According to Examiner.com being able to blow up an arena in a key scene is possibly one of the reasons why The Dark Knight Rises is filming in Pittsburgh.

Examiner.com has published a story that focuses on one of the main reason why Christopher Nolan chose to use Pittsburgh as his primary filming location. An arena, named Civic Arena, is said to possibly being used for key scene in the movie that uses an explosion.

The ability to explode the Civic Arena and use the footage for a key scene in the movie may have been the key bargaining chip that brought The Dark Knight Rises to Pittsburgh.
