If recent reports are to be believed, the first issue of Kick-Ass 3 will go on sale this May. It follows the first two volumes of the series and a Hit-Girl spin-off which took place between the events of them both. Below is an excerpt from an interview with Mark Millar over at Comic Book Resources in which he discusses bringing the series to an end. We also have what appears to be the first piece of artwork - by Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America artist and co-creator John Romita Jr. - from the book. More can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page!

"When I started 'Kick-Ass' I knew what the final page of 'Kick-Ass 3' was going to be. It's a very logical conclusion. Not everybody gets out of this alive, as I'm sure you might expect. If someone puts on a wetsuit, a pair of gloves, some Timberland boots and picks up a pair of sticks, they're not automatically still going to be doing this when they're 40. If you're Dave Lizewski -- you're basically screwed when things get too much. You just have to turn around the wrong corner one night, and you're dead. So any one of these characters can die here, and there are deaths, but I'm saying nothing beyond that. It'll tie everything up, and Kick-Ass 3 will be the big goodbye in print form. This will close the door forever on Dave, Mindy, Chris, Big Daddy, The Colonel and that lovable masked dog that's been trained to bite testicles."

I was not a fan of K-A2. It was chaos and gore for the sake of it. Throw in JRJr.'s artwork and you've got something that embodies the word "Meh" perfectly.

Why are people here so cynical?
Seriously, why foster so much hate for one person you don't even know?
You don't care what he has to say, yet you have no problem clicking on the article, then READING WHAT HE HAS GOT TO SAY. Who gives a s**t about what YOU have to say? Jesus, cbm users are mostly narcisses who think they know better than the people who profession in what they do. They just criticize things and people because they have their own self-esteem issues and need to feed their superiority complex. Either that or they hide behind the animousity of the internet to say whatever immature thing comes to mind so they can't be judged negatively in real life over it. Pathetic people in simpler terms. Sooooo quick to judge, yet sooooo easy to offend.
CaptainObvious - 2/7/2013, 5:56 PM
@Jollem- So because we are not fans of Millar's work that automatically makes us losers. That sounds so cynical, I wouldn't be suprised if Millar himself wrote that.

It's our money going towards the product and it should be our voices to be heard. We are all aware of Millar's body of work because some of us actually bought his comics and therefore, we have the right to criticize all we want.
norseman79 - 2/7/2013, 7:20 PM
@CrimsonArk: BlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlahBlah. You're doing the same thing you know. You seem pretty offended yourself too. Animousity of the internet? wtf? Nvm I'll leave you alone.

@Jcameron Explain to me how you can equate one movie as being better than 2 movies combined... How exactly does that work? Are we talking review scores out of ten added together and compared to Kick-ass's single score? Or are we just analyzing the content of the 2 marvel movies combined vs. Kick-ass's content? The review scores would clearly favor Cap and Thor as they're 2 movies that were pretty well received. The latter is hard to measure. Cap and Thor merged into one big movie would be pretty epic imho. Even if it would make zero sense.

There's your pointless long winded reply quota for the week.
I liked Kick-Ass. *shrug* Cap and Thor are both better in my opinion though.
yingyangpalms - 2/7/2013, 7:42 PM
Kick-Ass the film was a better watch than either Cap or Thor but it kinda becomes unwatchable after a couple views. While it was more fun than those 2 films its arguable that its "better".
But why compare it to Marvels films which are nothing like it. Instead, lets compare Kick-Ass to another film about a pussy who wears a superhero costume and gets totally humiliated, robbed, beaten, stripped of his costume and forced to leave town penniless with his coward tail between his legs as he had enough beatings, suffered enough failures and just QUITS!
I'm talking about "The Dark Knight Rises" and yes, "Kick-Ass" is better than TDKR.

Actually, Kick-Ass would beat the holy living hell out of Nolan's Batman!!!!!!
Jollem - 2/7/2013, 8:02 PM
@CaptainObvious - oh no, i would never call anybody a loser. tho, i have dabbled in cynicism from time to time

everybody has the right to criticize, just as much as i believe i have the right to criticize criticism :)

if i were mark millar and somebody came up to me at a con all hostile-like and said; "you are a suck and a hack", i might reply; "okay, what have you done?"
CrimsonArk - 2/7/2013, 8:03 PM
@ norseman
Internet animousity plays a HUGE role in people's attitudes on the internet.
If people acted as immature and unresonable as the people on here all the time, nobody would want to be around you because you sound like a crybaby or someone who enjoys talking down to others whom they don't even personally know.

@ CaptainObvious
You do have the right to express what you want, but that doesn't mean it's right or reasonable. You have the right to be immature, but that doesn't make it any less so. Nobody here apperciates anything, they just judge, judge, judge, judge and judge because they don't have anything better to do. B*tch just to b*tch, hate just to hate, and purposely for anything to "validate" such statements. People on here take a stance and don't budge, they'll demand something, get it, then say they wanted something else just because they have a bias against it. And you people always wonder why directors, writers, and artists don't always listen to what the fans want.
First rule of making art of any medium (movies, comics, books, music, video games etc.) is pleasing yourself before pleasing others, a lot of people here don't seem to understand this, probably because they've never been in charge of anything with possible market appeal.
yingyangpalms - 2/7/2013, 9:16 PM
No need to fuss about Mark Millar. He does talk alot but he also makes great points such as his 100% accurate diagnosis of the inherit problems WB has in bringing the outdated and silly Justice League into live action.

Also, the M.F. has written the most entertaining comics in the past decade.
Ive read "Old Man Logan" in print but a couple days ago I downloaded it so I could have it on my PC. As I read it again with PDFlite which is great for comics it felt like I was watching a movie.
His MK Spider-Man 12 issue run was extraordinary.

So if hes got Kick-Ass 3 coming up-GREAT! Unless you want to settle for something like Dan Slott's Spider-Man mindswitch garbage or the other horrible comics Marvel Craps out.
Jollem - 2/7/2013, 9:32 PM
^outdated and silly? i respectfully disagree, sir. think of the possibilities. imagination is key

JacksonVegaIII - 2/8/2013, 2:24 AM
Kick Ass is one of the finest CBMS ever made, it kicks the shit outta all Marvels and Foxs efforts with ease and makes nolans batman movies seem a bit dull.

Visually Superb
Funny as fu.ck
Well written
Masterfully Directed
Perfectly Cast
excellent Ultra Violence

The final scene with Elvis 'american trilogy'+ jet pack + rocketlauncher....... christ I coulda wept it was so perfectly executed

xmen, capt', thor, ironman, avengers, spiderman movies dont even come close....
Fogs - 2/8/2013, 3:57 AM
Loved the movie. And I'm sorry for the JRJR art. He was among the best back in the day.
JacksonVegaIII - 2/8/2013, 4:39 AM
killerkooljames TBH I enjoyed it more than TDKR which I thought was a good conclusion to a great franchise, theyre very different films both are great examples of how cbms can and should be made. Vaughn and Nolan took kinda opposite approaches to making them and both did it very well, personally I enjoy Vaughns approach a little bit more is all, both Kick Ass and Nolans DK trilogy are in my top 10 cbms

1/Sin City
2/300
3/Kick Ass
4/TDK
5/Akira
6/Dredd
7/Watchmen (very flawed but has 3 or 4 of the greatest cbm scenes ever)
8/Batman Returns
9/BB
10/Chronicle
11/Unbreakable
12/Xmen 1st class
13/TDKR
14/The Amazing Spiderman
15/Ichi The Killer
16/Super
17/Hellboy 1/2
18/Road To Perdition
19/Iron Man
SmellofDuty - 2/8/2013, 5:44 AM
@JacksonVegalll Sorry ,but I must disagree A LOT. I'm a DC fanboy and I know that the Avengers should be in the top three!!!
Parkerluckpersonified - 2/8/2013, 6:25 AM
AAAAAHHHHH I'm excited!! For me Dave has to die, it's the only way he can become the hero. Dave has to die and Mindy has to finally move on somehow. ahhhh i hope it's good
JacksonVegaIII - 2/8/2013, 8:44 AM
SmellofDuty- Im more of a marvel guy myself but their MCU really doesnt do anything for me. Bland, middle of the road uninteresting films, I wish I felt different but I dont. walked out of The Avengers after 3omins at the cinema, couldnt be arsed with it.... Downey Jnrs alreet tho
HitGirl13 - 2/8/2013, 2:59 PM
I'm thinking Dave dies the hero but it's actually Mindy's fault he's dead and that's what finally gets her to move on. Or maybe they both die. Dave is Hit-Girl's little b*tch to begin with so he has to die a hero somehow.
