VIDEO: MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS Reassemble At The 85th Academy Awards

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) all took to the stage at last night's Academy Awards to present the "Best Visual Effects" gong. Find the video here!

If you weren't able to watch the Academy Awards last night, you'll be glad to know that we now have the video of Earth's Mightiest Heroes - or at least the actors who play them - reassembling on stage. While there were obviously no details about Joss Whedon's sequel to Marvel's The Avengers revealed (c'mon, were you really expecting any?), it's a fun little segment full of the sort of banter we've come to expect from this fantastic group of performers. Unfortunately, the superhero ensemble walked away empty handed from last night's awards ceremony...

the fact that THE AVENGERS got nominated was good enough for me. Congrats to them nonetheless.

if wb doesn't [frick] up somehow, i think man of steel can be both a blockbuster and oscar hit. that trailer looked like some terrence malick shit.

The academy awards suck for snobing some past films and especially that Skyfall is not even nominated as best director or best picture. In 2008 they snob the dark knight for best picture when that was the best in that year, also that year Wall-e was better than any films that came out that year, if you considered animation to be part of best picture.

Inception was the best one in 2010 and far better than the social network. Why the hell did a movie based on Facebook won over Inception? The Academy awards this year sucked, I tuned in for the walking dead instead. The academy awards is just a bunch of rich Hollywood stars gloating with riches and how they say they are the best. I do agree there are some gret actors and actress but the academy awards pick and choose.

@TTMWTCS I think MOS will be both, the visual effects look amazing and has potential to be the greatest CBM ever.

I didn't understand the logic of having them present an award that there movie was nominated for. But it was awesome seeing them on stage :)

The Acadamy chose poorly this year. as they always do. Argo has to be one of the most overrated movies i've seen in a very long time.

RDJ is the same height as Renner and Ruffalo. He must be wearing giant sized lifts to look about the same as Evans.

I don't pick on a guy for his height. But c'mon RDJ, you're supposed to be the coolest of us.

I usually think the Oscars is pure crap but I have to say they got it right last night for once but of course that is my opinion!

Scarlett Johansson did not appear because she is starring in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway. (And she's very, very good in it, by the way.) If she had been nominated for Best Actress - as Jessica Chastain, who is also currently in a Broadway show, was - then she probably would have taken the night off and gone.

@xXkryptoniteXx Skyfall was a brilliant film but every movie nominated for Best Picture and Best Director deserved their nominations more than Skyfall, because they were better films.

2008 wasn't a great year for film, and I personally think The Wrestler should've won. The Dark Knight didn't stand a chance though - again, it's a brilliant film, but not THAT good.

2010 - Actually, The King's Speech won that year, not The Social Network. Inception is a fantastic film, and probably deserved a nomination. The Social Network is a great movie, and deserved to be on that list. The King's Speech was amazing, and rightfully won.

And Wall-E wouldn't have been nominated for Best Picture that year, as animated movies have their own separate category - Best Animated Feature. For it to be nominated for Best Picture, it'd have to be an incredible film. Only like three animated movies have ever been nominated for Best Picture - Beauty and the Beast, Up, and Toy Story 3. Wall-E wasn't as good as them, so it didn't deserve a nomination.

This year was actually a very good year. Argo was a fantastic movie, and deserved to win, but for the first time in a long time all of the nominees would've been worthy winners. And you really shouldn't complain - considering how CBMs and such films normally fare, this was a fantastic year - Skyfall won two Oscars, Avengers was nominated for one...

And, just so you know, the Academy is made up of representatives for each branch of filmmaking - for example, Michael Moore represents Documentary makers, Kathryn Bigalow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty), Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are Alright) and Michael Mann (The Last of The Mohicans) represent directors, Kathleen Kennedy, Gale Anne Hurd and Hawk Koch represent producers, John Lasseter and Bill Kroyer represent animation, etc. It's an organisation consisting of people working in the film industry, not just random people who know nothing about movies.

@jCameron I hate to say this, but I agree with you. If Avengers had won, everyone here would be praising the Oscars.

it's great AND expected for the academy to invite them for the ceremony. Hey! they need to look current, right? too bad though the whole banters and interactions weren't captured too well by the show's director, who seemed like he got NO clue as to what the cast were gonna do or say.

the whole segment felt a bit awkward and 'off'.

well, anyway..just like seeing both pacino and de niro presenting an award together several months BEFORE Heat came out, this one's a pretty cool choice of presenters.
