First, a little about our challenger:

Superman is the last surviving son of the planet Krypton who gains incredible super powers upon arrival on our planet. He has amazingly enhanced abilities such as strength, speed, invulnerability, and flight. He is also gifted with with laser and x-ray vision as well as super icy breath. If there was a technical definition of 'overpowered' it would be Superman. He is the idol of every man, women and child in the DC universe (who isnt evil).

Scenario:

The powers that be in the cosmos have grown eternally bored with watching the exploits of the 'super beings' of the multiple universes. A debate has been raging in the minds of the endless ones as to who the most powerful warrior in the endless realities. Two champions have always topped their list, Superman of Krypton and Thor Odinson of Asgard.

These two warriors are the most true of heart in their realities and have been chosen to do battle in order to save their reality. In the vein of the immortals sense of humour, these two 'boy scouts' will be forced to do battle to the death or face their entire reality being destroyed.

In this winner take all battle, only one universe can be saved and one must die for the other to survive.

So now it is up to you. Who would win this battle? How would it happen? Do you agree or disagree with someone else's scenario? Make your argument and battle for your chosen warrior.

Its a toss up,but I would have Superman.Superman has always felt a responsibility for protecting the human race,Thor ,to my knowledge, doesn't have that same responsible "father complex" that the man of steel has.But thats just my thoughts.

Actually Thor does have that complex, I would say moreso than Superman. Because Thor's home isn't destroyed, Asgard is eternal, he chooses to stay on Midgard, even though the rest of the Gods have forsaken us, to protect the mortals he feels such an affinity for. Superman is kinda stuck in a way. His home is destroyed, and his powers are drawn from the radiation of our yellow sun. And this is a tough battle, but since I'm a Marvel and also because of my great dislike of Superman, Thor wins. Also, Supes may be God-like, but Thor is a God.

well Thor is so far in the lead in votes as well as comments
I would vote Thor as well for similar reasons listed (mostly my hatred of Superman)
I also beleive that both of these characters, as well as most heroes in their respective universes have a deep love for humanity. They have an inescapable need to protect and safegaurd them.
Watching these two fight would be literally like watching two gods battle to the death. It would be the most fantastic sight for anyone to have ever laid eyes on
They would both fight with everything they had if it meant saving their reality and humanity along with it.

definetly gotta go with thor. he is A god. i think they are about equal strength wise, but thor does have an "enchanted" uru hammer. and supes is supposed to be succeptable to magic which is what enchanted means to me.i was dissapointed that they (marvel) let thor lose to superman in the avengers/jla crosssover, but not surprised. superman never loses in these crossovers, not to the hulk, not to thor, never. it makes the crossoves meaningless if he cant ever be beat. i still didn't understand what thor meant by saying that "a rematch might prove otherwise now that he has the "kryptonians" measure". did he mean he was holding back or that he might use kryptonite? anyone?

Superman, clearly (it already happened). And Supes doesn't need a weapon ;-)

Thor wins hands down, his hammer gives him the big advantage over supes who has problems with magic. The only advantages I see supes having is his super speed. But Thor's hammer can create vortexs to other dimensions. It would be bye bye supes. Now if Thor decides to not use his hammer in the fight (Like he sometimes does Against the hulk) Then supes could have the advantage. Hell I think Silver Surfer could beat supes. Maybe ol green skin can to if he can survive long enough to get VERY mad. As we all know the madder the hulk gets !!!!!

you do know that every fight does not the same way.
thor wins in a very brutal fight that leaves them both bruised, beaten, and broken

id have to give this one to Thor. Especially now since his return, he's jus as strong or even stronger than Superman. plus he's got the experience and badass attitude. Superman is far from being a slouch, but I'd have to give the advantage to Thor!
