Matt's mom has some 'splaining to do!!

loki668 - 7/20/2014, 4:11 AM
To be honest, I'll be a little disappointed if they re-imagine Murdock's father as an abusive goon. I always liked that he pushed Matt to use his mind before his fists.
Bl00dwerK - 7/20/2014, 4:45 AM
@loki668 The Marvel writers really need to stop changing stuff...
loki668 - 7/20/2014, 4:50 AM
Yeah, it takes some of the "poetry" away from the history DD had with his father.

Original Sin a.k.a. The Next Big Retcon. I hate when they do a retcon or a retcon of a retcon instead of something new and fresh. To me all it does is contradict what has already been established as the foundation of the characters we have come to know and appreciate. But this event just shows "everyone has skeletons in their closet bwahhhhahaha" and it's of course gonna be aomething dastardly. I can understand sometimes people can find out they've been lied to, find out they're really adopted, etc. But this storyline just seems so hokey and overdramatic but is really just more retcons.

Also, the Last Will and Testament Original Sin tie-in is out soon also. I mean what else nonsense can be revealed abt him now? Marvel has made it clear Prof Xas benevolent as he seems to be, in a actuality he's very ethically ambigious...or Will this event reveal that Prof X is in fact an even bigger turd than we thought and he is the real deadbeat Summers' father bwahahahha.

Come on gimme a break. I think Daredevil is a grounded character with a solid background that has really shaped his persona and makes sense to who he has become. Now his secretz are unveiled and I wonder what this retcon will do to him.

Does anyone else think that MARVEL keep doing shitty changes while DC slowely improves. I am more of a Marvel fan when it comes to monthly issues, but I appreciate graphic novels of DC. DC for some time showed bad writing and etc but in last few years they Upped their Game in major ways.

Abusive Father? What the Hell??? He raised his son and played a major part in Matt's life and his journey to becoming DareDevil and Lawyer.

Female Thor? I like the idea of women possessing power of Thor but writers claim that she is Thor now. No she is Not! Thor is a name of son of Odin. It is not a superhero name. It is a name. And how we should call original Thor now? An Unworthy Bum?

Dr.Oc as Spider-Man. Miles Morales. Stupid Shit. Crappy Writers. Stupid Shit. Andddd Stupid Crappy writing.

That's the way to go Marvel.
Bl00dwerK - 7/20/2014, 5:34 AM
@driver Speak with your money, man. Don't buy Marvel's BS changes...
driver - 7/20/2014, 5:37 AM
When Wolverine dies we will find out that he was the Father of Professor X and Uncle of Magneto.

What??? The quality of my ideas are matched with Marvel's writers.

Scott Summers will travel back in time and became the father of Deadpool. He will go into the public bathroom, play with his little Cyclops and then Deadpools mother will seat on the same spot where little cyclops was choked out. Boom. Cool story.
driver - 7/20/2014, 5:40 AM
@Bl00dwerK. Yeah, that's enough!

BTW, I think Unworthy Bum is a new comics about the adventures of a man once known as Thor Odinson. Marvel might buy my title because its better than their stupid shit, anyways.

Totally agree BL00dwerk!!

Re-imagining the basis for many of our favorite heroes isn't being creative.... it's being destructive. This is the main reason I backed away for comics for over 15 years. Writers need to be able to entertain and create stories that move forward. We want our Heroes to keep moving, to evolve, develop, not be stuck second guessing everything they've always known. If it was done infrequently, sparingly, it could be an interesting change to a character... but it's so commonplace, so redone, so 'thrown at us again', it can only be resented. It's laziness. It's B.S.

Enough already.

Original SIN sounded cool... but you could have had great impact in these stories without assaulting the foundation of the heroes. Matt's Father should have easily been a hands-off topic. You take that away you may as well say No More Daredevil. F-that.

have u all read this issue already? they arent gonna make his father abusive (lord i hope not anyway). If u are basing that idea from the pages above, heres what i take away from it. He looks angry, yes, DD's memory of his father change when he was a baby, so. Why wouldnt he be angry? Apparently his wife had their son and decided to ditch them both.
rabid - 7/20/2014, 8:12 AM
DD's father has been shown being abusive several times. He was a drunk whose wife left him to become a nun. He had a lot to be angry about. I doubt this issue is a retcon. They've never actually fleshed out his mom's story completely. The reader knows more than DD, so this might be the chance DD has to catch up with what we know.

Have guys been reading this Daredevil book? It has been an amazing run so far....stop complaining.

At the end of the day:
Thor will always be Thor Odinson
Wolverine will never die
CaptainAmerica will always be Steve Rogers

Just skip the crap you don't like but Marvel has a ton if great books outside of the events. Elektra, Hawkeye, Daredevil, Blackwidow, the new Star-Lord book was good, Silver Surfer.....

There will always be crappy gimmicks with DC and Marvel, but there are always great books to read. Original sin has been a great read and Infinity was one of my favorite events in years.

I think some people here have the overly sunny picture of Matt's dad as well. He was a good man to be sure. But he still beat people for the mob(under threat but still). He also drank a lot during this time and hit Matt. This is before he decided to quit and get back into fighting. End game he wasn't an angel, just like Matt isn't an angel. That said if they make his dad like an evil guy i think it'll be some sort of mind manipulation and not real
SimpleeComplex - 7/20/2014, 10:03 AM
Kudos to the commenters here! One good thing this thread did was put everyone's thinking caps on. Nice comments people
@bl00d, @cosmic, @driver, @xien and the rest of the gang.
FearTheLiving - 7/20/2014, 10:40 AM
When you guys are done patting yourself on the back you should probably actually read the book and see if the changes and stories are any good before knocking them off the face of the Earth.
ThePowerCosmic - 7/20/2014, 1:26 PM
^^^ This. Thank you!
ZigZagStuffa - 7/20/2014, 4:32 PM
Who cares if stories and origins change. You guys are all readers not writers. Get lives.. Or just enjoy this sh!t (jets) pick up the issues you want and ignore the ones you don't. Don't come on here with all this haterade.
WhiteSAMURAI22 - 7/20/2014, 4:40 PM
I doubt they're going to make his dad an abusive drunk. It just doesn't fit into the fun tone that Mark Waid has put into his Daredevil.
WhiteSAMURAI22 - 7/20/2014, 4:45 PM
I always like to think of Jack Murdock being somewhat of the equivalent to having Rocky Balboa as your father. Maybe with a voice you could understand, though.
