EDITORIAL: How A DC Cinematic Universe And JLA Film Should Be Done
Here are my ideas on how I think a Dc movie verse should be done...
I am pretty sure we are all familiar with the cinematic universe Marvel studios has built for us. I am also pretty sure we are all familiar with The Highly Anticipated Avengers movie coming to hit theaters soon. This leaves many people asking...what will DC do?
Im also sure we are familiar with the Wonder Woman film we were supposed to get, the Flash film we were also supposed to get AND the JLA film we were supposed to get as well. But how could a Dc cinematic universe work? How could it work with Nolan's Batman in its own universe, WB not being able to get a Flash movie off the ground, and them also wanting to do a jla film for themselves? Read along.
The Justice League is the most popular super team ever (probably wont be as popular after The Avengers but who cares) with very iconic characters. But as iconic as those characters are, some of them are indeed very cheesy and cannot hold a movie on their own unless they are Batman and Superman, look at Green Lantern for example. The perfect way to start off a Dc movieverse is to not go the Marvel route and build up to a JLA movie, but this time start off with it. Start the show with a BANG!
A Justice League movie could prove to movie go-ers just how badass these characters really are. The movie could show how each character can hold their own and be taken seriously without being either Batman or Superman. Something like this could have helped Green Lantern out alot more. A JLA movie can lead to each hero having their own feature film, having already proved their worthiness in a JLA film.
But how could this work out with so much going on with WB and its DC properties? Well I would simply wait about four years after Nolan's Batman trilogy is over and begin with a fresh new Batman in the JLA film. With Green Lantern, it would be best to forget as much as we can about the last one and begin with a new Green Lantern, John Stewart. This could influence more more of a diverse culture of people to go see the film with John Stewart feauring in it and can easily make people forget all about the "old" GL.
However the roster of the team would have to be shortened. JLA has too many heros on it roster for one movie alone, so the team size overall would have to be cut. Ofcourse we would keep the big stars on the team (you know who i mean) and introduce more heros in sequels and so on and so forth.
