Michael Lewis, the founder and chief executive of RealD, which makes the 3D projection system used in most cinemas, as well as stereoscopic cameras, predicted Nolan will have a change of heart, like other big names.

“I’d love to get Batman, of course,” he told The Telegraph. “It’s going to be the biggest film of the year.”

“But I think it’s just a matter of time. There are very few major directors not working with it now.

Continuing in an ingeniously logical and unbiased fashion:

“Michael Bay said he’d never do 3D and then made the latest Transformers movie. Stephen Spielberg said he’s never work in 3D or even digital, but then did [in Tintin].”

"So I hope to get him [Nolan] at some point too.”

The article goes on..
He pointed out that, increasingly, the technology is making its way towards the
""artier""

end of the movie business, with directors such as Baz Lurhmann and Ang Lee due to make their 3D debuts this year.
... < words /> < etc />

“It’s not about spears coming out of the screen at you anymore,” said Mr Lewis.

“Filmmakers are really getting to grips with using this technology to draw you into the experience.”

“It’s like a leap from standard definition to high definition,” said Mr Lewis, who co-founded RealD in 2003.

“I was with Peter Jackson in New Zealand recently and the movie looked amazing.”
(at some point it terminates)

So Mr Nolan, are you finally cured of your notion that this technology is unnecissary? Just give up and make Ghostbusters III in 3D since we all know how much of an asset 3D has been to every movie that has used it

ya, nolan will make the switch to 3D. but only after 3D becomes more clear than digital. and after digital becomes more clear than regular film. but until then, we're safe.

If Nolan ever does a film in 3D, it'll be because the story calls for it. He won't do 3D just for the sake 3D.
GeneralZod1138 - 6/27/2012, 10:34 PM
The studio wanted him to shoot TDKR in 3D. He said "Um, no. But I'll shoot more in IMAX. "

THANK GOD!!!!

I mean, it doesn't sound THAT douchebagy...
DraculaX - 6/27/2012, 10:46 PM
3D is overrated.
kisama - 6/27/2012, 11:06 PM
i'm not a fan of 3d but that doesn't make him a douche bag.
bhorwith22 - 6/27/2012, 11:28 PM
3D need more time to mature, or at least they need to find ways to make 3D film cameras.
THEDARKNIGHT100 - 6/27/2012, 11:46 PM
[frick] YOU UGLY COCK 3D SHIT
batfan175 - 6/28/2012, 12:13 AM
I hope he NEVER folds on 3D, simply because film needs to be kept alive. In the UK there was only about 1/3rd of the Prometheus showings in 2D so that means that it's what businesses want, not what the audience wants because, ultimately, your wallet feels the difference in price and quality (2D does not have 30% colour loss for instance).

Well, Nolan's not doing the next Batman, so maybe he will get his hands on the Bat, but not the Nolan. No way. And what the Hell? He refers to Baz Lurhman and Ang Lee as "arty"? I mean the are artistic, as is Nolan and Speilberg, etc. But I wouldn't call them arty. They're still quite conventional. Unless he just means that they're not Michael Bay and they don't make big summer movies.
DukeAcureds - 6/28/2012, 1:58 AM
isleepno@ Did you just suggest that Nolan do Ghostbusters III? That would be an inspired choice. He is very Ivo Shandor.
CorndogBurglar - 6/28/2012, 3:21 AM
What is so "douchebaggy" about this? All he said is that he hopes to get Nolan to do 3D. Not once did he predict that Nolan WILL do it.
SaintCrow - 6/28/2012, 7:04 AM
3d sucks. in few, rare, occasions it might be a good idea. i hope that studies cut back on the "fad" on 3d. let hope that nolan sticks to his guns
Spidex3000 - 6/28/2012, 7:24 AM
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with 3D, I just find it wrong when the studios post convert, instead of film(like TASM), just to make more money. But when used properly, it adds a whole new meaning to Depth of field.
UrbanKnight - 6/28/2012, 4:20 PM
@mbembet HA! thats quite the potty mouth you got on you, you kiss your mother with that mouth! lol.

i agree maybe if it gets brighter/better for imax he will.
not digital and not for sometime though.
IgnurRant - 6/29/2012, 8:06 AM
If Nolan uses 3D he is gonna base the movie on the premise ala Inception
