The Movement from writer Gail Simone and artist Freddie Williams II and The Green Team from Art Baltazar, Franco and Ig Guara will be replacing I,Vampire and DC Universe Presents in May. There will be six new titles coming in June with one of those spots most likely belonging to Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's Man of Steel. The creative teams for The Green and The Movement are being purposely vague and abstract in the interview with Huffington Post so we have virtually zero details about the new comic books. However, interestingly enough, for a topic that seems tailor-made for a miniseries set outside of the The New 52, it appears both titles are firmly set within the DCU proper. Will be interesting to see who the leads are and whether the book will be told from the viewpoint of superheroes or civilian bystanders. More details as we have them.

I'd totally be about this at WB... enough screwing about.

This kind of move makes me want to drop my DC reading list all together. I've been reading all of the New 52 since it started. I appreciated being able to easily follow a whole Universe and watch it develop.

That doesn't work if they keep cancelling titles. Give these books a real chance to develop. Yes, some need to go: Firestorm, Savage Hawkman and Legion Lost all felt like dead weight to me, but good on DC for keeping them going long enough to give them a chance. Other new ones should've never been produced, like Ravagers and Sword of Sorcery.

But how are enjoyable books like Deathstroke, Grifter and Blue Beetle being cancelled? These have been genuinely enjoyable reads. More importantly, they are quality characters that help strengthen the comics, I don't need 15 bat-books and a rotating cast of new/ failed comic titles every month

The Occupy movement hasn't gained traction in a WHILE WHILE. Not sure why they'd develop a comic book based on it. The time for stuff like that feels like it has passed. The way they could've handled the issue could've been less... Obvious.

i like that they keep trying new things and this intrigues me, but like the guy above me said i dont expect these titles to last. good for them for trying new fun things, but fans have been crying out for cyborg, and a host of other titles too. plus they could probably throw cyborg into the young justice category to fill that out. i wouldnt ecpect the other new titles to be announces til next month simce i vampire and dcuniverse presents were cancelled a month early.

meh.. occupy movement was soo last year.
Jer3miah - 2/8/2013, 8:05 AM
The Movement is still present, but one cannot protest in person for months at a time. The first protest was just a prelude and an entrance; a message.

DC can't reference Occupy because DC, itself, is part of the 1%. Besides, the Comic Book Industry is under the Elite, which Occupy oppose, so it would be a paradox to include them into the CB world.

Marvel has the Illuminati as a group of occultists, and this is a real-life reference to the actual bloodline, so... yet again, another paradox. Or one could say... hypocrisy.

We have to buy the titles for them not to cancel them. Everyone knew how good I, Vampire was but no one bought it so they canceled it. It's not as though they did not give it a chance, it lasted 16 issues. As for the other books they tired to do all they could to keep from canceling them by changing creative teams and such( one creative change I will not forgive them for was putting Liefield on four books) to see if that would give them a boost. We live in a generation where we are so quick to blame major corporations instead of blaming ourselves, all we had to do was buy the books and recommend them to people.
In my opinion I feel that they could cut back on the number of books they release anyway 52 is way to many books to release. A lot of the characters should not have full series anyway they should be mini series. Deathstroke, Team 7, Voodoo are a couple I can name off the top of my head that should have been mini series especially since Slade is mostly a villian depending on what the contract requires. They do not have a lot of creative writers to keep up with the amount of books they are releasing. Batwing even though I love the book should have not been a full series but a mini about the origin of the character and who he was. After they did his mini they should have did minis on all the batman inc characters and after they were done with the minis of all those characters they could let those characters take over Batman inc when Morrison run is over and the book could be a book about those characters that are apart of that group. They could do that for the WildC.A.T.S. as well.

I know I am gonna get a lot of hate mail for this comment, But instead of cancelign Titles like Savage Hawkman, Deathstroke, Team & why not cut out a Few Bat and Superman titles and put the writers from those on the struggling titles and make them better. I understand batman is one of the most popular charters in all comics, (Que Marvelites) But do we really need so may different Bat stroies every month.. I was starting to like how Hawkman was progressing, was slow at first but getting better. Okay now roll all the hate mail and I am completly wrong comments. Thanks for Reading.
yingyangpalms - 2/8/2013, 8:14 AM
I hope DC is gentle with Gail Simone. Dont want to upset her. She'll go cry on Twitter.
DarkGrifter - 2/8/2013, 8:15 AM
Can't believe they cancelled Deathstroke.
DC is really starting to piss me off these days.
lucio7lopez - 2/8/2013, 8:16 AM
This is cool! A great idea for new heroes and some politics =)
dadarkknight - 2/8/2013, 8:24 AM
@Darkagnl there is only two big superstar names on The Bat Titles right now one Scott who even though I loved on American Vampire was not as huge as he was now when he started the bat books. The only super star right on both Supes and Bats books at the time was Grant. Now both have Grant for a couple issues and now Scott, other than that the other bat books those not have any super star writers. The Supes book even though I like them have not been up to par with the other great titles since the relaunch and he is their biggest character. Bats, WW, Aqua, Fl, and Gl have been awesome Supes just good that it. Dc just does not have enough super star writers to keep up with the amount of books they are releasing those writers are already doing like five books already. Lemire has become a super star but he is also doing about four or five books.
jaycr - 2/8/2013, 9:55 AM
This is brilliant, I would read them for sure. Comic books are more than big guys and sexy gals in spandex... I am glad DC is trying to bring important topics... too bad Marvel no longer has the balls to do that... instead they are trying to cash on the silly and stupid romantic novels that are poisoning girls' minds today.
marantaz - 2/8/2013, 10:17 AM
Wow those two new series sound sooooo dumb. Whoever thought up The Movement is just naive and ignorant. Let me tell you how it ends, every time throughout the history of man...those behind the movement become the GREEN TEAM. And the dirty little secret is ... That is always the goal...money and power, not the altruistic lies of the leaders.

I thought this DC rebirth was suppose to make them the greatest comic book company ever. Seems they didn't believe the hype either.
Greenlantern1417 - 2/8/2013, 10:24 AM
I really was hoping this article was about a bunch of people marching and occupying DC headquarters in New York to show they no longer want these crappy books.

Either way, The New 52 is so inconsistent. Nothing makes a lot of sense anymore. Making a Vibe book? Really? Well I give that six months. And don't expect Lee to do more than 6 issues of Man of Steel before he has a more important job of mucking up more characters. Not to mention, is this just the tie in to the movie? DC causes so many questions, it makes me so mad! It makes me just want to ....read Marvel.
Greenlantern1417 - 2/8/2013, 10:25 AM
Also...The Green Team? Why not just call it " The Bank of DC".
TheManFromMars - 2/8/2013, 10:37 AM
@Greenlantern1417

The Green Team was an old DC team from the 70's, they were basically rich bored kids who decided to spend all their money looking for adventure.

DaveT - 2/8/2013, 10:51 AM
I'm really interested in these books. They look a bit different and I like different. The new 52 has been pretty homogeneous and that becomes creatively restrictive.
Ambushbug - 2/8/2013, 10:51 AM
This is the lamest thing I have seen in a long time. Leave the real world out of my comics, it's where I come to escape.
Pharaoh - 2/8/2013, 11:14 AM
Marvels just as bad if not worse, there's like 15 Wolverine titles n they've just restatted Thor, Cap, Hulk, Xmen etc all over again it's like DC n Marvel have no clue how off putting it is as a consumer to consider buying a title when you know they're just gonna cancel it or reboot it or reimagine it with another comic with the same character 7 issues in

I've cut down my comic book buying recently and started to just look at getting the books a few months later if they make it that far or looking to just getting random stand alone graphic novels instead

Hawkman I never read but that character has so much potential for a great run but from the issues I flicked through it didn't look very good or anywhere close to it's potential. Batman needs thinnin out so does green lantern, we don't need 15 titles of each

SAT - 2/8/2013, 3:20 PM
I think I've read fan fics better than the stuff that's being written today.
SugarYumYum - 2/10/2013, 5:13 PM
The Green Team actually sounds interesting, tbh.

I'm kind of a sucker for spoiled rich bratty characters, if they have a stereotypical blonde daddy's girl among their ranks then I'm definitely in.
BANEofExistence - 2/15/2013, 6:04 AM
LAME! Bring on Secret Six and Cyborg!!!
BANEofExistence - 2/15/2013, 6:06 AM
They think this will sell better then Ravagers, I, Vampire and Deathstroke (Which just got amazing since Rob left).... DC I love u but ahhh...... Ill check them out, dont disssapoint!
