JUSTICE LEAGUE/JLI/JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK NEW 52 FANCAST BY DDD.
A NEW-52 JUSTICE LEAGUE, JUSTICE LEAGUE
INTERNATIONAL & JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK
TRIPLE-CAST FROM ME, DDD!
Quite a few folks din't like the NEW 52 from DC, they even protested it
in the streets but I kind of like it! Especially JIM LEE'S & GEOFF JOHN'S JUSTICE LEAGUE. The art is fantastic and the script passable, although I
don't like SUPERMAN'S brash characterization here and BATMAN and GREEN
LANTERN seem like sort of DICKS! It is quite humorous, though.
But I like the new line-up and JIM LEE'S costume designs, especially
SUPERMAN. He's kept the suit pretty traditional-looking except ridding
SUPES of his silly SPEEDO outer-shorts. This actually looks better than
the SUPERMAN SUIT HENRY CAVILL is wearing in MAN OF STEEL. Now I'm a
traditionalist but the Speedo underwear on the outside of the pants
really doesn't work nowadays!
But the real pleasant surprise here is putting CYBORG in an updated
costume-design and inserting him here at the beginning of the JL. I like
CYBORG as a replacement for MARTIAN MANHUNTER (Glad to see they didn't get
rid of MM entirely but put him in STORM WATCH.). I liked CYBORG on
SMALLVILLE. I would have liked to seen more of him and the JL on
SMALLVILLE instead of all the lame filler episodes. CYBORG is a hip, cool,
high-tech bionic-man for this present high-tech world we live in.
He just fits better for the “HERE & NOW.
We've all seen the illustration of the NEW 52 JUSTICE LEAGUE from TOON
TUMBLERS, for their glass designs, thus we know the “possible” later
additions to the JL such as GREEN ARROW but I would have liked to seen GA
in the beginning line-up. That is one huge misstep I think they've taken.
I hope they bring him in here quick.
Of course we all know the mystery woman with the beauty mark above her lip
is LADY LUCK because GEOFF JOHNS said so. I would've rather seen BLACK
CANARY in here. LADY LUCK? Kind of lame! BLACK CANARY belongs here in the
But oh, well, if I'm to do this NEW-52 JL FANCAST correct I have to use
the people GEOFF JOHNS and JIM LEE put in here.
The group consists of:
SUPERMAN, WONDER WOMAN, BATMAN, GREEN LANTERN, FLASH,
AQUAMAN & CYBORG and presumably eventually will include GREEN ARROW,
MERA, ELEMENT WOMAN, ATOM, LADY LUCK, FIRESTORM & DEADMAN.
Next up is the NEW JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL. I was quite curious about
this, being I loved the old 80's-90's run with DE MATTEIS & GIFFEN.
But this comic really disappointed me at first! I know it's a reboot but
this had none of the wit and fun I connote with THE JLI. The artwork is
nice but DAN JURGENS writing seemed very silted and mundane at the start.
But with issue #3 I was hooked back in.
The writing is starting to gel and the characters are being brought out
better. I'm starting to like this new JLI.
The U.N. set this one up and they right off the bat don't let BLUE BEETLE
in. What is BOOSTER GOLD without BLUE BEETLE...LA-A-AME! I hope they bring
JAIME REYES and CAPTAIN ATOM in here eventually. They can drop the silly
GODIVA for all I care, in my opinion she's ridiculous and pretty much does
nothing in this group. Bring in a more interesting British superhero.
I like that BOOSTER GOLD is made the leader. But it's really only because
the U.N. thinks he's controllable. They didn't want BATMAN because they
feels he's UNCONTROLLABLE but he injects himself into the proceedings
anyway, to keep tabs on them. I like the sexy VIXEN but she's barely used
here and pretty well wasted as a character. I'd like to see her
fleshed-out much more. The character that has reallysurprised me is the
oddly named, AUGUST GENERAL IN IRON. I really like this guy!
The group consists of: BOOSTER GOLD (Designated Leader), VIXEN, ROCKET
RED, FIRE, ICE, GUY GARDNER, AUGUST GENERAL IN IRON, GODIVA &
BATMAN, unofficially tagging along to keep an eye on the bunch.
And finally JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK.
This comic I like a lot but I'm a sucker for dark horror/spernatural
stories and characters. I wondered why ZATANNA wasn't included in the main
JL and now I know, they used her here. I really love the artwork of MIKEL
JANIN and PETER MIILLIGAN'S writing is cool.
The proceedings begin with ENCHANTRESS having gone completely insane and
being a very scary menace. The story is wonderfully and completely off the
rail, like it SHOULD be! The first story arc, “IN THE DARK”, has ended but
I will not reiterate the ending as to not ruin it for those who haven't read it yet.
The group consists of:
MADAME XANADU, DEADMAN, ZATANNA, JOHN COSTANTINE, SHADE, and MINDWARP.
These titles are only in their beginning stages but I've compiled a
FANCAST for them anyway, JUST FOR FUN! :D :D :D
MY TRIPLE-CAST OF THE “NEW 52” JL, JUSTICE LEAGUE, JUSTICE
LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL & JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK:
For the director I chose J.J. ABRAMS. He makes movies that are fresh but respect the
source material. And of course I think it should be his usual writers to write the script,
ROBERTO ORCI & ALEX KURTZMAN.
J.J. ABRAMS: STAR TREK (FILM)
I think HENRY CAVILL will be a great CLARK KENT/SUPERMAN so I have him
here for my NEW 52 JUSTICE LEAGUE film casting.
HENRY CAVILL: TRISTAN & ISOLDE, STARDUST, IMMORTALS (FILM), THE
SUPERMAN (CLARK KENT):
HENRY CAVILL- 6'1”
TAYLOR COLE is a tall athletic actress and is really looking WONDER WOMAN-
like on CSI:MIAMI. She towers over most of the crew on there, even the men (lol).
TAYLOR COLE: THE SURROGATES, GREEN HORNET (FILM), HEROES, THE
EVENT, CSI: MIAMI (TV)
WONDER WOMAN (DIANA PRINCE):
TAYLOR COLE- 5'8½”
ALEX O'LOUGHLIN (O'LOCKLUN) just looks like a young, handsome, pretty-boy
womanizer, billionaire, BRUCE WAYNE. He would look great along side
CAVILL'S CLARK KENT/SUPERMAN. If he could portray “MICK”, THE VAMPIRE
P.I., in CBS' “MOONLIGHT”, he can play BATMAN.
ALEX O'LOUGHLIN, 6': THE INVISIBLE, WHITEOUT (FILM), THE SHIELD,
MOONLIGHT, CRIMINAL MINDS, HAWAII 5-0 (TV)
BATMAN (BRUCE WAYNE):
JEFFREY DONOVAN is ruggedly handsome, with a hard edge to him that fits
THE DARK KNIGHT. He used to be my number one choice and is another great
JEFEREY DONOVAN, 6': HITCH, CHANGELING, J. EDGAR (FILM)
TOUCHING EVIL, CROSSING JORDAN, BURN NOTICE (TV)
BATMAN (BRUCE WAYNE):
I absolutely hated RYAN REYNOLDS as HAL JORDAN! HAL JORDAN is a serious guy
not a silly cut-up! RYAN REYNOLDS is not the ex-military test pilot, “HAL
JORDAN”,NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM! CHRIS PINE, on the other hand, would be
ideal as the serious yet witty HAL JORDAN, GREEN LANTERN.
CHRIS PINE: SMOKIN ACES, STAR TREK (FILM)
GREEN LANTERN (HAL JORDAN): CHRIS PINE- 6'1”
Since HENRY CAVILL is only 6'1” I think SCOTT PORTER (6') fits better as
BARRY ALLEN, FLASH.
SCOTT PORTER, 6': FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, CAPRICA (TV)
FLASH (BARRY ALLEN):
ALICIA WITT is a refined actress and fits this role extremely well. I
think this royal role needs someone older.
ALICIA WITT, 5'8”: VANILLA SKY, 88 MINUTES (FILM), THE SOPRANOS,
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, THE MENTALIST (TV)
PHILIP WINCHESTER is ripped like a swimmer and is a classically trained
actor. He won awards for his acting on the BRITISH stage when he was still
quite youngand he's an AMERICAN actor, quite impressive! He would perform
AQUAMAN as the regal, iconic character he is. I like ALEXANDER SKARSGARD
(6'4”) for it if SUPERMAN was played by a VERY tall actor but CAVILL is
PHILIP WINCHESTER, 6': SOLOMON KANE, IN MY SLEEP (FILM) CRUSOE, WAREHOUSE 13, FRINGE, CAMELOT (TV)
AQUAMAN (ARTHUR CURRY):
MEHCAD BROOKS is a rising star and I think he's ideal for the big high
school football star who is horribly injured in a traffic accident and put
back together with powerful cybernetic replacement parts.....“ALIEN”
MEHCAD BROOKS, 6'3”: IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH (FILM), TRUE BLOOD (TV)
CYBORG (VICTOR “VIC” STONE):
MEHCAD BROOKS- 6'3”
BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD is a gorgeous, phenomenal actress. Her acting
prowess would shine through all the prosthetic make-up and CGI. This role
would be best if prosthetics were mixed with CGI. It may seem like BRYCE
is too “BIG” for this part but to pull it off successfully it takes an
extremely proficient actress. Plus she's tall (for a woman). I think she
would be fantastically heroic as the female “METAMORPHO”.
BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD, 5'8”: THE VILLAGE, SPIDERMAN 3,
TERMINATOR SALVATION, THE HELP (FILM)
ELEMENT WOMAN (EMILY SUNG):
BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD + CGI
MIKE VOGEL is the spitting image of this fiery figure, both mentally & physically.
MIKE VOGEL, 5'10”: THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2005) SHE'S OUT
OF MY LEAGUE (FILM)
FIRESTORM (RONNIE RAYMOND):
JAMES MARSDEN has the physique to play this “incredible shrinking man”.
RAY PALMER is not a short person, he only shrinks down.
JAMES MARSDEN, 5'10”: X-MEN, X2, SUPERMAN RETURNS (FILM)
ATOM (RAY PALMER):
KARL URBAN just has “HAWK-LIKE EYES, don't you think? I like JOE
MANGANIELLO for HAWKMAN if superman is a really tall guy.
KARL URBAN: LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING, THE
CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, THE BOURNE SUPREMACY, STAR TREK,
HAWKMAN (CARTER HALL):
KARL URBAN- 6'2”
CHARLIE is my permanent choice for the movie GREEN ARROW.
CHARLIE HUNNAM: SONS OF ANARCHY (TV)
GREEN ARROW (OLIVER QUEEN):
LADY LUCK is going to be part of the NEW 52 REBOOT. SCARLETT JOIHANSSON
fits her very well, I believe! I think she could do BLACK WIDOW & LADY
SCARLETT JOHANSSON: IRON-MAN 2, THE AVENGERS (FILM)
LADY LUCK (BRENDA BANKS):
LUKE GOSS would be chilling as the “ghostly” DEADMAN.
LUKE GOSS: BLADE II, HELLBOY: THE GOLDEN ARMY, TEKKEN (FILM)
DEADMAN (BOSTON BRAND):
Is it just me or does craggy MICHAEL IRONSIDE hardly need any CGI or make-
up to play this part? lmao
STARSHIP TROOPERS (FILM), SMALLVILLE (TV)
DARKSEID: MICHAEL IRONSIDE + CGI
PARADEMONS: ALL CGI + ELECTRONIC VOICE
JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL:
ZACK'S style would lend itself to the multinational ensemble here.
ZACK SNYDER:300, WATCHMEN (FILM)
RYAN has the right blend of square-jawed blond good looks and goofy
comedic timing to play the current leader of the JLI. (Man, they need to
bring BLUE BEETLE (JIAME REYES) in here pronto!)
RYAN MCPARTLIN, 6'3”: J. EDGAR (FILM), CHUCK, CSI: MIAMI (TV)
BOOSTER GOLD (MICHAEL JON CARTER):
The artists are obviously drawing this sexy AFRICAN super-woman (who is able to manifest all the powers of the Animal Kingdom) in the likeness of
HALLE BERRY but after X-MEN and especially CATWOMAN, I don't want HALLE
going anywhere near any CBM EVER AGAIN! MARSHA THOMASON would be
absolutely “FOXY” as the sexy, feral VIXEN.
MARSHA THOMASON, 5'8”: THE HAUNTED MANSION (FILM), LIFE, LOST,
WHITE COLLAR (TV)
VIXEN (MARI JIWE MCCABE):
(See JUSTICE LEAGUE.)
BATMAN (BRUCE WAYNE):
BATMAN (BRUCE WAYNE):
JESSICA ALBA is my pick for the SMOKIN' & SPICY “super-hottie” from BRAZIL.
JESSICA ALBA did not fit SUE STORM but she is perfect for FIRE.
I prefer FIRE'S wonderfully hot skimpy green outfit? DIDIO & JIM LEE are covering
up the DC women superheroes from neck to toe. It's ridiculous, they're ruining iconic
costumes! This is PC gone completely overboard! In this case PC stands for “PURE
JESSICA ALBA, 5'7”: SIN CITY, FANTASTIC FOUR, THE KILLER INSIDE ME,
MACHETE (FILM) DARK ANGEL (TV)
FIRE (BEATRIZ BONILLA DE COSTA):
JENSEN ACKLES = GUY GARDNER-- PLAIN & SIMPLE!
JENSEN ACKLES, 6'1”: MY BLOODY VALENTINE (FILM), DARK ANGEL,
SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL (TV)
GUY GARDNER (GREEN LANTERN):
I formerly liked ELISHA CUTHBERT for ICE until I found out she is only
5'2”. LAURA VANDERVOORT is 5'7” and looks NORDIC. She may have played
SUPERGIRL on SMALLVILLE but she is really very fitting for ICE.
LAURA VANDERVOORT, 5'7”: THIS MEANS WAR (FILM), SMALLVILLE, V (TV)
ICE (TORA OLAFSDOTTER):
JOSEPH GATT is a classically-trained British stage-actor with some quite
peculiar physical characteristics. He fits GAVRIL IVANOVICH precisely!
JOSEPH GATT: THOR (FILM), CHUCK (TV)
ROCKET RED (GAVRIL IVANOVICH):
UK actress SAMMY WINWARD fits this gorgeous golden-tressed Brit super-
“HAIR”-OINE to the “T”. She has “hair” powers similar to MARVEL'S MEDUSA.
GODIVA (DORA LEIGH):
I believe JASON'S portrayal of this indomitable character would be “IRONCLAD”.
JASON SCOTT LEE, 6'1”: DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY, SOLDIER (FILM)
AUGUST GENERAL IN IRON (FANG ZHIFU):
JASON SCOTT LEE- 6'1” + CGI
CGI + KEITH DAVID (VOICE)
THE SIGNALMEN, giant alien robots.
RICHARD T. JONES plays an asshole government official very well. ANDRE
BRIGGS is the HEAD OF U.N. INTELLIGENCE.....and that's an OXYMORON. lmao
RICHARD T. JONES
She is ANDRE BRIGGS assistant and an ally of the JLI.
JILL FLINT: CADILLAC RECORDS (FILM), NURSE JACKIE, THE GOOD WIFE,
ROYAL PAINS (TV)
JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK
GILLERMO DEL TORO: HELLBOY, HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY, HELLBOY 3
EMMANUELLE CHRIQUI fits this “forever young” blind soothsayer perfectly!
EMMANUELLE CHRIQUI: YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN
CADILLAC RECORDS, ELEKTRA LUXX, FIVE DAYS OF WAR (FILM),
THE MENTALIST (TV)
MADAME XANADU (NIMUE INWUDU):
(SEE JUSTICE LEAGUE)
LUKE GOSS: BLADE II, HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY, TEKKEN (FILM)
DEADMAN (BOSTON BRAND):
I love her for a JL movie's “MAGIC MAIDEN”! She has a very dark,
enchanting quality to her like SERINDA SWAN did on SMALLVILLE. A lot of
people want her for WONDER WOMAN but I believe she's a tad too short for
the AMAZONIAN PRINCESS.
JULIA VOTH, 5'7”: BITCHSLAP (FILM)
ZATANNA (ZATANNA ZATARA):
EWAN MCGREGOR fits JOHN COSTANTINE like a glove, a well-worn glove.
EWAN MCGREGOR: STAR WARS: EPISODE I- THE PHANTOM MENACE,
STAR WARS: EPISODE II- ATTACK OF THE CLONES, STAR WARS: EPISODE
III- REVENGE OF THE SITH, ANGELS & DEMONS (FILM)
JOHN CONSTANTINE (HELLBLAZER):
I, myself, don't get why JOHN CARTER bombed so badly! I thought TAYLOR
KITSCH was great in it! So was LYNN COLLINS! I believe TAYLOR would
be a very fitting RAC SHADE, he looks exactly like him!
TAYLOR KITSCH: WOLVERINE: ORIGINS, JOHN CARTER (FILM)
SHADE (RAC SHADE):
DAVID PAETKAU is no stranger to horror, he was one of the stars of the second
FINAL DESTINASTION, the poor bastard who has the fire after him courtesy of
DAVID PAETKAU: FINAL DESTINATION 2 (FILM)
MINDWARP (JAY YOUNG):
I believe ASHLEE SIMPSON would be extremely effective playing the
mega-powerful super-sorceress ENCHANTRESS, who's torn between the light
and the dark.ENCHANTRESS is redheaded in the NEW-52.
ASHLEE SIMPSON: THE HOT CHICK, UNDISCOVERED (FILM)
Just give ALONA TAL blue contacts and you have the young JUNE MOONE who
transforms into the mega-sorceress ENCHANTRESS, when she speaks the word
ALONA TAL: SUPERNATURAL, THREE INCHES (TV)
