Michael Rooker Comments On GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Casting Buzz
The Walking Dead actor (who previously worked with director James Gunn on Slither) put himself forward for a role in Guardians of the Galaxy last year, but he has now made it clear that being friends with the director doesn't mean he's automatically a part of the movie.
Talking at a special panel at the Emerald City Comicon today, Michael Rooker was asked about the casting buzz surrounding him and James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Last year, The Walking Dead actor speculated that he could reunite with the Slither director for Marvel Studios' first trip into outer space, before going so far as to tell fans to start campaigning for him to voice Rocket Raccoon; a suggestion which was met with a VERY positive response from fans. Here is what Rooker said about exactly that (many thanks to Comic Book Resources for the following excerpt).
He turned aside questions of whether he'd appear in Gunn's upcoming film take on "Guardians of the Galaxy," saying, "Just because you're friends with James Gunn doesn't mean you're gonna be in his movie."
There's not a lot to go on here, but his response was neither a definitive "Yes" or "No" answer. With David Batista and Jason Momoa reportedly competing for the role of Drax and the search for Rocket Raccoon coming to a close, there aren't an awful lot of roles left for Rooker. Here's hoping that Gunn finds one, eh? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!
