Read off these reasons for why Garret Hedlund will probably don the red, white and blue.
So obviously we know the Captain America casting seems to finally be nearing its final stages, we know Hugo Weaving is (likely) the Red Skull which is perfect, and we know that Marvel has Wilson Bethel, Chris Evans, Mike Vogel and Garrett Hedlund lined up as there final four Cap possibilities.
I strongly think Garrett Hedlund will get the role, and here is why.
1. He has the perfect prescence for Steve Rogers. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, deep voice, perfect height and really does look like Steve Rogers much better then the other choices are (well except maybe Chris Evans, who looks less like Steve still).
2. I think Hedlund is totally meant to be a leading man and this looks to be pefect role for him to get his big start out with.
3. In the long run, we need someone that is young, but can still be effective bossing the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Edward Norton around. Garrett is the only one on the list that could definantly do this without a doubt.
4. Garrett will be in Tron Legacy, which is being released in 2011. It would be a smart move to cast him as Cap as well because they are both set to be released around the same time and both films would definantly make Garrett a breakout star, which would be perfect for when The Avengers rolls around, Garrett could be well known somewhat.
5. Tron Legacy is being distributed(?) by Disney, and all of us are aware that Disney has Marvel as a subsidiary.
6. It seems like Hedlund is Marvel's top choice for Cap. He did not even get to screen test the first go around because of scheduling issues, yet he is still on there radar for the second go around. Granted, Mike Vogel and Wilson Bethel were both on the first list but Marvel already knows what they are capable of from there screentests. I think that they are just keeping Vogel and Bethel around because they liked there performance, and in case Hedlund wont be able to don the Cap suit, they will still have Vogel and Bethel lined up to take it away.
8. Considering Hugo Weaving will likely be our Red Skull, we need someone that could act along side him and come off serious. Can you honestly picture Evans, Vogel and Bethel looking anything but stupid compared to Weaving? Hedlund vs Weaving is totally beleivable.
7. The Avengers starring Garrett Hedlund, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Edward Norton, Samuel L. Jackson as Scarlett Johansson definantly sounds like a winning combination, dont it?
