TO EVERYONE who is highly anticipating this film...why does it look so great to you?

I haven't read the book myself, but when this movie was announced, I was pretty excited. The plot sounded good, and the art from the books was amazing. But as soon as I saw the trailer, my excitement plummeted. It's looks like a crappy cross between Prince of Persia/Avatar/Cowboys&Aliens.

I'm not saying this movie will suck, but I just don't understand what makes it look so awesome to everyone else?

Last I was on Mars, the people were alot shorter...and not as green. Ahhh, evolution. I guess Darwinism IS true.

But I though I was created? Hummm, NOW what do I believe... Ahhhh, I got it!

I was created THEN evolved through mutation and natural selection !

Thank God my parents were Leopard slugs.

It definitely looks a thousand times better than the "Princess of Mars" film that came out a couple of years ago. I should have read the DVD case better when it listed Tracy Lords as Dejah Thoris:P

It's a Disney film? Well, then. It's gonna be shit. Nice SFX though.

@ thatcoldblackcloud - the fact it is Disney is nothing to be worried about! Disney have their fingers in pretty much EVERY movie released in one way or another. They have released some seriously intense movies. They're not just lolly pops and sickening happy endings.

This movie is looking AWESOME! I just hope it lives up to it. I get the feeling it's going to turn out to be a Star Wars prequel. I seriously hope I'm wrong but still, the niggling sensation of badly scripted/acted, pop corn fest with no depth of soul lingers like the shadow of deaths rusty scythe over an OAP's cancer ridden frail form.

Prove me wrong!!!!

@Rhys

For me, it's a film based on a hundred year old tale that have inspired many of my favorite films, including Star Wars. Plus, Andrew Stanton (writer/director of Finding Nemo & Wall•E; and co-writer of many other PIXAR animations) is creatively behind this. Disney seems to have inserted their memorable classic movie magic into this. And it's in Digital IMAX 3D. When's the last time we've seen Green Martians done right? Willem Dafoe did a great job as a Green Goblin, so... I think this film looks good.

Anyone notice how the movie poster looks like a book cover? Cool nod.

Those white apes...fantastic. The rest look as great.

Rhys: Because it's based on a century-old amazing book which has inspired a lot of other sci-fi franchises (if not all), and as a movie alone , it's in the right hands. Everything else should be each's personal opinion...if you don't think it's great, then stay with it and let others like it. :)

And I don't get why so many people think it looks like a rip-off of Prince of Persia. Because of the desserts? Or the protagonist's hairstlye? I love Prince of Persia (the video games...though the movie was fine, too), but this is radically different from it. Come on.

The books is completely great.
For those who think that this movie looks like Avatar, even Avatar was influenced by Pocahontas story.

When i saw that pic of Mark Strong, i see Sinestro with the army of Sinestro Corps! Just imagining.

While reading the excellent books, I never pictured the Tharks or Tars Tarkas so THIN. It makes them seem puny, despite their height. I pictured them more like the bigger Tharks that are pictured behind the villain in pic #2. I hope they have a story explanation for the difference.

^^^Yes Tars is too thin! More Adrien Brody than Ahnuld by far in this adaptation LOL. I wish they made him look more like the renderings in League of Exraordinary Gents, vol. 2..they're much more gladatorial. He just looks malnourished!

Otherwise im looking fwd to this...especially after seeing the 2nd trailer
