RESULTS: Halloween Costume Contest Runner Up

Yesterday I announced the three winners of the Halloween Costume Contest, and after some deliberation with my other judges there were still some really good costumes that we felt deserved as shot at a prize. So after seeking the council of the almighty Galactus, he allowed me to put together a poll that would allow the users of CBM to vote on who would get the runner up prize. The costumes were: Dr. Doom (user NasalHair), Cobra Commander (user haydendeacon), First Avenger Cap(user third3ye), and Scarecrow (user DoctorJamesWF). After a very close vote, the winner of our runner up prize chosen by you, the loyal readers of CBM, was third3ye as Captain America from his solo movie outing The First Avenger.



Thanks to everyone that voted! I had a blast doing the costume contest this year. I got to see a lot of great costumes, and have some fun while doing it. Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!!!

Congrats man! Really is a great costume! Sorry to nasalhair, im still more impressed by your costume this year than any others Ive seen, i can tell a lot of time and hard work went into it, keep it up! OR sell me the costume! Lol

Congratulations Third3ye! Truly great Cap costume.

I have to say though, IMO NasilHair got screwed here. His Dr. Doom costume should have won the whole contest, not just the runner up.

Regardless, congrats to all the finalists! They are all great costumes!

Congrats!!! Nice job!!

I agree with many of you, NasilHair got screwed. His costume of Dr. Doom was the most impressive to me and should have won the whole thing, but all the costumes were awesome. I loved the snakeeyes costume too.

UniBeam11: I intended on selling it eventually when i first started making it, but as I was designing it I realized, Armor is a custom fit thing.
I dont think it would look right on many other people besides me.

Well i guess unless you're 6'3 and weigh 290lbs lol.

I figure i'll attach it to a statue and keep it that way someday.

Thanks for the votes everyone! NasalHair has me beat from a work effort standpoint, I have the highest respect for home-made costumes. My suit was bought from UD Replicas (added distressed FX on it), then I added all the accessories from various prop builders. Some custom leather work involved but clearly nothing at the level of the DIY builds showcased here.

hell man, I'd hate to break up a set but how about just the mask and cape? lol those are probably the hardest to come by! You did a great job man, you're the winner in my book

I could make another mask,cape/hood combo to sell i guess. as kind of a head/bust type thing. (although in the actual costume the hood and cape are sewn to the tunic)

You wouldnt think so but the mask was the fastest piece I made (also the first) I was finished with it from beginning to end in 3 days lol.

Making the armor functional and fit like a glove is what took so long.

Make me one!!!! lol Doom is my favorite villain man, thats who i wanted to be but didnt have the resources to make it so i went as the punisher instead, turned out great though

third3ye and NasalHair should have won the main contest. They were by far the best costumes. The joker one was a cool idea and catwoman does look gorgeous but for best costume with great detail and vein home made the winners should have been third3ye and NasalHair. Props to you guys for your costumes .

NasalHair should have got it..home made verses Professionally made and bought wins every time in a costume contest ( atleast in my book )..

I don't even like Doom , but I had to vote for that costume, it's simply B.A. Like many others I'm of the belief he should have won 1 of the top 3 spots, let alone the runner up. Still not sure how Thor came in 3rd...... His costume was decent enough, but the Odinson is jacked where as ThomasRochester it would appear is not, therefore taking away from the whole "costume."

NasalHair had a great costume and it was hand made. I think that should be heavily factored in vs. a bought costume.

and I say that as someone who loves Avengers, Cap's suit was the only thing that didn't do it for me. Why couldn't they just keep the fatigue look from First Avenger!?! argh lol

@foxfan, agreed..the avengers one doesn't say Cap.America too me at all, but neither does the actor..I've always seen/read cap being portrayed as massive, tall, for movie sake maybe even scruff him up a bit...like a man , not a ken doll with perfect hair.

Hey guys, this is My Thor costume (with my good friend as Odin)

Hope you like it. While I didnt actually make the parts from scratch, I put the whole thing together myself. There was a lot of painting and cutting involved.
