i think if we ever want to see a Marvel Civil War happen on the big screen then the only way to do it is the James Bond way.

Bond....James Bond Jr. na naaaa

Was just thinking about this last week, and thought it would be smarter to keep the universe going forward with new actors taking over as needed.

Agreed, ralfinader. They've already done this with two other actors and the world kept turning.

I went with James Bond, second would be Rhodey. Those two options are the only way to keep the Avengers timeline going.

James Bonding it is the way to go. That said, I don't want them to make Iron Man movies just to make them and keep things going unless they have good ideas for the stories.

I'm tired of reboots...we know the origin, stop retelling...that's why I am not excited for the new Spiderman movie, because it adds nothing new.

@BillyM67 Were Peter's parents the focus of the first film? Were Gwen Stacy, her father, and Lizard in it? I thought so.

I don't think anyone could bring the charm and charisma that RDJ brought to the role. I also don't think Marvel should continue with the same universe for 400 years. When the time is right, Marvel can easily reboot so people won't really compare as much.

If Rhodey took over i would kill myself! Bad Bad Bad

If and when RDJ retires, I won't be interested in Iron Man films anymore. I hate change.

Its very disrespectful for him to be saying this while Downey still has the role. Downeys not just some replaceable guy.
The only real similarity to Bond is that Downey JR as Stark, like Sean Connery as Bond, will never, ever be replaced!

They should James Bond it. This way the MCU retains the continuity it worked so hard to build up.

Stark's technology will allow him to be Iron Man long after others would've had to hang up their tights. I think RDJ should be Iron Man for as long as possible or as long as he wishes. If a sufficient amount of time has passed when he does decide to step down, then a reboot would probably be the best way to go. RDJ represents Tony Stark so well I don't believe a Bond-type replacement scenario is the way to go. Plus, I'm sick of seeing my favorite characters subjected to less than adequate replacements.

can do another origin story bond it!

I prefer the idea of another character donning the suit, be it Rhodey or someone completely invented for the MCU. It would give the films the feeling of being a living, breathing world that advances in real(ish) time.

My big problem with the idea of James Bond-ing any of the characters for the purpose of de-aging them is that it fuzzies up the veracity their earlier adventures.

I mean they managed to get someone who sounds like RDJ for Earth's mightiest heroes. Cant see why they cant find an actor who can do it as well.
