Will the REAL Thor Show Thyself....

Marvel has their "Thor" movie coming in May... and so does The Asylum.

If you were wondering what Richard Grieco (TV's "Booker") is up to these days, well wonder no more. It seems that The Asylum, notorious for producing titles that capitalize on productions by major studios, is releasing their own Thor movie called Almighty Thor. But the best part is that Richard Grieco will be playing Loki. (Yes, that is Loki on the right.)



From Wikipedia:

"When the demon god Loki (Richard Grieco) destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility, only the young hero Thor (Cody Deal) can protect Earth from Armageddon."

For those of you hoping to see this in the theaters as well, it is a direct-to-video release only. Almighty Thor is scheduled for May 10, 2011, which is 4 days after Marvel's own Thor movie arrives in theaters here in the U.S.

Also starring are Kevin Nash (yep, the wrestler) as Odin (with both his eyes in tact), Patricia Velásquez as Járnsaxa (??), and newcomer Cody Deal as Thor. And unfortunately, it looks as if there will be no helmets in this film.

I love how they do things like this in the hope that some poor grand parent will get mixed up and buy it for their grandchildren thinking that is the Hollywood Blockbuster sharing a similar name!

The Asylum. Ha ha. These are soooo bad. Loved Transmorphers 1 & 2! I had a friend who was an actor in these movies. Terrible.

As if I needed an argument to not watch this, the article mentions Kevin Nash as Odin... Oh yeah, really excited now. That first pic looks like the cover of an 80s pop rock/punk group entitled Black Tears of Berlin... which I made up... so don't waste your time looking for it on google.

I know Cody Deal, SUPER NICE GUY...SUPER NICE he used to train with me at my dojo in las vegas. I remember when he left he said he had a screen test for Thor. I assumed he meant the marvel movie and when they announced Chris i thought that sucked for Cody. Glad he is doing his thing and I will watch this movie.

@Amazo- you are correct! This is old news, been reported multiple times! Each time I see it...it turns me ill.

Still, it's not as bad as the Thor movie that SyFy put together a couple years back. It "starred" Zachery Ty Brian, the older son from Home Improvement. It was gawd aweful!

I disagree with the article. There will be TONS of helmets in this movie.

There is another Thor movie made last year that looks like it was made in someones backyard. It was so bad that it made me laugh. This one may be a little better.a little.

i personally can't wait for this one. loki as an older, cragglier, iago-type character is far more interesting to me than the young, jovial trickster marvel classifies him as.
