So Steve Rogers looks like the Sentry now? Lame.
jimpinto24 - 12/15/2012, 7:09 PM
I wish Steve Rogers had short hair instead of that ridiculous long hair.
DioFoRio - 12/15/2012, 7:10 PM
how dare his hair and beard get long. Style biter. I thought for sure he was on Bales nuts from TDKR
RSDhillon - 12/15/2012, 7:11 PM
I hate JRJR's art most of the time, but this doesn't looks so bad.
The aliens' armor, though, look stupid. Just a bunch of rectangles.
Also, is the cover supposed to be like the first Cap comic ever, where he punches Hitler in the face on the cover? 'Cause if so, that's cool!
DioFoRio - 12/15/2012, 7:11 PM
dude.....how bout the fact the dude is on a far away planet/parallel universe...sure a shave and a haircut are the least of his worries.
DioFoRio - 12/15/2012, 7:12 PM
looks like Mayan statues
Minato - 12/15/2012, 7:12 PM
How dare we question JRJR brilliance
KarlRobinofEarth2 - 12/15/2012, 7:14 PM
Hes stranded in another dimension, he hasn't gotten to the barber yet Ron, sorry. Book is off to a badass start, can't wait to get #2 on Wednesday.
Nick56 - 12/15/2012, 7:25 PM
another day, another piece of crappy JRJR artwork
DioFoRio - 12/15/2012, 7:28 PM
@Hush...you said it
Hellsboy - 12/15/2012, 7:34 PM
this is shit, who let this artist work on anything?
HeadPool420 - 12/15/2012, 8:13 PM
JRJR is one of the few artist that have been around for a long time and can draw exactly the same as when he started.
drwalle - 12/15/2012, 8:35 PM
Is this a coloring book? The art looks like it.
MutantEquality - 12/15/2012, 8:46 PM
Over and over and over I have to keep reminding myself, This is Captain America not Thor this is Captain America NOT Thor
DioFoRio - 12/15/2012, 9:16 PM
he's probably working on a bunch of projects at the same time and his art is suffering. Not terrible just serviceable.
DoctorDoak - 12/15/2012, 9:25 PM
Ewww.

I don't care about the beard/long hair. As Dionysios pointed out, it's technically story-related.

It's just... like look at his leg in that cover where he's throwing a punch. Legs don't do that. JRjr isn't even trying anymore.
JustDame - 12/15/2012, 9:47 PM
I wonder if we'll see Bucky in Remender's Cap.
jambabeanjuice - 12/15/2012, 10:16 PM
I don't know why but this book (mainly the art) gives me a Ronin vibe by Frank Miller.
JorLBola - 12/15/2012, 10:20 PM
Steve looks like a grown Dave Lizewski ... :/
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 12/15/2012, 10:21 PM
Never liked Jr. His father was good. Too bad it was not in the genes...

That is the only thing keeping me from buying the book.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 12/15/2012, 10:23 PM
Yeah, @Bola, Jr. can't add variety and individuality to any of his characters.
DioFoRio - 12/15/2012, 10:27 PM
too bad kirby didn't pass on his art gene to one of his kids..that guy was amazing.
CaptainAustralia - 12/15/2012, 11:34 PM
Why the f*ck is Thor hanging out with Hitgirl..?
GhostZillaRider - 12/15/2012, 11:51 PM
NEVER cared for JRJR's art, and that was in the 90's when I first started reading comics. As @hope420 pointed out, his art hasn't changed, and in this instance, it isn't a good thing.
I mean, I understand the whole Mike Allred thing. (I don't care for it personally, but I get it.) His style is throwback. But what the hell can you say about JRJR? Could somebody please explain it to me? Is there something technical that makes people think that he's good, or is it just personal preference?
Either way, I personally don't care for it. This is one of those few instances where the art actually keeps me from buying the book, because it's so bad that it's distracting.
And to all of you who might ask the question; No. I can't do better. I just expect that if I'm paying $4 an issue, the artist drawing it can.
DoctorDoak - 12/15/2012, 11:58 PM
@Intruder: Yes, most legs bend (mine don't, my joints have recently been locked into a ridit position with bolts after a recent forklift accident / conspiracy.)

Anyway -- the way he's drawing the bend is placing Cap in an imposible place. His knee is hidging sideways. Knees don't do that. The set up of both legs and both feet are physically impossible.
Jollem - 12/16/2012, 12:18 AM
jrjr. has always been quality
InfiniteMonkey - 12/16/2012, 12:56 AM
Must be a REDNECK theme running these days.

Uhhh...I'll pass.
mctrinket - 12/16/2012, 1:00 AM
Is Cap in The Walking Dead comic now?
Shamo - 12/16/2012, 6:02 AM
the hands down worst comic artist of all time. the book looks disgustingly amateurish.
marvel72 - 12/16/2012, 6:35 AM
john romita jr use to be a good artist when he was drawing uncanny x-men & daredevil in the 80s.
Supernature - 12/16/2012, 7:51 AM
*sigh*

I like the coloring at least...
pointman - 12/16/2012, 8:08 AM
I LOVED JRJR's work pre X-men 190 (ah those were the days), but I think the reason why marvel uses him so much is due to him being able to churn out so much work on time and at an increased volume. I think artist way back when were not the prima donnas that we are getting now sans the artwork.
WakeUp - 12/16/2012, 9:07 AM
No...the art is just weak....people complain about Greg land photo copying style stinking, but honestly the detail in JrJr blends together worse.... Cap looks exactly like Thor.
spidermanfan2099 - 12/16/2012, 10:02 AM
Beautiful artwork... all the JrJr haters can go suck it, not accounting for taste!!
DoctorDoak - 12/16/2012, 4:47 PM
@Intruder:

Good point, but the problem is no one, not even Cap, could do that unless their leg hinged at a second point, beneath the knee, at the top of his boot... His thigh is pointing forward but his shin is jutting out at a 90 degree angle to his left, while his toes remains grounded and level with the horizon. So he either has two knees on that leg, or he dislocated his hip and knee to stand like that, or... JRjr screwed up. The position is just not humanly possible.
M3T4LL0 - 12/16/2012, 7:33 PM
Artwork [frick]ing sucks ass. What kind of drugs is this guy on? I can draw a better picture with my penis.
DoctorDoak - 12/16/2012, 9:46 PM
@Intuder: I honestly like his style -- it's somewhat similar to Mike Mignola's and I'm a big fan of his. It's really just JRjr's anatomical understanding that bugs me :/
pepe - 12/17/2012, 1:49 AM
They acually pay this dude to draw like Shit?
pepe - 12/17/2012, 5:05 AM
...????
plasticman - 12/17/2012, 6:50 AM
I have no words or witty sayings to say how disappointed I am with the way the imaging is being done on this book.
