nowtheresaBATman - 1/25/2012, 11:05 AM
GI Joe, Battleship, MIB 3, ranked higher than the Avengers?
holy Kree shit wow! Hulk smash box office.
Dragon316ca - 1/25/2012, 11:08 AM
Funny how "The Hobbit" and "Breaking Dawn Part 2" were not on the Most Anticipated films list. lol.
redleaf - 1/25/2012, 11:10 AM
It's not that surprising. People know GI Joe, Battleship, and MIB more than The Avengers.

Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-man would all rank higher than The Avengers.
Hando99 - 1/25/2012, 11:16 AM
I wouldn't read too much into these ratings either way i mean Gossip Girl, How I met your mother and Glee are in the top 10 tv shows and The Wire, Sopranos or Arrested Development aren't even on the list?
nowtheresaBATman - 1/25/2012, 11:16 AM
@Xenix "*"
DCfan89 - 1/25/2012, 11:16 AM
not surprised by TDK or TDKR but why isn't Man of Steel on the most anticipated list.. maybe because not a lot has been released. maybe no one really knows about it besides fans..
spiderneil - 1/25/2012, 11:17 AM
who uses imdb anyway?
nowtheresaBATman - 1/25/2012, 11:24 AM
When the 1st Avengers trailer came out everyone at the bar was like "look another Iron Man movie" lol
Spidey91 - 1/25/2012, 11:24 AM
hey Nolanites, keep it down,I can hear your faps from here :P
DoctorSnide - 1/25/2012, 11:25 AM
A lot of Bull in these lists.
Ranger14 - 1/25/2012, 11:25 AM
MTV did a poll of with over 1 million young adults (18-25 is typically what is considered a young adult) and TDKR and Avengers only made up a tiny percentage of the poll for most anticipated film of 2012. Hunger Games won out. Point is... there are numerous polls and opinions out there as to what the most anticipated film is and many differ depending on the demographic involved with the poll. Same goes with the other categories. That is IMDb's results. It's one piece to a much larger picture.
Minghagz - 1/25/2012, 11:27 AM
wow, I can't believe Donnie Darko is on there... good movie but I would have never expected that one.
Prison break should be on the top 10. I love that series... well season 3 was meh but that's about it.
Battleship looks [frick]ing stupid. It looks like it's trying to copy Bay's Transformers and just using Battleship as the name to market it.

P.S. Godfather FTW!
redleaf - 1/25/2012, 11:30 AM
Marvel movies don't really have much replay value because the stories are so basic. I saw Iron Man twice and I could still remember everything about it. Batman Begins and TDK have a deeper film experience with more engagement.
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 11:30 AM
Veeeryy good.

How the hell are Battleship and The Dictator more anticipated than The Avengers?
SageMode - 1/25/2012, 11:32 AM

IMDB the ever reliable source (sarcasm ends)
BmanHall - 1/25/2012, 11:32 AM
IMDB is rubbish. There is no way The Hobbit is not in the Top 10 Most Anticipated In-Production Movies.
WolvieCBM - 1/25/2012, 11:34 AM
So it's not BATTLEFIELD EARTH? Huh.
DylansMyDog - 1/25/2012, 11:35 AM
I doubt these will correspond much with box office or really even show how anticipated a movie is.

When I heard they were making a Bettleship movie I definitely said "wow, I can't believe they are actually doing that." I then Imdbed it to see what actors had sold out for the paycheck. I will not be seeing it in the theatre though.
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 11:35 AM
@Intruder The Godfather, Fellowship Of The Ring/Return Of the King and Pulp Fiction are also on the list. Your 'argument' is invalid.
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 11:37 AM
Haha...a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie. Don't give the studio ideas. ;)
aRandomSinisterClone - 1/25/2012, 11:40 AM
Avengers is at 7, that sounds right, cue the marvel fag cry babies
mcskunky - 1/25/2012, 11:40 AM
IMDB! Seriously!?! Who gives a funk!!

Cant believe all the DC fanboys are creaming their panties cause TDKR is top of list. Who care? I know which films I wanna watch and could give a piss if some chump is on IMDB searching MIB 3. MIB3!?! I mean Expendables 2 in o it. If you guys look into this list, then you all must be fu*ked in the head!
Minghagz - 1/25/2012, 11:43 AM
*Highest average IMDbPro MOVIEmeter ranking over the last 10 years.

^^
It doesn't matter when the movie was released because the poll is based off of a ranking meter that has been recorded in the last 10 years.
HellsHammer - 1/25/2012, 11:43 AM
haha look at all the cry babies
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 11:43 AM
Something making TDK look like Batman & Robin...funniest thing I've heard all week.

But yeah, I found the list's credibility gone when I saw Twilight there.
Minghagz - 1/25/2012, 11:46 AM
To me... for a movie that was released in 1972 and still having people rank it into the top 10 in the last 10 years is impressive. Just goes to show how well that movie stands up.
Ranger14 - 1/25/2012, 11:46 AM
According to Film101 rankings, LOTR is #1 over the past 10 years and TDKR is #51. The highest ranked Harry Potter film is the Deathly Hollows Part 2 at #164

Like I said, it all depends on who is voting and the source.
SageMode - 1/25/2012, 11:48 AM

"I guarantee The Avengers is gonna flop.

Why is the main villan Loki, didn't Thor already beat that dude. Now they need an entire team to take that fool down and his little army.

Come on get serious, can't believe that Marvel have been producing film after film that are bascically filler for this turd of a film.

1. THE AVENGERS are gonna own.

2. Well for starters, In the comics, Loki was the very first supervillain that the first incarnation of the Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Giant Man, and Wasp) fought against, so in that aspect theyre staying truthful to the comics.
Little army? Much more threatening than little tiny winy 5'8" Bane. Lol.

3. With Joss Whedon, who directed Serenity aka one of the best and critically acclaimed movies ever, on board, it's gonna do great. A lot more entertaining than TDKR aka BRINGING CHAOS TO GOTHAM part 3.

redleaf:

If you really think about it, BB and TDKR film experience is no more complex than the others IMO. BB = Bruce Wayne becomes Batman from parents death, and fights Scarecrow, the mob, and Ra's Al Ghul from bringing chaos to Gotham. TDK = Batman fights the mob and Joker who brings chaos to Gotham, Dent becomes corrupted from Jokers influence and Dawes' death.
Nothing too deep or complex about that.

LoudNoises - 1/25/2012, 11:48 AM
@Ranger14

It's not like they took a survey and asked people what the best films of the last 10 years were or what the most anticipated films are. This poll is based on number of views. You can say that there are pieces of info missing from this survey, such as demographic but imdb is arguably the most popular movie based website on the internet. I'd say this is about as accurate as you can get. You can't argue with statistics.
redleaf - 1/25/2012, 11:51 AM
Considering that IMDB probably has one of the largest data pools, their polls are better than most.
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 11:53 AM
@Intruder In that respect, yes it does. But whether or not it's actually a better movie is debatable.
patriautism - 1/25/2012, 11:53 AM
IT deserves it. I didn't realize how much everyone loved Donnie Darko.. Freaking fantastic movie.. The Manipulated Dead FTW
Ranger14 - 1/25/2012, 11:56 AM
LoudNoises@ Exactly...you said it. Just because a movie page is viewed more doesn't mean it is one of the best films of the last 10 decade. It just means more people viewed the page. They change "most viewed" to being "the top 10 films", which I think is very misleading. Had they left it as top 10 viewed film pages on our website, then I would take it for what it is.

Unless a poll is controlled there is no accuracy...and yes, you can argue with statistics. IMDb and MTV both have statistics as to the most anticipated film in 2012 and they differ greatly.

SageMode - 1/25/2012, 11:58 AM
the Godfather is arguably the most critically acclaimed movie OF ALL TIME, in which they're either number one or number two in ranking. Won several awards. The fact that it's even put on the list some of those other movies is a disgrace. SMH..........
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 11:59 AM
For the record, IMDb has about as much reliability in their polls as MTV. Maybe a little more, but not much.
LoudNoises - 1/25/2012, 11:59 AM
@Intruder

I can agree that imdb isn't always reliable, but this pole is just based on views to various movies on their website. You can't say this is bullshit. It's just numbers. But I definitely don't think it says anything about which film is or will be the best. It does suggest which films will do well in the box office tho.
redleaf - 1/25/2012, 12:02 PM
"If you really think about it, BB and TDKR film experience is no more complex than the others IMO. BB = Bruce Wayne becomes Batman from parents death, and fights Scarecrow, the mob, and Ra's Al Ghul from bringing chaos to Gotham. Wrong, that summary isn't accurate and it's not really what the movie is about. It's an oversimplification. You could make a half-ass summary of any movie, but that doesn't reflect how the movie actually is. Marvel movies are simple to begin with.
PaulRom - 1/25/2012, 12:05 PM
Y'know what would be funny...if Iron Man or Spider-Man 2 made it to the top of that list, the Marvel fanboys will be all over it saying that IMDb is credible. Truth is, there has yet to be a Marvel film that's as fantastic as TDK (though that'll change on May 4), and many are just jealous so they'll bash anything DC related. That's definitely a SMH moment.

Granted, Nolanites can get out of hand too. But just because Nolan makes a good movie, doesn't mean that anyone who likes it thinks Nolan is God/craps out gold/is infallible.
Ranger14 - 1/25/2012, 12:06 PM
Actually, the poll is not based on views. It is based on searches. from IMDb's Pro MOVIEmeter page:

"MOVIEmeter rankings provide a snapshot of what movies are hot based on the searches of millions of IMDb users"

So, when there are debates and discussions on here about castings, info, etc. and people search the movie database at IMDb to research, that contributes to the "viewed" ranking. That hardly indicates the popularity and how good a film is.
patriautism - 1/25/2012, 12:06 PM
@Intruder, imdb can't be trusted on news, since you need a cell phone or a credit card to sign up for imdb, you can't sign up more than once. Therefore there voting system is not as easily manipulated as a lot of other sites, so it is more accurate. One thing I will say negative about imdb though is that a lot of "wanna be" movie critics use it, and most of them are bias sheep. So in a way, yes the votes can't be taken seriously.
ThaMessenger07 - 1/25/2012, 12:07 PM
I like the Part with Twilight higher up then the Godfather....

redleaf - 1/25/2012, 12:08 PM
Intruder is a deluded troll that throws tantrums. He got banned and repeatedly scolded by admins. Somehow he thinks his dumb opinions are credible lol just let him rage and feel like he's "winning"
JediRob - 1/25/2012, 12:10 PM
I take big issue with this article. It states this list if for the "most viewed" when the article quoted specifically says it is based on rating.

"*Highest average IMDbPro MOVIEmeter ranking over the last 10 years. "

Where did you come up with "viewed."
LoudNoises - 1/25/2012, 12:11 PM
@Ranger14

Even if that's true, that just suggests that people are talking about them more and debating them more. It definitely still says something about their popularity. Your right however that it says nothing about how good a film is. That's opinion based. Numbers are objective tho, which is why I say you can't argue with statistics.
HarveyDent88 - 1/25/2012, 12:12 PM
@intruder grow up man, your comments are pathetic.

Would of thought the Hobbit would be in the last list.
Ranger14 - 1/25/2012, 12:13 PM
JediRob@ See my last post. It explains what "views" actually means. It has nothing to do with polls, rankings or ratings. It has to do with searches for a particular title. Misleading to say the least being who knows what the motive is for searching the title.
LoudNoises - 1/25/2012, 12:18 PM
Why do these debates always get so personal? lol. It always results in someone saying something along the lines of "get a life" or "get a girlfriend". We are all using this website, that puts us all in the same boat my friends.
brewtownpsych - 1/25/2012, 12:19 PM
Really sheeple. Why so obsessed with polls and box office draws and such. We all know the average person has no taste yet we continue to compare our own taste against what the wider society likes. Enough! Guess what, 9 times out of 10 when something is insanely popular it's to be avoided.

Oh, and THE FIRE RISES!
