Supes17 - 9/18/2011, 7:56 PM
To each their own.
IMO, toss up between Burton/Nolan
Snyder and Singer should get more recognition
Watchmen was incredible
Otcet - 9/18/2011, 7:57 PM
Bryan Singer is a great director, he turn the superhero franchises to another level, but after leaving the X men he lost a lot. But Nolan make the best Batman movie...sorry Burton....
ironknight - 9/18/2011, 7:58 PM
I don't hate Nolan, I just hate how everybody worships him and treats him like no other director can or will ever come close to him. He's a good director, though.
TheDarkKnightWing - 9/18/2011, 8:00 PM
"Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answers?" -Magneto
seriously we know nolan is gonna win.
chucksome12391 - 9/18/2011, 8:01 PM
no one else for Louis Leterrier ?
xizorkatarn - 9/18/2011, 8:08 PM
Branaugh and Nolan are tied for me... I went with Branaugh just because I knew Nolan would have ridiculous amounts of votes.
SkrullWar - 9/18/2011, 8:17 PM
Nolan or Snyder,Vaugh is not bad,Singer was cool in X Men and X2,Brannagh was great in Thor,Favreu is awessomen because he practically start the whole MCU,and Burton wasn't bad
Tevii - 9/18/2011, 8:21 PM
Even though The Dark Knight is an overrated movie I do think Nolan is a great director... but its his die hard fans that are annoying... they are as bad as die hard Apple fans... complete love for anything they do, even when there is a superior product out there
AiyalKilU - 9/18/2011, 8:21 PM
not surprising the trolls are the majority of the hate for Nolan

it always goes that way anyway, probably Michael Bay, Uwe Boll purists
RobinNumbah6 - 9/18/2011, 8:24 PM
Surprise, surprise. Although Zack Snyder is in a close second for me. Maybe he'll top Nolan by 2013
ArmoredArizona - 9/18/2011, 8:30 PM

TerminatorMode - 9/18/2011, 9:13 PM
who voted tim story hmm?
SuspenseSmith - 9/18/2011, 9:35 PM
No option for Joel Schumacher, eh?
Buzzbee - 9/18/2011, 9:48 PM
No love for Joe Johnston? He should have garnered more votes! Rocketeer was an amazing movie and well I loved every second of Captain America also.

I fully understand why Nolan wins this pole, but I must say I wasnt a fan of the Dark Knight. I still think Batman Begins is hands down the best Superhero movie ever made though.
NOLANITE - 9/18/2011, 9:59 PM
Nolan has his Bat and realism.
Snyder has his Imaginative superheroes.
Schumacher is on pills.
Burton lost his mind.
Raimi tried to hard.
Ratner didnt try at all.
Favreau knows the basics.
Vaughn has potential, keep em coming.
Story knows shit about comics.
Singer has no mind.
Johnston needs Favreaus help.
Wheres Whedon?
Whos Bowman?
And.....that wraps it up.
BlairCo - 9/18/2011, 10:01 PM
Why would Schumacher even be an option?
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 9/18/2011, 10:03 PM
Well, okay. He's good, but you know I don't think I would want him doing almost any other super hero other than Batman. Which is why I didn't pick him.
BooYah - 9/18/2011, 10:07 PM
@FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey- I don't know, I think Nolan can direct a good DareDevil movie. Realism would work in that movie, his costume might need am update though.
kalisto2010 - 9/18/2011, 10:32 PM
Nolan can't shoot action sequences worth a shit. Nothing he's even done has been innovative or memorable. Admittedly, he's good at shooting drama, but that's where his talent ends. He has no vision, Inception was the most bland and forgettable dream world a director has ever created. Brian Singer is leaps and bounds ahead of Nolan.

And Batman is an uber boring character too. I don't see why everyone is so fixated by man who's only superpower is his utility belt. The reason people over hype his movies is because Batman was ruined by Joel Schumacher.

So when they're judging his movies, they don't judge it by the movie itself, they judge it based on how bad it use to be. Once again, he's the worst comic book action director in history. I'll put the Brian Singers Night Crawler sequence against any action sequence that Nolan has done. I just don't get how people are entertained by such a boring and un orignal director.
kalisto2010 - 9/18/2011, 10:35 PM
Also, he's not even talented or visionary enough to include Robin in his films. He doesn't posses the story telling ability to include such an iconic character. Very one dimensional indeed.
GiganteRed - 9/18/2011, 10:37 PM
HELLOO!! Where the heck is Richard Donner??
He'd be right up there for me!
batmanrises - 9/18/2011, 10:45 PM
Bam! What was that about Hatred for Nolan on this site?? The poll proves its only a minority. A very VOCAL minority...but still a minority.
alucard365 - 9/18/2011, 10:49 PM

tomtom12 - 9/18/2011, 11:09 PM

hush - 9/18/2011, 11:13 PM

hitman - 9/18/2011, 11:24 PM

Jolt17 - 9/19/2011, 1:46 AM
No vote for DONNER or DEL TORO and THREE vote for SHOEMAKER!?

Tell me who voted for that guy and I'll hunt them down.
pOoPEE - 9/19/2011, 1:50 AM
Umm Del Toro also did blade 2 which was certainly worth attaching to his name as one of the best CBM's ever.
Nastysnow - 9/19/2011, 2:15 AM
Sam raimi
Kaedus - 9/19/2011, 2:45 AM
That many votes for Nolan has made me lose faith in humanity.
alekesam - 9/19/2011, 2:55 AM
I was torn between Raimi, Del Toro, Snyder, Favereau, Donner and Louis Leterrier (even tho' he's only done one Hulk movie). And no, the ommission of Chris Nolan and Bryan Singer is not a jab, dig, or whatever at them as I like Nolan's movies quite a bit.

That said, the reason why I was torn between the directors I listed was because all of them "get" the source material. All those guys managed to make the character they had believable, entertaining to watch (read: personality and action), made it feel like a comic book but still feel like a movie for the average movie goer.

Nolan, much like Singer but way better, films drama extremely good but can't film action (again, Nolan is better than Singer at this but still) at all, which is a requirement of comic book movies. To some degree, that's why I like X3 over X1 (but not X2) because the mutants finally got to really show off what they can do in an exciting way. I still say, had X3 not tried to do both the Dark Phoenix saga at the same time as the legacy virus or whatever the storyline was called that could turn the mutants back to normal, it would've been as good story-wise as it was action-wise.

Ichaos - 9/19/2011, 2:58 AM
Seriously this site needs to give up on polls and kill them alltogether. Pretty obvious there are losers out there with nothing to do but bounce ips to vote over and over
alekesam - 9/19/2011, 3:04 AM
I thought maybe folks were double voting but I didn't think you could do that here.

mok - 9/19/2011, 3:31 AM
Sam Raimi should be one of the best comic book movie directors of all time. His Spiderman 2 take is still IMHO the best CBM ever for it has the elements of humanity and the challenge of choice in Peter Parker's life. The action sequences are still top-notch, the train fight and the tower were crafted to near perfection. Hey, cbms should have tons of action and believe me, the Spiderman 2 flick packs a wallop. Even the third Spiderman, for all its flaws, carries so much action and this should not be ignored.

Richard Donner made us believe a man can fly, and actually has pioneered flight sequences for future flying heroes to emulate. Plus he got Christopher Reeve to give justice to the role of Clark Kent/Superman.

Guillermo del Toro would be my third pick with the way he unraveled Blade and Hellboy. I just wonder why he isn't here.

Many will vote for Christopher Nolan for he revolutionized the definition of Batman, but so did the rest of the picks here (Zach Snyder, Louis Letterier, Jon Favreau, Kenneth Branagh)given the materials and talents they have. Nolan "grounded" his Batman to reality to show us the humanity in his hero, a believable character who is in constant conflict with himself and with the world around him as he struggles to put order in his chaotic world.

Those are my picks, I don't know the rest...Peace guys!
