There has definitely been no shortage of rumors this past year surrounding the Farrelly Brothers planned film 'The Three Stooges', casting rumors have claimed that Knoxville, Andy Samberg, Benecio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Jim Carrey have all at one point been rumored to star as various characters in the upcoming adaption.

Now it's looking Johnny Knoxville might actually be close to signing on to the film to star as Moe Howard. Bob Farrelly was recently quoted as saying "Knoxville is a real-life stooge. He’s a real-life Moe.“

Reportedly, official plans are not underway but word is that the brothers are very eager to cast Knoxville in the role and he is said to be interested in the role as well.

Here's what the brothers had to say when asked about the direction they'll be taking with the movie:
This isn’t a Farrelly version of The Three Stooges. This is The Three Stooges. And, it’s not a biopic, by the way. We’ve written three new episodes. The movie is actually three episodes that go back to back to back. Each one picks up where the other one left off. We want you to look at it and say, ‘It’s Moe, Larry and Curly!,’ so we have very high standards on this route.”

The Farrelly Brothers are hoping to start filming 'The Three Stooges' sometime this spring or summer.

There was this episode of TTS where there was this King or whatever. And they were doing their slap routine and some how the King ends up punching himself in the face. I remember rolling on the floor laughing at that as kid. The show was so [frick]in violent.

Jack Black as Curly

@ Dahamma
For one, a lot of people find this kind of stuff interesting.
And two, it used to be a comic-book series.

Comedian03 - 3/10/2011, 9:49 PM
And @earzmundo

Dude seriously, who cares if stuff like this gets posted on main, it's comic-book related, and it's interesting to a lot of people, and it's a relatively slow news day. If you don't like the content then either don't read it, don't write a bunch of crap in the comments, or write Jim about it. The only thing today I posted that wasn't comic-book related was the Super 8 synopsis. It's only on the rare occasion that I post anything that has nothing to do with comic-book movies.

And I'm not saying you don't write good articles, from what I've seen you do but unfortunately I don't have the ability to put other users articles on the front page.

Johnny Knoxville is very funny and looks the part of Moe. There are a few actor that could pull off Curly, but who in the hell could they get to play Larry! I can't even think of one actor that looks a little like him. We all have to realize that ever who they get for all three parts will have to have some serious acting skills. Slapstick isn't as easy as it sounds.
patriautism - 3/10/2011, 11:36 PM
@RacerREX I know he already played him, that's exactly why I made the suggestion. He did awesome IMO. So you just went off on a huge useless rant about something I already knew. In fact you can watch the whole movie on youtube.
All I said was one sentence, and you made a number of assumptions about it ( that I've never heard of 2 movies that I've watched, Wired and Three Stooges, and that I named Chiklis just because he was bald). Do you realize that debating on assumption just makes you sound like an asshole, and not smart at all?
Dude, next time maybe take the time to find out someones reasoning, before trying to argue against it.
