Should be addressed why Superman and Batman are being done to death.

As opposed to doing a Flash, another Green Lantern (maybe a Corps. story), a Titans, a JSA, a JLA pre Supes and Bats, ect.

Well, the Longbow Hunters wasn't a bad story. Maybe a bit too strong for animation.

You know he's right. Not DC bashing here, but aside from Superman, Batman and MAYBE Wonder woman, some of their properties are hard to do justice on film.

DC are scared of the public not responding to a well known hero. They are probably more scared now that Lantern bombed.

They should grow up and take a risk, Marvel took one hell of risk making Iron Man and look how that turned out?

If people were really as hopeful and dedicated as they say, then they wouldn't be drooling over pictures from the Man of Steel movie. What people say and do are two totally different things. Maybe the same scenario is the reason why Daredevil, Elektra, ect. failed for Marvel. We know them but just not stand alone good.

Aquaman is the lamest well-know superhero of all time. No one wants to see a movie about him. He is a punchline and it does not matter how much they try and revamp him into a badass with beards or pirate hooks for hands, he's still Aquaman the Lame.

Green Arrow is...well...just dopey-looking first of all. I seem to recall there was talk about a solo Green Arrow live action film a few years back in which he was stuck in a prison with all these super criminals and had to fight his way out. That sounded all right.

I suspect a tv live action show is cheaper to produce than a feature length animated movie hench marvel can take risks

I understand that they are trying to adapt some popular stories and graphic novels, but cant they just write some original stories for Aquaman and Green Arrow? I mean they did a great job with the animated series' as far as coming up with original tales to tell.

The biggest thing is that half of these titles are still unavailable to purchase in the UK!! And the ones that are available were released almost a full year after their US release! I have to track these down to watch "illegally". If all UK residents resort to the same viewing method then their sales will be hurt.

Just to clarify, I still purchase everyone of these I can, regardless of having previously streamed it over the net. So they still get my money. I only stream so I don't have to wait a goddam year to see the feature!! And even then I'm still not garanteed to be able to buy it.

Batman/Superman: Apocalypse = Unavailable
All-Star Superman = Unavailable

@Boosted Of course it is. I know it, you know it, but Timm tried to say it was b/c of a lack of source material when we all know that's not truly the case.
BRAVEDAVE
BRAVEDAVE - 12/18/2011, 3:20 PM
The real reason that Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman animated films haven't sold as much as Batman is because Batman has been built to sells.

Batman animated films are drawnig on the same fan base as those from Batman: TAS, which most of fell in love with 15 years ago as kids/young people.

If DC wants characters other than Batman to be successful it's got to get these characters out in front of kids. Make an impression on kids that lasts.

Something Like Rob Pratt's 'Superman Classic' would resonate with younger kids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2WVlmNqMMs

Bruce Timm is an incredibly talented guy but his personality has always rubbed the wrong way. If you listen to his commentary on the Batman and Superman animated shows, he's always talking over the other commentators.

In the specific case of Green Arrow and Aquaman, they could both absolutely have their own animated features.

Warner Bros animated features have already established a universe where Batman, Superman, the Justice League, exist. If sell it to the audience that you'll enter that universe and tell them the story of (in the case of Green Arrow) A modern day Robin Hood, in Star City; Or (for Aquaman) an underwater King Arthur / Lord of the Rings Type of Adventure. Then straight away, you lose the preconceptions / misconceptions and bring something fresh to the Warner Premier line.

Wasn't The (New) Teen Titans story 'The Judas Contract' a popular enough story to have the "name recognition" that Timm was talking about? It WAS planned to be the 2nd or 3rd DVD but it got pushed back. I think the younger characters might be a good gamble on WB's part due to the Young Justice animated series.
