World's End, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World). Check it out!
This is my first fancast, which as the teaser states, I took the CBM Contributor Quiz to prepare for. I searched for actors who I personally thought would be original and best fitted for this film, and tried to think outside the box, which is what I want anyone who sees the fancast to do on their future fancasts. Here is my fancast for the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Ant-Man, directed by Edgar Wright.
1. John Krasinski - Henry "Hank" Pym/Ant-Man
Filmography: Something Borrowed, Promised Land, and Monsters University.
Writing: Promised Land.
Television: The Office.
Reasons for this pick: I went with this pick, because John Krasinski has the prescence of Hank Pym, and can nail his attitude. He can also be witty, as seen in The Office, and be serious, which describes Hank Pym.
2. Emilia Clarke - Janet Van Dyne/Wasp
Filmography: Triassic Attack, Shackled, and Spike Island.
Television: Game of Thrones, Doctors, and Futurama.
Reasons for this pick: I went with this choice, because, as most of you who have seen Game of Thrones should know, that Emilia Clarke is a good actress. She has shown a feminine side, and a fierce side, which characterizes Janet Van Dyne.
3. Simon Pegg - Elihas Starr/Egghead
Filmography: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Reasons for this pick: I went with with this choice, because first of all, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are a very good team, which is evident in such films as Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Also, Simon Pegg would be a good villain; especially a Marvel villain, with his dark humorous acting ability, that again, would work well with Edgar Wright's film style.
4. Mark Webber - Scott Lang/Ant-Man
Filmography: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Snow Day, and Save the Date.
Directing: Explicit Ills, and The End of Love.
Reasons for this pick: I went with this choice, because he has shown that he can be funny, as seen in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and have good comedy timing. He can show seriousness, which he pulled off really well in Life Is Hot in Cracktown. Also, he has starred in a previous cbm, of which Edgar Wright directed, so he would have good chemistry with him as a director, as well as already being able to pull of being comedic and serious, which Scott Lang is known for.
Ant-Man is the upcoming Marvel Studios film set to be released on November 6, 2015. The film will be directed by Edgar Wright and written by Joe Cornish.
