Four Unused Posters For WATCHMEN Revealed

Warner Brothers have released a lot of posters for the Zack Snyder-directed film Watchmen, back in 2008/2009 when they were promoting the big screen adaptation of the critically acclaimed graphic novel. Now, four cool poster designs have appeared online, so check them out...

"Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" -- which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union -- is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the masked vigilante Rorschach, washed up but determined, sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion -- a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers -- Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the Watchmen?

WYLEEJAY - 9/25/2013, 10:12 AM
I loved this movie. One of the few that I actually prefer the movie over the comic.
HulkbusterNYC - 9/25/2013, 10:21 AM
Great movie.. Left me wanting more Watchmen
RexDartEskimoSpy - 9/25/2013, 10:23 AM
Can't imagine why they didn't use the Rorschach one, what with it featuring the Twin Towers...
Jollem - 9/25/2013, 10:27 AM

BigMikeReviews - 9/25/2013, 10:29 AM
@Mantinium haha keep this up, your caricature of a DC fanboy is entertaining. Love the all caps touch as well, IT REALLY MAKES IT SEEM AS THOUGH YOU ARE YELLING THUS DRAWING AS MUCH ATTENTION AS POSSIBLE!!

Just read two Watchmen GNs, Minutemen/Silk Spectre and Rorschach/Comedian. Loved both of these!
That first poster on Lady Liberty is badass!

@MAC
I'm pretty sure Silk Spectre was originally meant to be Black Canary. Comedian was The Peacemaker.

And of course, the problem with using the characters that DC acquired from Charlton Comics, is that it sort of removed a lot of them from play... at least for the time being.
CharlesLord - 9/25/2013, 11:04 AM
i like the liberty one and the apocalypse one.
nach1wan - 9/25/2013, 11:16 AM
the director's cut is easily the best DC movie
Jollem - 9/25/2013, 11:33 AM

Caps stuck?

And yeah, Watchmen is a great movie.
MementoMori - 9/25/2013, 11:53 AM
@Jollem - That art is amazing. Never seen that exact one. Featuring two of my top 5 favorites ever. Rorschach and Constantine up front. Just amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed, Director's Cut of Watchmen is amazing. Saw this one in theaters way back when. Agreed with all that Jackie Earle Haley absolutely nailed Rorschach. He need's the respect that performance deserves.
MementoMori - 9/25/2013, 11:59 AM
needs. Damn, cannot ignore typo.
JoeMomma29 - 9/25/2013, 12:13 PM
One of the best CBMs out there.
FerFogs - 9/25/2013, 12:24 PM
Awesome movie. Period. Too long my ass, you're spolied kids with those 2/half hour movies. 4 hour movies FTMFW!
aztecRaingod - 9/25/2013, 1:04 PM
The Avengers before The Avengers. Terrific movie, it gets better each time I watch it.
manofmidgard - 9/25/2013, 1:14 PM
woulda been a decent movie except for all the full frontal blue penis shots. I mean, who the fr!ck wants to see that? seems like an ultra-powerful being like that might be able to conjure himself up a loincloth or something.
Jollem - 9/25/2013, 1:17 PM
@MementoMori - hell yeah, dude. they're all characters alan moore has written for, including darth vader in there. he wrote him some star wars comics
Jollem - 9/25/2013, 1:20 PM
dr. m's weiner hanging out would probably not even cross his mind about it being an unacceptable thing in human society. if he is aware of it, he probably doesn't care :)
SirJediFrank - 9/25/2013, 1:51 PM
Great really great movie. I enjoyed A LOT the Black "Freigther" dvd also.

And specially the bonus "documentary" . With the interviews . How was it called? Behind what..?
Demonluv - 9/25/2013, 1:57 PM
@manofmidgard
not everyone appreciates censorship, or is insecure enough to care.
DaVinci31 - 9/25/2013, 2:01 PM
Best opening scene and CBM ever...

BIGBMH - 9/25/2013, 3:50 PM
Not a fan of Watchmen. Didn't really like the graphic novel that much and I didn't like the movie much either (although I am glad they took out that squid). I find both to be respectable work, but I think like many things that are held in very high esteem, a lot of people love Watchmen partially because it is so highly praised and they go in with the attitude of "this is brilliance."
JediPhilosopher - 9/25/2013, 4:10 PM
I can understand why these were unused. Each had something a bit off about it.
marvel72 - 9/25/2013, 4:36 PM
don't think much of those posters but saying that watchmen ultimate cut is the best dc movie ever!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/25/2013, 4:41 PM
Glad they weren't
Jollem - 9/25/2013, 4:47 PM
@BIGBMH - s'alright. i'm sure there are some people out there who don't like sex also :)
MementoMori - 9/25/2013, 6:41 PM
@jollem- Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. All characters from the mind of alan moore. Great art. Really. Do you know where to find this or the name of this exact painting? It just blows my mind as I've never seen it before.
Ceejay - 9/25/2013, 9:00 PM
Watchmen The Ultimate Cut remains the greatest comic book movie ever made.
Brady1138 - 9/25/2013, 9:04 PM
They're okay, but I'm glad they didn't go with them.
Jollem - 9/25/2013, 9:39 PM
@MementoMori - search "alex ross alan moore". don't know if you saw it already, but alan moore is the ethereal figure in the middle
FerFogs - 9/26/2013, 9:17 AM
@BIGBMH - highly praised? Only CB fans like it actually... And sadly.
