"Captain America" Creator Joe Simon Passes Away Aged 98

The legendary comic book writer who created iconic Marvel superhero Captain America in 1941 has sadly passed away at the age of 98.

The Beat reports that Joe Simon, creator of Captain America, the Sandman, the Fly and many, many more has passed away at the age of 98. This site claim that this sad news was revealed by his son on Facebook. We'll bring you more details as soon as they become available. Our thoughts go out to Joe's family and please feel free to pay your respects to the creator below.

My gosh...so sad. Thank you, Mr. Simon, for creating Captain America, one of my favorite heroes of all time. That I will never forget. Rest in peace.

Man...the guy was so right on with that quote. Im glad he got to see a real decent interpretation of Cap on the Big Screen.

God rest his soul and best of wishes to his family.

Hell yeah Mr Simon you said it the world needs Captain America. Joe Simon created the ultimate starspangled character to represent the greatness of America. R.I.P Joe R.I.P . No matter how F-ING SHITTIE AND HORRIBLE the world gets CAPTAIN AMERICA will always be there.

No icon new heroes are created anymore. These old school guys defined the comic book world and pop culture with there creations. What an awsome creation captain America was. RIP sir. Thanks for Cap.

And they said the Captain America movie would bomb because the world didn't want to see it. Glad your creation proved them wrong Sir. RIP and thank you sir for everything you did. Most of us Americans have a Steve Rogers inside us wanting to be a good person and do good things.

I am not from the US but have to admit that Captain America is a symbol of liberty not only for a certein nation but for the entire world..
So loads of respect to Cap...

@NestHero and FatsMcLemlich - It’s a false dichotomy. You can worry about the money, try to make a character tailored to an audience, AND care about its quality of presentation. I bet Mr. Simon did all those things.
