WTF is this shit? Marvel Zombies v. 2.0? MORE heroes vs. heroes? Jesus its about time to let up on beating that dead horse, Marvel.

On the bright side its good to see Doom being Doom and Hawkeye have the chance to take center stage. Doom is the shit!

Trank doin FF, Mangold doin Wolverine and Vaughn doin 1st class all point to Fox sorting their shit out its just a shame Singers (never liked any of his xmen movies bland bland bland and the less said about his superman movie the better) been brought back in to do the 1st class sequel but I have a feeling Fox are gonna be the true victors outta them and disney/marvel in the long run, we might actually get some well made, cool films outta fox whereas marvels efforts have been somewhat lackluster in my opinion, their choice of directors has always seemed incredibly uninspired to me -

Whedon, favro,Branagh, The rocketeer fella all stink of directors chosen to fulfill the disney/marvel middle of the road money mens visions and not their own idiosyncratic visions which is how films should always be created, dont get me wrong marvels films arent awful, they just aint all that great either.

Give me a director with an idiosyncratic vision over generic cine-verse friendly directors all day long.

Vaughn (kick ass, 1st class), Snyder(300,watchmen superman), Nolan (Batman Trilogy), Webb (Amazing Spiderman), Del Toro (hellboy), Trank(chronicle,FF), Mangold(wolverine), Rodriguez(sin city), Mc teigue (V for Vendetta), Burton (Keaton batman, Gunn (super) all (except Mangold who im sure will) have made great superhero/comic book adapted/inspired films with a real weight and coolness behind them which didnt pander to a studio/moneymen perceived generic audience and werent restricted by the limitations of a 'cine-verse' (which has been Disney/Marvels downfall in my opinion).

However their is hope for Marvel with both Shane Black (iron man 3) and Gunn (gotg)being hired. Its just The Russo bros(capt A winter soldier) and Alan Taylor (thor 2) who worry me slightly.

Comic book and superhero/power movies lend themselves brilliantly to Auteuristic directors with an idiosyncratic visual/atmospheric vision and a darker (not necessarily gritty, Nolanesque) style, this is where I believe Marvel have been going wrong, an unpopular opinion sure but one that at the least merits consideration. Marvel be it due to the restrictions of a 'cine-verse' ( a mouth watering proposition to any comic book fan but one not so mouth watering to a good cinema fan who credits a films quality usually to an unrestricted director who is allowed to fulfill his/her own vision and not that of the studios moneymen) or be it due to Disney aiming at too younger an audience/market havent quite made the masterpiece such a great cast of characters deserve. yup

@JacksonVega

The truth doesn't get posted on here often. More 'facts'. Proper write up.
wearethewalkingdead9 - 12/8/2012, 7:50 AM
wow the art sucks in this
Thegeekygurl - 12/8/2012, 8:48 AM
@wearethewalkingdead9 The art is very bad. With their sales falling and comic shops going under all over the US I think they just try to do the cheapest, fastest art they can and throw it out there hoping to make a quick buck.
They make so little money now they cant pay that great. So the best artists are in video games and other stuff.
DioFoRio - 12/8/2012, 9:26 AM
that's the silliest shit I've ever heard 1geekygurl. i have quite a few friends in the industry and that can't be further from the truth. But the real BIG money is in story boarding.
DioFoRio - 12/8/2012, 9:59 AM
but yes ...the art is pretty bad.

Intruder- Id have to disagree there 'trudy altho 1st class wasnt amazing, I think Vaughn did pretty well with what he'd been given and you only have to watch 'Kick ass'(not just a great CBM, but a great FILM) to realize what Vaughn is capable of. 'wasnt even a real film' - nonsense, Chronicle was excellent, couldve easily been a crock of shit but it wasnt it was again not only a good superhero/power movie but an actually good piece of cinema (something Marvel has yet to accomplish). As for 'Mangold or Atonofsky' I was under the impression Aronofsky opted out, sure Idve preferred Aronofsky but I think Mangold is up to the task. We're really gonna have to agree to disagree because if you really think Marvel 'is the shining light in this very abysmal darkness' then you and I have very different taste and the reason 'everybodys' trying to copy feige n co is because like nolan they made a ton of fu.cking money. I cant begin to comprehend ur taste, i really cant.
JacksonVegaIII - 12/8/2012, 11:17 AM
UniBeam11 I really hope your right, I'd be over the moon if phase two turns out to be as good as you thinks its gonna be and I hope its gonna be. I think reading something you disagree with and describing it as pretentious because its got a coupla words with more than 4 syllables in it and tries (perhaps it doesnt succeed) but tries to delve a bit deeper into why something is good and something else isnt is a bit of a cop out, but u gotta admit idiosyncratic is a good un, I like Auteuristic too.. Fair enough you disagree with my opinion but it has merit, just as your opinion does.

The cine-verse is very experimental, i just wish they'd been a bit more experimental with the way they made the actual films too, abit of leftfield stuff wouldnt have done any harm.

Intruder- Dang n I thought citing 300 as something to aim for cinematically instantly guarded me against being labelled pretentious and snobby. I guess not

JacksonVegaIII - 12/8/2012, 11:38 AM
'trudy - I never described any of them as hacks, it was u who described Vaughn as a hack, which is equally as hilarious when you consider he made 'kick-ass'a far better film than anything marvel have done imo. I think these directors wer chosen because their visions wer sumwhat bland or they wer wiling to change their visions with the constraints of a shared cine-verse and so each film could seep into the other due to ther lack of originality and shared generic-ness

And if you'd bothered to read it a bit better you'dve noticed i mentioned black n gunn (and if id remembered him edgar wright) as my beacons of hope for phase 2 the russo's n taylor im not so sure about.

the fact it grossed all that money really has no relevance when your talking about the quality of something, just look at the pop charts or weekly box office for proof of that.
JacksonVegaIII - 12/8/2012, 11:46 AM
Finally something i agree with. Out of interest what did u think of Dredd ?
toco89 - 12/8/2012, 11:52 AM
@unibeam

Opinions have no merit, cuz they're opinions. Thor is a good example of his points though. It was oversimplified and dull despite being directed by Branagh.

Branagh is classic and structured, while at the same time maintaining his own flair. But all the interviews I saw of him you could tell Feige and the studio didn't let him make it great with all the constraints to keep what they thought would make the movie great even though they are not filmmakers. He was hired to fill the position in a movie production that was gonna make money anyway, so why not let him bring his renowned touch of class.

@intruder

So many cusswords.

Of all the things Snyder brings to his movies all you noted was the slow-mo?

@jacksonvega

Idiosyncratic, one too many times. Good use of it though, now just make use of the word synonym and you'll be good LoL.

JacksonVegaIII - 12/8/2012, 12:00 PM
Intruder- there we go then man, an olive branch, Dredd was brilliant
JacksonVegaIII - 12/8/2012, 12:12 PM
Intruder- reminds me of a joke

Superman was feeling bored after a long streak of crime fighting and wanted to go out and party, so he called Batman to ask if he wanted to go to a club and pick up some girls.

Batman said Robin was ill and he had to look after him.

A little disappointed, Superman called Spiderman to see if he fancied a few beers. Spiderman told him he had a date with Cat Woman.

As a last resort, Superman flew over to Wonder Woman's apartment to see if she was free. As he landed on her balcony, he saw Wonder Woman naked on the bed with her legs wide open.

Superman thought to himself: "I'm faster than a speeding bullet, I could be in there, have sex, and be out again before she knew what was happening."

So Superman did his super thing in a split second and flew off happily.

Meanwhile on the bed, Wonder Woman said: "Did you hear something?"

"No!" said the Invisible Man, "But my ass sure hurts like hell!" .

Snyders real talent is his eye, visually he's superb, I agree completely his films are a bit rapy and terribly paced, but the guy visually is amazing. Snyders Captain America costume would be something to behold
toco89 - 12/8/2012, 12:17 PM
@intruder

Positive aintcha?
Mrcool210 - 12/8/2012, 8:16 PM
