When asked to comment on Steven Spielberg's recent comments that comic book movies will soon go the way of the Western movie, director Zack Snyder made comments that shook up fan boys around the world. Specifically, his statement likening Ant-Man to "flavor of the week" material that will lead to the genre's demise has caused a lot of debate. There are more than a few comic book enthusiasts who have long railed against the Marvel Studios formula, calling it generic and cookie-cutter. Whereas two years after Man of Steel, the world is still talking about the climactic showdown between Superman and General Zod. As a counterpoint, how many people are still talking about Thor: The Dark World? On the other hand, Marvel is now a box office powerhouse, whose name alone guarantees hundreds of millions. And while some of their films may not leave a lasting impression, at this point, it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll laugh and have an enjoyable experience at a Marvel film.
