EDITORIAL: My Further Opinions on The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Series and Why I Hate It
So some dudes were announced to write The Amazing Spider-Man 3 recently and I kind of really disliked the first film. So hence my thoughts and opinions on The Amazing Spider-Man.
So some dudes were announced to write The Amazing Spider-Man 3 recently and I kind of really disliked the first film. I am sure the second film will be a major box office failure but to go for the record I am exciting for TASM 3 because I know every third superhero film fails and it could finally be the end of the franchise as we know it. The Amazing Spider-Man has grounded reality and shoved it in our faces too far. The Lizard was too much of a villain centered in reality and now they are making Electro some dude with emotional issues towards Spider-Man which upsets me a lot. I think the main problem is Spider-Man is so weak in these movies. I never felt for once Peter Parker was a genius as he was made to be. His character just felt clumsy and over the top in a fluffy way that didn't make sense. The romance in the movie just too comment felt too corny at best and it was totally laughable. The film tried to be serious but took it self too seriously. Now we have TASM 2 which is just going to make everything worse. I can't believe they hired some of the worst writers on this project. Alex Kurtzman who wrote Transformers and Roberto Orci who also had a hand in destroying Transformers . There was something about Transformers and the way how wooden the characters were written which was clearly present in the first TASM film. All we were missing was Michael Bay to add some explosions and totally nonsensical action sequences.
Also what is the deal with Sony hiring some klutz named Marc Webb to direct this movie. Oh so you directing a cheesy romantic flick INSTANLY qualifies you to direct one of the greatest comic book characters in history Spider-Man. As I was talking about how Peter Parker was written so stale in the movie Andrew Garfield who portrayed him wasn't right for the role. I feel Sony just pulled another Tobey Maguire lets get any actor for the role type thing. Even I felt Tobey did a better job in conveying his emotions one thing to keep in mind was at least when Tobey Maguire cried as Spider-Man you really felt his tears coming on to you. There was no emotion in Andrew Garfield's performance at all maybe a few glares or glances but it just seemed so robotic. It was like an average here is a dude struggling type thing but you don't see his real struggles. Emma Stone as Mary Jane or wait I mean generic romantic interest Gwen Stacy was by far one of worst acting in the entire film. Don't get me started on the rest of the actors, TASM was simply a CW drama brought on the big screen at best. Now in TASM 2 they have new characters with the introduction of Harry Osborn who looks like some crazy homeless hipster, not trying to disrespect Dane DeHaan I loved him in the movie Metallica Through The Never.
A black Electro just because we need a level of diversity in our comic book films like there isn't any other role Jamie Fox could have played at all. Paul Giamatti one of the most shortest actors I have ever seen to play the tall and menacing Rhino who apparently wears Rhino themed boxers, very funny guys, not. Chris Cooper playing Norman Osborn I can't comment yet but I wish they brought Willem Dafoe back in the role. Then they updated the costume which I like oh yes I do like something for once within the TASM series and that is the new TASM 2 costume. At least they got that down right. Why so many villains now I wonder. Then they might introduce the Sinister Six like what the heck how is that ever going to work. It's a whole mess and Sony should just quit on the franchise while they are at it. The only reason why they are doing Spider-Man again is because they don't want Marvel to get the rights back and they want to make some quick money off it. I hate everything about TASM this movie and the rest of them that are going to come out belongs in a bottom of a Wal-Mart discount bin. It's cheesy, it's corny, it's cynical, and it's distasteful to Spider-Man. The only second thing I can think of worse than TASM is the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series good gosh that is awful what was Marvel thinking. If you want to appeal to an audience just don't appeal to a younger range make it appeal to everyone. I had enough of this madness I need a drink of tea to calm my senses now. The only thing we need next is The Expendables to avenge the awfulness of The Amazing Spider-Man and Chuck Norris to kick his ass! Thank you for reading whoever you wise people are.
