Its starting to seem less likely each day that the anticipated spring start date for 'Ghostbusters 3', wont be happening, and now the films writer Lee Eisenberg and it's producer Joe Medjuck give us some insight on the films status.

So far Sony Pictures, Harold Ramis, Dan Ackroyd and Ivan Reitman have already signed-off on the much revised Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky screenplay, and as of right now, the only thing keeping production at a stand still, is Bill Murray. And it should be noted that Bill Murray is one of the five rights holders to the 'Ghostbusters' franchise, so without him, this film doesn't happen.

Here's what Eisenerg had to say:

“Right now, we have a script we haven’t worked on probably in a couple of months, and we’re waiting for Bill Murray to read it. People seem excited about it, and the studio seems high on it. … We’re very proud of it. We worked really hard on it, and I think it’d be a really fun movie.”

Joe Medjeck attended a screening recently for 'Ghostbusters' and took part in a Q&A, and obviously 'Ghostbusters 3' came up:

Sony says they’d like to make it, everyone thinks it’s a good script. Bill has heard it’s a good script, but he hasn’t read it. Bill’s like that – he just says he’s busy.

Harold tells a very funny story about the several months it took to get Bill to read the script for Groundhog Day. Every week or so, [Bill] would go up to Harold and say, “You know, I read 10 pages… they’re really good. Is it going to stay this good?”

He hasn’t even read 10 pages [of Ghostbusters 3] yet, to the best of our knowledge.

[Regarding the original Ghostbusters] Bill just committed to it… he just said yes. He went to India to make The Razor’s Edge. I don’t think he even read the script [for Ghostbusters] until he arrived back, [and] the day he came back, we shot with him.”

Bill Murray needs to get his act together and sign off on this film, even if he doesn't want to star in it, just do it for the fans, we've all been waiting long enough.

Ok your whole comment was fine, and then you had to go and do the whole first thing, so now I'm going to delete it.
Spilox - 2/3/2011, 9:19 AM
Comedian@ And now it's deleted! It's nice to feel like a god isn't it :p. Lets slander the First sayer some more and throw rotten tomato's at him while binded on the town square.

Anywho, a part of me wishes they'll make a third part. But another part of me just want's to keep his childhood memory's alive and not have them raped. Like what happen with indiana jones 4.
It's probably the same story with most fans of the franchise. I did buy the ps3 game a couple of weeks back and i realy enjoyed it, because of the old cast doing the voicework and such.
StrangerX - 2/3/2011, 9:44 AM
I'm confused has he read the script or not.
DukeAcureds - 2/3/2011, 9:50 AM
Comedian@ Yeah, but I did it with style. (Fourth!!)
Spilox@ They already raped our childhood with Ghostbusters II, which was little more than a curtain call. A GB3 would so make up for that if it was even half as good as the original.

The Murray / Ramis feud aside, I woudln't put all my trust in what Ramis thinks is funny anymore - he hasn't been to 'on-target' in recent years. Remember, he DID write the screeplay for the POS's 'Year One' and 'Bedazzled'! As for Sony wanting to make the film, the only thing they're interested in is the CASH, plain and simple!
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 2/3/2011, 10:09 AM
JUST FAWKIN SIGN ON MURRAY!!!
killzonev2 - 2/3/2011, 10:59 AM
@loganoneil

ramis and akroyd did write the script for the ghostbusters video game so he still might have some magic left on ghostbusters because the game actually was pretty good with an enjoyable story. but yeah year one sucked and im not familiar with bedazzled

i pray to the movie gods everyday for ghostbusters 3

everyday...
JaySchluffy - 2/3/2011, 11:10 AM
I really really hope this never see's the light of day.
nuck82 - 2/3/2011, 11:10 AM
bedazzled was a fun movie, but in know way good lol
Shaman - 2/3/2011, 11:32 AM
Hey i LOVED Bedazzled!!! Or did i just love staring at Liz Hurley for an hour and a half? What was the movie about again?

TheCrisisKing- You're honestly telling me that he'd be more "ashamed" of Ghostbusters 2 than of Charlie's Angels and being a special agent hidden in a tree for five minutes in Get Smart??? I'm certain he's done worse than that. Like say... the voice of Garfield or... The Man Who Knew Too Little? Ghostbusters 2 might not have been good but it's not a huge enough abomination for anyone to really think they can't come up with a film just as good if not better than the first. Christ, Ghostbusters 2 wasn't Catwoman, Superman 4, Elektra, Ghost Rider or Batman and Robin bad, was it? Now you've got me doubting... i'd have to go through it again...
marvel72 - 2/3/2011, 11:45 AM
i don't think this film will ever happen.
thedon786 - 2/3/2011, 11:59 AM
hope it gets done
StrangerX - 2/3/2011, 12:17 PM
I was hoping this would at least start filming this fall.
revloveR - 2/3/2011, 12:45 PM
I love Bill Murray, but they might as well reboot it. this shit is like Guns n Roses's chinese democracy.
HavocT - 2/3/2011, 1:16 PM
My dad knew Harold Ramis for awhile, had dinner and stuff with him. It was years ago he told us it was always Bill that held them back... Bill Murray's kind of an ass in reality too.
JoshJones - 2/3/2011, 2:16 PM
I don't even want this movie to happen anymore. Just let it go. Bill Murray obviously isn't into it, and I don't blame him. He's moved on with his career. Sure, he hit some speed bumps(Garfield, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties), but other than those he's really matured his taste in his roles. I just want to see him work with Wes Anderson more. He ALWAYS steals the show in his movies.
SpideyQuad - 2/3/2011, 3:19 PM
Heeeyyy I thought Bill Murry died in Zombieland!

Something fishy is going on here. Somebody needs to tell these guys!
Vital - 2/3/2011, 3:59 PM
Can't they get it going by majority shares? If the 4 of the 5 want it to happen, why can't they move forward? Hell, if Murray is going to be such a lazy, dickhead about it, take his ass to court. Sony has more than enough money to win that case. Especially if all 4 main shareholders fight against him. I don't give a shit what Bill thinks anymore, I don't. He isn't the million of diehard Ghostbuster fans out there who have been waiting for [frick]ing decades. If the fans want it, why not? He doesn't even have to be in it. Leave em out. We don't need him holding everyone else back. That's [frick]ed up on his part. Everyone BUT him is gung ho for it. I'm upset. What a douche lol.
DeadPoolLax - 2/3/2011, 5:16 PM
i dont know why they just dont reboot it. i think that would be better than making a third one. they wont have to worry about certain people signing on. or maybe they will, i dont know. but none the less, i'm looking forward to another ghostbusters movie.
ShadowkinG - 2/3/2011, 5:23 PM
Whats the big Effin deal Billyboy
Batman15 - 2/3/2011, 9:04 PM
BILL [frick]IN HURRY AND SAY YES... TIME IS WASTING UR GETTING OLD HAHA I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE IF ITS MADE!
Joe6Pack74 - 2/3/2011, 9:12 PM
Bill Murray was also an ass to Orange County Choppers. Somebody needs to do the man a favor and kick his ass for him. They should just reboot the franchise and go all 'Dark Knight' with it. Screw the comedy. JK btw.
frontierpsychiatrist - 2/3/2011, 9:22 PM
I said it in the last article posted here, they need to reboot this thing and get a new cast while having the old cast do a cameo. This guys are past their comedic prime and bill probably doesnt want to damage our childhood memories of how good those movies where. Please remember How bad the last Indiana Jones movie was. Times have change! and I say this with all do respect.
Fumbles - 2/4/2011, 7:50 AM
Am I the only one that is on Bill Murray's side? If he's not on board I am not on board. Have you people seen the crap that Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman have done, and going into it have said... "oh yea this is going to be great" (Year One? Blues Brothers 2000? Caddyshack 2?)... granted Bill Murray has had his drops in movies as well, but out of all the people involved, he is the only person I really care about. If you take out Bill Murray you have no Peter Venkman, and if there is no Peter Venkman there is no Ghostbusters!
loganoneil - 2/4/2011, 10:35 AM
Nelb4Zod - You're not the only one on Bill's side. Like I said before:

"...I woudln't put all my trust in what Ramis thinks is funny anymore - he hasn't been to 'on-target' in recent years. Remember, he DID write the screeplay for the POS's 'Year One' and 'Bedazzled'! As for Sony wanting to make the film, the only thing they're interested in is the CASH, plain and simple!"
Vital - 2/5/2011, 2:16 AM
The old members are cameoing in their own movie, and passing on the torch to a new team, so why does Peter Venkman need to be in it? We will have NEW Ghostbusters. They spoke about this several times.
