And we're not just talking about movie announcements! We mean overall, including things like television shows and comic books. As a result, it's a pretty simple question: In 2014, which of the rival companies came out on top in your eyes? As the headline says, decide here...

It's been a pretty historic year for both Marvel and DC. The former had four movies in theaters (only two of which they released directly, but still...), while both they and the Warner Bros. owned DC announced exicting slates of upcoming movies which take us into 2020 and beyond.

While they may not have released anything on the big screen this year, DC did make their presence felt on the small one with the likes of returning favourite Arrow and popular newcomers such as Gotham and The Flash. Marvel meanwhile greatly improved Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and continued to develop both Agent Carter and a number of Netflix shows which will reach us in 2015.

As for the comics, both Marvel and DC put out some significant stories, with The Death of Wolverine and recent return of The Joker in Batman being among some of the most significant.

So, back to that all-important question. Who between Marvel and DC would you say "won" 2014? Which of them most impressedyou with both their current output and their promises of what's on the way? Cast your vote below and be sure to share your thoughts on the usual place...

Sorry DC, but you are only in this competition due to 2 things -Arrow and The Flash. I had to go with Marvel overall -having 2 hit films and a vastly improved Agents of SHIELD. This was their year. The good thing for DC is 2015 is looking like a much better year. It'll be interesting once BvS: DOJ and Marvel's Daredevil and AKA Jessica Jones (Luke Cage) get into the picture.

I know it's flame bait, but I can't help but bite...

I'd say Marvel won this year in a land slide too. They put out on all fronts this year. Their films were spectacular (compared to an empty handed DC), Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. made a great second season jump, and from what I've heard the crossover events have been more enjoyable than years past. Plus the Sony hack would fall under Marvel, and that's been the most entertaining thing all year! I haven't been impressed with DC's crossovers this year, their television shows have been entertaining I suppose, and they may have made the best announcements of the year regarding their cinematic universe, but that holds no ground this year. I still love both one another, but one clearly had a better year than the other. Chalk one up to Marvel.

This is a rhetorical question, haha.
I'm not even going to vote.

However, improved casting choices and the Flash show kept WB/DC from totally failing 2014.
