Maybe in a post credits scene but I'd like to see him in a sequel. I think the villain in the sequel in probably Michael Korvak.

Good catch on that. Not to familiar with Warlock is he more integral to GotG or the Infinity Gauntlet?

Yes Benji, he was a huge player in the whole Infinity Saga and more recently he was on the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy team. So he's definitely someone who I would expect to be a major player in the MCU going forward. I want to hope that he'll be the Nick Fury of the Marvel Cosmic.

Thanks Jacky, for a psycho ur a damn nice one!

I have no doubt Warlock will be in GotG.

Having said that, I really hope that they don't save the big showdown with Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet for Avengers 3.

They to do a stand alone Infinity Gauntlet movie that encompasses all of the MCU established at that point.

The Avengers should be seen as a small piece of the force that is involved in defeating Thanos and the Gauntlet. They should not be able to defeat him on their own. They should really just be fodder against the Gauntlet while the heavy cosmic hitters do the heavy lifting. Just like comic.

And in the end, it should be Thanos' own overconfidence that beats him...that and Nebula, which is why I think she's being introduced so early. So that when she turns out to be the deciding factor in the fight with Thanos and the Gauntlet, no one is like, "Hey, who is that chick?"

corndog- theres no reason they cant do that in a avengers film, im imagineing tony finding out about thanos from the guardians as the guardians lose a battle on a distant planet and thanos gets the 4th infinity gem (while the other 2 are on earth and asgard). so loads of cosmic heroes come to earth to protect them there are 2 simultaneously in space with thor, iron man, starlord and others in space and cap and the rest fighting on earth against a small army of chitauri that managed to land, then just as it looks like they have won thanos shows up with reinforcements and lands on earth to kill some heroes.

That is pretty well spotted, I didn't clock that when I saw it in the cinema. Could turn out to be just a eink to the fans, but Marvel has a way of leaving subtle clues in their movies as to what direction they will be taking in the future. Like the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's armoury (the first Thor movie).

I sure hope he shows up. The Guardians are lacking serious fire power without him. Plus he is needed for the Infinity Gauntlet. It would so lame if he just gets left out or shows up without much build up.

@ kinghulk

Yeah they could do that in an Avengers film, but then it kind of stops being an Avengers film. With all the ither characters involved, one of two things would happen. Either the Avengers would get pushed to the back burner and they wouldn't be the main focus of their own movie, OR they would get too much focus and all the other heavy cosmic hitters would get pushed back and not be the ones to save the day like they rightfully should in an Infinity Gauntlet story.

I would rather it be a stand alone IG film that focuses mostly on the cosmic characters and the much less powerful earthbound heroes are just there as distractions for Thanos, kind of like the actual IG comic.

@ kinghulk

If they make it so that the Avengers are the main force fighting Thanos and they are the ones that save the day, then get ready for a hugely watered down version of the Gauntlet, because the Avengers shouldn't be able to stand a chance against it.

I think they are going to do it just like a comics cross over. There will be events in avrngers, gotg and maybe dr strange or another movie and all tied into an infinity movie. For all intents and purpodes Thanos id already trying to accumulate the Infinity stones, THATS what the Avengers was about. Even more then saving Earth the Avengers unknowingly kept the Tesseract from Thanos. My biggest complaint with the story so far is that Thor never followed up with his "who controls the would be king?" question to Loki. He knew loki wasnt alone, told Fury and weve yet to hear any more about it. I was hoping that Thor would question him in the Dark World but it seems like they are just going to let that line go away.

I read a lot of speculation about potential villians and story arcs in a second or third GOTG film but I don't know if this is simply more speculation or if MS confirmed or stated any intent of making more. Maybe this is just misinterpreting the 3- phase planning Marvel has been doing for all their movies? That caccoon was definately a reference to Warlock though. Maybe the current plan is for Warlock to show up in the 3rd Avengers movie?

While I DO think Warlock should be brought in he will have to be either villainous or sinister in some extreme way first.

A hallmark of Warlock is how little others trust him, and how he puts his own perception of what is right above the petty needs of others.
As seen by him choosing to be god at the end of the Gauntlet.

Great article and interesting speculation.

I think Adam Warlock will be in GOTG but i think it'll only be reduced to a reference or a cameo hence in suspended animation. Setting up the character for GOTG 2.
