Star Wars in a nutshell

A normal sterile boring guy who god all of the sudden decides to F*** with by taking away his mother, then his wife, his best friend, and later two children, whose put into a position of power with his only joy coming from killing people until his 19 year old son comes to kill him.




Star Wars in a nutshell if the prequels were never to take place

A ordinary teenager wants to be a war hero and learns about his father from an old sage before blowing up the empire’s weapon of mass destruction with the ability to destroy the rebel alliance, and later learns the way of the force to become more like his father only to realize later that his father is a tyrant working with the emperor, who ends up redeeming himself in the end by killing the emperor and destroys the empire.

Yyyyyeeeaah, this doesn't really prove how the Star Wars movies are overated.

The point of this editorial is futile (but that is the Star Wars series in a nutshell, so one thing is done in this editorial).

Even without the prequels, I always thought the series was really about Darth Vader and his path to redemption. And the main character, Luke, was just a plot device to push him on that path.

I can tolerate hearing films such as Spider-Man 2, Star Trek, or even The Dark Knight be called 'overrated', but crapping on the greatest sci-fi series of all time (if not across all genres) isn't gonna work. Heck, even the prequels were awesome (except AOTC had some very unnecessary dialogue). Then again, I'm such a huge SW fan I'll take in nearly anything from the franchise (yes, even the Clone Wars TV show/movie).

The prequels to Star Wars are truly awful films but they, in no way, detract anything from the original three. I just watched the original the other day and after 35 years......that film STILL beats any other science fiction film out there. All three of the first films are incredible and changed the entire game of sci fi on film. Nothing will ever change that.
