Stephen Dorff, who will be seen in Tarsem Singh's Immortals spoke to io9 about the film and what attracted him to the role of Stavros. However, at the end of the interview, the discussion turned to what seemingly is Dorff's passion project, a Deacon Frost/Blade prequel trilogy. Here's what was said:

On if the Deacon Frost movie(s) will ever be made:
Maybe, but I don't know. I mean me and Steve Norrington, who's a mad genius, want to do something together again, but he has a tricky time working in Hollywood. He doesn't really like studios, so we'll see. One day I can maybe summon him out. I wouldn't want to go near that with anybody but him. Also, Marvel seems to now be owned by Disney and they're doing all these different weird things, putting all these characters together, and group movies and strange things. It doesn't feel like we'd probably do it that way. We'd probably might conceive of something else, and do more of a graphic novel type thing is what we've been talking about.

On what the Deacon Frost prequel would focus on:
I don't know. The idea before was we were going to do almost a prequel like how he became a vampire because he was always, I guess, turned in the movie. He wasn't a true blood, he was like a half-blood, I don't know what they call it, its been so long. But we talked about kind-of how did Deacon become that guy. We were going to do almost a Scarface version in New York, really gritty. really mean, and almost show this lonely, empty guy and the transformation and set up almost our own little franchise with it. It's an idea that Steve had, it might not even be a Deacon Frost movie. It might be a whole new envisioning of a vampire movie, which maybe we will create now, so we're kind of up in the air. There's been a lot of different things written about it. Every time somebody asks me, I say something and then it's on Google, but it was a great character. It was way bigger than I ever thought. People still come up to me and talk to me about the movie, even though it's been like 12 something years.

With Marvel now reacquiring the rights to Blade, I'd say a Deacon Frost spin-off prequel has about as much chance of happening as Reed Richards showing up in The Avengers. Still, I will say that Dorff's Deacon Frost in Blade was one of the film's highlights and he was part of re-ushering superheroes back to the big screen so I have nothing but respect for the guy. Despite what asinine statements he might make about The Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Be sure to head over to io9 and read the whole interview which is mostly about Immortals and also includes quotes from the lovely Freida Pinto.

"Why, why? Why can't I get my Deacon Frost movie?"

i liked him as Deacon too, but i can't see a movie about Deacon Frost doing very well. At least not now, considering its been so long.

Mixed feelings about this idea. Norrington is also responsible for "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." Ugh.
emeraldprince - 7/29/2011, 7:05 AM
Happy bday Cat (mine was monday), so you're a LEO.
Big cats RULE!!!!! :-)
manymade1 - 7/29/2011, 7:06 AM
Happy B-Day to you @ CatwomanLover

I really can't see a standalone Deacon frost film, even though he rocked in Blade. Just thinking about it gives me a poker face.
PaulRom - 7/29/2011, 7:07 AM
Happy birthday @Catwomanlover :D
And yeah, I'd say a Deacon Frost film is pretty unlikely ATM. Especially since Marvel isn't planning on doing Blade anytime soon.
SCOURGE - 7/29/2011, 7:07 AM
It's mine too! I'm 38 today...
marvel72 - 7/29/2011, 7:08 AM
yeah good character in blade, but not good enough to have a movie about him.

@ catwomanlover

happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Scourge :D

This guy did a great job in the movie but doesn't seem like this interview has been done already. I think he is milking this a bit as I don't think his character would make a good movie at all. I might be a little bitter as he hit on my wife at a charity golf tournament, so I might just think he is a tool.
VIKEME - 7/29/2011, 7:15 AM
Does anyone else think he would make a pretty good Norman Osborn/Green Goblin?...

Might not look old enough for the part, but it could work.
marvel72 - 7/29/2011, 7:20 AM
@ SCOURGE

happy birthday

Frost was a kick-ass villain..
bellEND - 7/29/2011, 7:23 AM
This dude is dreaming.. Blade and Felon were the only good movies he has done.
redsoxdude - 7/29/2011, 7:25 AM
haha wow this turned into a birthday section. Happy birthday Catwomanlover and Scourge.

@Emeraldprince mine was monday too!

The only actor that should return from the original trilogy is Wesley Snipes. Marvel won't do a Blade 4. They will reboot it with Punisher.
plasticman - 7/29/2011, 8:17 AM
Why can't this guy go back to making instructional videos for golf? I had more respect for him then.

Someone's birthday...good thing you're wearing your suit. Or at least I hope you are.
JackBauer - 7/29/2011, 8:28 AM
He was ok as Frost. Nothing special. Definitely don't care for a Frost movie.

everybody wants a slice of the Marvel pie...

Stephen Dorff = Poor Man's Christian Slater. And Christian Slater hasn't done anything good since True Romance.
SHO1138 - 7/29/2011, 9:20 AM
He he wants to revisit old characters this would be the one

Steal, Deuces Wild, .45, and City of Industry were all great movies...Love Dorff but no Frost Prequel.
Shaman - 7/29/2011, 9:52 AM
The character's interesting, Dorff played him brilliantly and Norrington directed the first Blade film which IMO was the best of the series, not to mention that it still is one of my all time top 10 favorite cbms. What's not to like? Seriously, if they wanna make it, and if it doesn't prevent Marvel from making other cbms along side it, why the hell not? For all we know, it might be as good if not better than Interview with a Vampire. The only thing they have to look out for is to not over develop the character in the prequel, so that it overshadows what he became at his end in Blade. It would be money in the bank in this vampire fanbased generation. And it couldn't be as worse as Twilight even if it tried.
superbatspiderman - 7/29/2011, 9:59 AM
He was great as Frost even tho it wasn't the Frost from the comics. If he did return then they could make him look older so he could be more like the comic character.
Valar1 - 7/29/2011, 10:07 AM
lol, says people still come up to me and talk about the Deacon Frost role, well what the hell is a random guy going to talk to him about? Anything else he's in thats been memorable at all? S.F.W.?
SeaSerpentine - 7/29/2011, 10:31 AM
This guy likes his character way too much.
avengingson - 7/29/2011, 11:04 AM
What a tard. Yeah, it's "weird" that they're doing an Avengers movie. A DEACON FROST movie would be so much *less* weird than an Avengers movie!
Shaman - 7/29/2011, 11:18 AM
I missed the part where he insulted your mothers. Seriously, sensitive much? He finds a gathering of leads from several films as weird, probably cause it's never been done before. Christ, he even specifies it. What, you think he's alone in thinking it's "different" in a weird way? Get out of your basements. Put your helmets on if the fresh air makes you tipsy.
dailycomicsfix - 7/29/2011, 11:33 AM
.....you love him..... ;-)
Matador - 7/29/2011, 11:51 AM
Dude's still living in the past just like football jocks that played footaball in highschool.....get over it move the [frick] on.
HULK2099 - 7/29/2011, 11:55 AM
No one wants a deacon frost movie -_- dick!! Thank god for the blade reboot
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 7/29/2011, 1:20 PM
This guy is just mad cause he will never get the role if they even make one. Like they ever will. Deacon Frost? There are plenty of WAY cooler characters marvel has to do first: Dr. Strange, Luke Cage, Spider-Man(if they ever got the rights back), Blade, Antman and Wasp, Nick Fury, Daredevil(do they have the rights to him?), Fantastic Four(do they have the rights to them?), Namor, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Moon Kight, etc, etc, etc.... I think this guy has an ego. Not sure, but it seems like it.
dancingmonkey08 - 7/29/2011, 1:30 PM
You know what, NOBODY GIVES A FLYING [frick] WHAT YOU THINK DORFF, you are a goddamn hack who was a terrible Deacon Frost. And a Deacon Frost prequel is one of the worst ideas éver, nevermind a [frick]ING TRILOGY! The Avengers is a fantastic idea and it excites me more than anything. A Deacon Frost movie fills me with boredom

I normally hate reboots but Marvel needs to reboot the hell out of Blade and make it a completely different Blade to the fantastic Wesley Snipes and his trilogy. But I hope they dont do the Blade reboot for a long time. Concentrate on fresh characters first, then make a kick-ass new Blade movie when the Snipes Blade is gone from people's memories
JosePetrelli12 - 7/29/2011, 2:22 PM
^^^^^^Agreed
gaikinger - 7/29/2011, 2:49 PM
For me the first Blade was the best of them all. Fast, violent, sexy, and original.
TheIronHulk - 7/29/2011, 3:03 PM
Don't think this movie will be made.
