Avengers: Age of Ultron is another hit for Marvel Studios, and while the reviews haven't been as overwhelmingly positive as The Avengers, the majority have definitely been good. The 2012 movie was obviously unique in the respect that it united a group of superheroes (most of whom already had their own franchises) for the first time. Things were obviously a little different for the sequel, especially as moviegors had seen the characters again since The Avengers, and that perhaps meant them assembling on the big screen perhaps wasn't as special as it had been three years earlier.

That aside, Avengers: Age of Ultron is still a great movie (at least I thought so anyway). Is the sequel as good as The Avengers? It's certainly very different, making them somewhat hard to compare, but this is the question we want you guys to answer. So, cast your vote in the poll below and then be sure to share your thoughts on how both movies match up in the comments section...

i voted for AOU, the only reason i would vote for the first over the 2nd is the novelty of the 1st.

Avengers is an A-
Avengers 2 is a B-. If Quicksilver comes back to life it will drop it to a C.

"AOU...better paced than the original"

Avengers: Age of Ultron did some things better than the original and had WAY better action, but ultimately I think I enjoyed the original more...

I'd give The Avengers a 9.7/10

Age of Ultron is a 9/10

Just my opinion though

In terms of enjoyability, AoU.

Better paced? Constant jump cuts does not make a movie "better paced"...

Why can Captain America: Civil War be called New Avengers: Civil War?

The Avengers might be the "better" film, just because it's more focused, more streamlined, it has that "novelty" factor (don't hurt me, Doom =P), and it never had a wasted moment at all. Everything was in service to its endgame, and that endgame was a massively satisfying pay-off of everything that had come before. It was also pretty self-contained, without ever trying to overreach itself to set things up in the future.

Age of Ultron was none of those things...but dammit, it's definitely a more entertaining, more action-packed, more visceral rollercoaster than the first one was. And for me, I think that puts it slightly over the first one.

I would add that Age of Ultron was more ambitious, too. That counts for A LOT in my book, even if it didn't quite manage to stick the landing.

Two parts of one story in my book. I loved both.

Novelty doesnt mean anything unless the movie itself is a good one.

AGE OF ULTRON was a better film IMO. The character interactions and development, story, and the stakes were higher in this one. I love both films but AOU took it up a notch.

I feel that The Avengers is the best comicbook movie of all time, but Age Of Ultron is just so god damn fun. It's character intimacy and contrary dynamics made this movie for me, not to mention some of the wicked action pieces. Bring on Phase 3.

Also, what @DrDoom said.

Age of ultron has the best action of any comic book film ever and is the most comic booky. So many scene were struggling from a panel. It was so fun. I could watch a whole Avengers film of them just having fun and talking. Having beers and join around. That party scene is great. Whedon knows these characters so well and can write social situatons brilliantly.

@AlexanderLykins That scene is cinematic achievement. I always wonder how much more gratifying it would be had we not seen it in trailers/tv spots.

I did love Cap's locker room speech when everyone was gearing up for the final fight. It was like something out of Rudy.

But since I am here, after age of disappointment I am voting for BvS.

But the two tracking shots we got in Age Of Ultron were much better in my opinion.
