EDITORIAL: Thoughts On THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

My thoughts on the upcoming Batman finale.

The Dark Knight Rises is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. It is Christopher Nolan's Batman finale to his amazing and truely epic trilogy, Batman Begins started it and was fantastic and The Dark Knight made the hype and the excitment even greater. But, all of the so called Nolanites and all that other Bull crap is the reason I'm not all that excited for The Dark Knight Rises like I wanna be. I'm not here to make theories on who the characters of John Blake and Miranda Tate really are, I'm here to give my thoughts so here we go.

Casting: Like everyone else, I love the cast of the entire trilogy and saddend of Heath Ledger's passing. But I feel this movie has the potential to be the best Batman film yet, despite my feelings towards DC because of me as a Marvel fan more than other comic companies. I am not a big fan of casting Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman but I feel either her or Tom Hardy as Bane is gonna steal the entire movie like Heath Ledger did as The Joker in The Dark Knight.

What we know: Between all the little we know about the film, it seems to be an awesome movie although it's apparently basically left the superhero genre and is an all out war movie. Liam Neeson returns as Ra's al ghul which makes for lots of speculations. For me, it's hard to write about something we don't know a whole lot about.

Look: Batman's costume always gets a small adjustment or two, although unless you look real close on screen, you can't even tell. I personally love Bane's new look. It's a very intense look and you can tell he's all about buisness, while Anne Hathaway's Catwoman is bugging me like hell. I do not like her look, I'd highly perfer the look from Arkham City. But that is just me.

Final thoughts: It's a given that it's gonna be wildly huge and I have faith in the cast and crew it'll be an amazing movie but all the hype everyone is giving it is ruining the movie for me and I'm starting to not wanna see it at all. Overall, I can't wait.

It'll be an amazing movie but all of the hype is ruining it for you and you're starting to not wanna see it at all?

Good God, think for yourself.

@Irons & supersaiyanfan1: Basically I meant that people are over hyping the movie and I really am not wanting to see it because of all of it.
Irons - 4/15/2012, 12:13 PM
I know what you meant. If you think it is going to be amazing then why are you going to let other people's thoughts make you not want to see it. That's a pseudo-contrarian/hipster mentality. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

"all the hype everyone is giving it is ruining the movie for me and I'm starting to not wanna see it at all. Overall, I can't wait."

Definition of contradiction!

On behalf of the CBM community we apologize for ruining a movie you have not yet seen. If there is anything we can do to redeem this film for you please let us know.

Sorry for stating my opinions. Don't got to be a dick about it. People aren't over hyping The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers, I see Avengers being hyped as a big movie but I don't see people over hyping it.
TonyChu - 4/15/2012, 6:13 PM
Nice write up dude, your articles are getting better and better. Keep it up. But that last statement was a contradiction like a mother[frick]er.
MercMatt - 4/15/2012, 7:20 PM
I'm looking forward to the Avengers more than anything, but saying it's not being over-hyped like TDKR is kind of crazy. The Avengers has been the MOST hyped movie of the year, while TDKR has been on the receiving end of some of the most harsh criticisms. At this point, TASM is getting more hype than TDKR. The Avengers, imo, is prolly going to own the Summer box office, but I'm hoping that TDKR exceeds expectations, along with TASM. TDKR has been less promoted, and less talked about. Not including the fanboy wars in ever comment section. And, my friend, that last sentence of yours, as pointed out above, is indeed a true representation of a contradiction. But great article, non-the-less. Keep it up, man.

yeah good read buddy

hey you got my list of films to watch?

Advice man, More words, less pictures. The big pictures take away from the eyeflow of the article. The one thing you want in an editorial is to have your words and possible pics balance each other.

Good read.

"all the hype everyone is giving it is ruining the movie for me and I'm starting to not wanna see it at all. Overall, I can't wait."

Soooo...you say all the hype has made you not want to see it, then your very next sentence says you can't wait to see it.

lol, hysterical
supermaustify - 4/16/2012, 9:33 AM
@ghostriderfan1 "people are over hyping the movie bla bla bla".. you wrote a whole entire article about the movie!!! so don't try to act like your not one of those people!
EdgyOutsider - 4/16/2012, 9:49 AM
@supermaustify: No, I wanted to state my opinions on the movie. I have honestly never hyped up the movie at all to be honest. This article is about the movie so you can say in the article I kinda hyped it up but that would be all the hyping I did for it since they announced the movie.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/16/2012, 7:13 PM
So, the reason you choose not to like something is because of what other people think? Why not ignore what other people think and make up your own mind?
EdgyOutsider - 4/17/2012, 8:36 AM
No, It's not that I don't like the movie. I wanna see it, but I feel people are over hyping the movie and it's ruining the movie for me in the sense of I want to see it almost not at all (exaggeration)
