Corey Stoll Talks ANT-MAN; Praises Both Old And New Versions Of The Script

Corey Stoll will apparently play Darren Cross, the CEO of Cross Technological Enterprises in Ant-Man, and rumour has it that he'll suit up as a villainous version of Yellowjacket. Here, he talks about the script and his excitement to still star in the movie despite Edgar Wright's departure.

Collider recently caught up with The Strain's Corey Stoll, and the actor (who received a great deal of acclaim for his performance in the first season of House of Cards) revealed that it was original writer and director Edgar Wright who chose him to star in Ant-Man and that he "absolutely" still intends to star in the movie for Marvel Studios and Peyton Reed. As for how he feels to work with the Yes Man helmer, Stoll added: "I’m absolutely thrilled! Reading the script – and the script that Edgar wrote, and the script that there is now – it’s insane that this movie hasn’t been made before. Obviously, you need the technology because it needs to look great. But the whole idea of the changing of scale and the experiential effect of size changing is just so cool. You read these scenes on the page, and I just got giddy." Unfortunately, they couldn't get any information out of the actor about the character he will be playing in Ant-Man, but he did express his excitement about starring in a very different kind of comic book movie. "I think it’s gonna be so much fun. You can get a little fatigued with superheroes because everybody is just punching everybody, or shooting everybody with ray beams. This is a completely different kinetic experience in the theater. Shrinking and growing back, there’s just so much material there to root it in. I think it’s gonna be great!" What do you guys think? Sound off below!

he was so good in "Midnight in Paris"...it's awesome to hear his enthusiasm now! so very looking forward to this..I think Peyton Reed is quite possibly a Hail Mary of a great directing save for it.
Bekss - 7/21/2014, 2:33 PM
With all these Marvel news it seems like it's comic-con already.
PAF - 7/21/2014, 2:35 PM
I hope role isn't small. I love him as an actor.
Cles - 7/21/2014, 2:36 PM
Bekss, now try to imagine what it's going to be like when Comic-Con hits.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/21/2014, 2:36 PM
i think he is one of those actors, even if the role doesnt have much to it, he can really elevate it
ALmazing - 7/21/2014, 2:37 PM
Paul Rudd has been practicing how to shrink

This is a practical effect, don't judge.
DarthCMPunk - 7/21/2014, 2:41 PM
@PAF if the rumor is true, he's the villain of the film.

I watched the first episode of The Strain and his voice sounds oddly similar to Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon. So I can't wait to see him in Ant Man
WorstUserNameEver - 7/21/2014, 2:45 PM
Strange that this is the first Ant-Man news that has rekindled my enthusiasm (somewhat) for the film.
0megaDaGod - 7/21/2014, 2:46 PM
This guy is great in HOC
charlie2094 - 7/21/2014, 2:47 PM
Good to hear, he's been great in everything I've seen him in, was a great addition to the cast of Ant-Man, hope he's been given a decent sized role.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/21/2014, 2:50 PM
he is suppose to be there at comic con for The Strain..expect him on the ant man panel too
ckal - 7/21/2014, 2:51 PM
This man was incredible on House of Cards
CaptShipwreck - 7/21/2014, 2:52 PM
At this point, I'm really curious to see the finished product after all the attention it got
GliderMan - 7/21/2014, 2:54 PM
That's the guy from Non-Stop, right? That was a pretty cool movie.

Idk though, a villainous Yellowjacket? Are we even getting a Wasp? I think this movie will take a lot of creative liberties, but I think it'll be great.

PETER RUSSO!

If you don't watch it, House of Cards is great and he is fantastic. I'm 7 episodes in and he's managed to be sympathetic and weak and bold, strong and engaging. Very good actor.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 7/21/2014, 2:56 PM
The Strain is pretty good so far.
Reasonnnn - 7/21/2014, 2:57 PM

EzioKenway1225 - 7/21/2014, 2:57 PM
House of Cards is not really my cup of tea..im not a big politiics guy but that show is amazingly well made and he and Kevin Spacey give great performances on that show..the entire cast is great
TheRealRemyLebeau - 7/21/2014, 2:59 PM
Hank Pym as yellowjacket was pretty villainous himself. Doesn't really matter if someone else takes his suit or creates one called yellowjacket.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/21/2014, 2:59 PM
also if he is indeed playing a size changing villain and if they can capitalize on the potential of the size changing powers, the fight between him and paul rudds scott lang is gonna be amazing
MercWithAGun - 7/21/2014, 3:01 PM
I've been behind this project for so long I can't jump the gun now. It has so much potential and could possibly be another fantastic entry in the MCU. While I cannot wait for Avengers: AOU, Ant-Man is the film I'm anticipating the most but that's just me. Until either of those films come out though I'll just make do with GOTG! Got my tickets for opening day :D
Ramiel - 7/21/2014, 3:02 PM
He's in The Strain? He's the guy who wears a wig right?
PAF - 7/21/2014, 3:04 PM
@DarthCMPunk

Aw really? I hope they don't do him like Malekith. Ugh. He is very good. Especially in Midnight in Paris and House of Cards. Haven't watched the Strain yet but been meaning to just 'cause of him.
PAF - 7/21/2014, 3:05 PM
@Ramiel

Yes.
Crabnado - 7/21/2014, 3:05 PM
i was already sold. but Stoll really knows how to amp up the crowd. can't wait to see him as Cross!!
TexasTwoFace - 7/21/2014, 3:05 PM
It is weird for me to have both this much anticipation and fear from the same movie.
batmanvsuperman - 7/21/2014, 3:06 PM
Yes man yes man
Pedrito - 7/21/2014, 3:06 PM
Anyone watching The Strain?
I couldn't recognize him with hair on his head!

He was great in House of Cards and as Hemingway.
Ramiel - 7/21/2014, 3:08 PM
@PAF

Strain is a good show.
VenomInside - 7/21/2014, 3:08 PM
he has somewhat of a same sympathetic role in the strain.
DrunkenNukem - 7/21/2014, 3:10 PM
The Strain is going to be better than the Boring Dead
EzioKenway1225 - 7/21/2014, 3:10 PM
also i still feel Patrick Wilson is playing Young Hank Pym..the rumor was he was going to be the second villain of the film and Darren Cross cousin, William Cross aka Crossfire but here have been differing reports of whether Crossfire is in the film or not...plus i remember when Wilson was asked if he has a small or a big role in the film,, he replied by saying he has an important role
Laconic - 7/21/2014, 3:10 PM

I just got a text from Yoss. He said that whoever gets a hold of Wright's original screenplay and leaks it, will be allowed to do whatever they want with his body for five minutes! Aaaaanything. Damn!
