Welcome to a place where we the fans get to pit anyone and everyone from the world of comic books against any hero, villain or God we so choose. I believe I’ve come up with the easiest way to go about doing so, so read on for the rules and practices of Comic book Battleground:

1) Each week I will pick the contestant based on whatever movie or DVD is released close to the day. However many weeks there will not be anything released and contestants could be anyone. The contestants will be chosen every Saturday.

2) The article featuring the contestant will also feature a poll of possible opponents. Vote for who you would want to see do battle and the next Saturday the discussions will begin. THIS OPTION NOT YET AVAILABLE SO PLEASE MAKE SUGGESTIONS.

3) The article posted with the contestant and the chosen opponent will be posted 1 week after the announcement of the contestant and will be your place to argue and fight for who you think would win. My final decision will be mostly based around those arguments as well as hard factual information I find on the characters. Make sure you fight for your chosen champion.

4) This page here is the place to make suggestions for future bouts, the battleground will be a place for discussion on the current battle. Please make as many suggestions as you want.

5) The battles will take place between people of a somewhat similar range of abilities and powers. A battle between Superman and Hawkeye would just not be fair. Please think of battles that would be interesting and close to the nose.

6) The Battleground transcends universes and breaks barriers. ANY comic book character can enter the arena. However if someone is killed, they are dead and buried and won’t be featured again until such time as we’ve exhausted all interesting battles (which I don’t see being very soon).

Any questions or adaptations to the rules please make yourself known. There may be a better way to do this but this is the format I will stick with for now.

This is AWESOME! Myself, and a couple of buddies here at work have been doing something very similar. One person would make up the rules and everything, say, pick 10 of your favorite characters etc etc

send the lists to the person in charge of the game, and he will decide who gets what characters, what the game is, and what the rules are. Then each contestant would create a scenario in which they would describe in detail what their characters would do to effectively defeat the opposing squad. send those back to the GM and he would decide the eventual outcome. It was cool, we played Super Hockey, with teams of DC Heros vs Marvel villains, it was great. I'm diggin' this. Nicely done RealFirstAvenger.

Man, I had a whole freakin' LIST of fights I would want to see...I'll try again though

Deadpool vs Deathstroke
Johnny Storm vs Firestorm
Xavier vs Hector Hammond
Solomon Grundy vs Abomination
Wolverine vs Kestrel (DC)
Dr Strange vs Dr Fate
Superman vs Juggernaut
Deadshot vs Bullseye
Spectre vs Living Tribunal
Mr Fantastic vs Plastic Man
Hawkeye vs Green Arrow
Iceman vs Ice
Spawn vs Ghost Rider
Savage Dragon vs Punisher

I think that's all the ones I had.

that is an amazing list
I wasnt sure how I wanted to do this but it is similar to your work idea. I never thought of choosing the battleground as well. I was just thinking an all out death match with no rules, winner can move on and the loser is out.
I also like that the 'contestants' as I have been calling them are fairly evenly matched. Makes for a much more interesting battle.
I want it to be as interactive as possible, allowing members to say why and how their champion would win and then allow others to argue with it. Get discussion happening.
Thanks for the support, it kinda came to me the other day.
I dont know if you have ever played the PC RPG Freedom Force but back when it was new their were hundreds of mods for comic book characters and you could just let characters fight and watch the outcomes. It was quite entertaining. Wanted to bring that aspect here.
Thanks again.

No problem. It's a great and entertaining idea. So long as the "contestants" are evenly matched...Because Thanos vs Night Thrasher isn't exactly a good battle, ya know?
