As you will have more than likely heard by now, Marvel's The Avengers passed $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office today, while The Dark Knight Rises has finally hit $1 billion. However, it was the latter that battled it out in China this week with The Amazing Spider-Man, but the 3D reboot ended up coming out on top with $33.3 million to The Dark Knight Rises' $28.5 million. However, this extra boost (as well as the fact that it opened in a few other international locations including Italy) has meant that Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie is back at #1 at the international box office with an impressive $574 million. The Amazing Spider-Man is #2 with $475.3 million, followed by The Expendables 2, Total Recall, Brave and The Bourne Legacy. Back in North America, the following films have been confirmed as being the Top Five of the Summer.

Now i see why everyone is so concerned that China may take over as the worlds only superpower!
GoILL - 9/2/2012, 2:06 PM
@starscream9289 i'm with you on that, it's too bad some people on here have to act like children or whiny bitches though.

The Dark Knight Rises was the far better movie between the two, IMO! But, the Chinese love their 3D so I won't argue.
AutobotCommander84 - 9/2/2012, 2:08 PM
That's great, but of course, it's not going to make 1 billion like Avengers and TDKR did, which is sad because I think that the only reason some of the general audience wasn't interested is because they're close-minded fools who don't understand shit.

Avengers: 1.5 billion worldwide, and going strong

The Amazing Spider-Man: Almost 734 million worldwide

Dark Knight Rises: 1 billion worldwide

Every Harry Potter movie: 2 billion

Phase 1 of Marvel made more than the entire Harry Potter series.
RobLiefeldFan - 9/2/2012, 2:15 PM
@AutobotCommander84 and I'm sure you're among the fools who Understand the shit they don't understand definitely spidey would win because he's a recognizable and well loved character same goes for Batman but sorry I can't walk on the streets and see a Batman poster and stare at it for a Minute but for spidey o can and he's stories have heart and dats what captures the audience not violent over-the top darkness
ATrueHero1987 - 9/2/2012, 2:18 PM
I see someone else that needs to go away from this site.smdh

I preferred the amazing spider-man to all of Nolan's films IMO and I don't give a [frick] of anyone's opinion you may like both the ASM and TDKR but I just prefer ASM... AGAIN MY OPINION!!!!..
Knightrider - 9/2/2012, 2:19 PM
Should also be taken into consideration the censorship and such over in China. For instances the other parts of the Dark Knight trilogy were not released or were in small numbers - So actually surprised this one got a release and made anything considering fans may not know what is going on as haven't seen last 2.

What scares me more is people in China may not know BB and TDK exist so they think this is a sequel to Batman and Robin Bane's Revenge
Maxi91291 - 9/2/2012, 2:22 PM
MAN you gotta love this themes :D

iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 2:24 PM

PopcornMode - 9/2/2012, 2:44 PM
I pity China. They are always last to see these great movies. At least they are enjoying it now. Now, friends from China, go see them both at least twice, okay?

@AutobotCommander84

its not because some people are close minded fools who did not understand shit, it was because spiderman was up against 2 of the most long awaited cbm's of all time and did not stand a chance against them.
Maxi91291 - 9/2/2012, 2:50 PM
So who won the hottest gf contest ? Tony? Bruce? Peter or Clint?
iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 2:51 PM
@cipher

The fact that I don't like TDKR as much as the first Nolan's Batman films don't make me not respect those who do. If only all parties were as civil as you are about these films, we'd have a healthier CBM fandom. Thanks, mate!
Maxi91291 - 9/2/2012, 2:53 PM
@Cipher

Soo true
iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 2:55 PM
@Maxi91291

Gwen, Emma can play both Gwen and MJ for all I care, Andrew Garfield is living the [frick]ing ultimate geek/nerd dream. But Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle and Scarlet Johansson's Black Widow are all [frick]ing awesome.

@comiccow6
Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 1 (6 films)= 3.7 Billion
Harry Potter Series (8 films)= 7.7 Billion
Batman Series (7 films)= 3.6 Billion
CaptainAmerica31 - 9/2/2012, 2:58 PM
I liked all 3 CBMs it pisses me off when biased people comment on TDKR and TASM forums. We get it you're close minded geez
Maxi91291 - 9/2/2012, 2:59 PM
I hear ya, you know what ? Parker is just like Ted Mosby .. complaining about love-life and sh!t but dates some of the hottest girls ever
GoILL - 9/2/2012, 2:59 PM
I'm happy that this comment section isn't as [frick]ed up as Avengers and Dark Knight Rises ones, all three were good movies IMO.
PopcornMode - 9/2/2012, 3:00 PM
Emma's so hot! I hope we get to see more of her in the sequel. Oh, wait...
Bodwulf - 9/2/2012, 3:00 PM
@maxi91291 Thor won that contest baby! :)
Thor Loves Jane, Since 1962 The Thunder God and his Lady fair.
marvel72 - 9/2/2012, 3:05 PM
the dark knight rises was the better film but spidey is more loved in china.
iJackSparrow - 9/2/2012, 3:06 PM
Ted Mosby is like Peter Parker and they are all inspired on me. Hahahahaha

And Andrew Garfield is the geek's king. Bastard.

Kidding, Mr.Spider-Man, but DAMN,
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/2/2012, 3:06 PM

HAHA .. nice giannis :)

Bodwulf .. cant belive I forgot Thor

There is also my fantasy :D
JDUKE25 - 9/2/2012, 3:07 PM
@comiccow6 I like your enthusiasm, but your numbers are wrong. The entire Harry Potter franchise worldwide(since that's what you were going by with the other movies), made $7.7 billion. With Phase 1 making close to $3.8 billion.

If you mean domestically, still, Harry Potter: $2.9 billion, Phase 1: $1.7 billion.

Not sure where you're getting your numbers.
HeadPool420 - 9/2/2012, 3:09 PM
All I have to say is "CBM's are here to stay!":)
