Ya the description sums it up pretty well... not a fan unfortunately. This could have been one of the best marvel now books but it looks like I'll be dropping it.
CrimsonComedian - 3/11/2013, 9:08 PM
^Agreed. Looks like I'm not reading Hulk anymore. It've seen better art in the Sunday paper.
FreakingIntelligentRobertGriffin - 3/11/2013, 9:09 PM
Ugly ass art. Get Leinil back! Throw a goddawn boat! Filipinos cannot resist boats.
jerryblake - 3/11/2013, 9:09 PM
chaos ... i can't even see who is fighting who ...
ATrueHero1987 - 3/11/2013, 9:10 PM
Why is Thor back in his original costume?
StarkAnthony - 3/11/2013, 9:11 PM
Is Hulk really gonna pick up the Hammer? If everyone is worthy enough to pick it up then is isn't very special
HellsHammer - 3/11/2013, 9:13 PM
That art is horrible
JDUKE25 - 3/11/2013, 9:14 PM
Wow....that looks terrible.
Shadowelfz - 3/11/2013, 9:21 PM
Yeah it looks like an 8th grader trying to make manga for the first time. Bad art.
ckal - 3/11/2013, 9:23 PM
If Hulk picks up Mjolnir, Marvel is truly lost.

I doubt it would happen, but you can never be quite sure.
JayOh - 3/11/2013, 9:23 PM
Dropped. Wtf is up with Thors throwback duds?
Franshu - 3/11/2013, 9:23 PM
Bad art.
csdot - 3/11/2013, 9:30 PM
hating on Walt Simonson art? with Thor nonetheless?? what bizarro world is this??
captainrogers - 3/11/2013, 9:40 PM
Dang, I used to LOVE Walt's work.
I won't drop this book.
Writer and Story trump art, for me.
Artists will rotate I'm sure.
niceguyeddie - 3/11/2013, 9:42 PM
I dunno. I prefer Yu but this guy is still a little better than JRJR. No children with huge bulbous heads I mean.
CorronZenith30 - 3/11/2013, 9:47 PM
Nah, not really a fan.. no
CorronZenith30 - 3/11/2013, 9:49 PM
Drop the hammer!

SamHell - 3/11/2013, 10:06 PM
That Hulk looks like sh!t, and I love the Hulk
birdfists - 3/11/2013, 10:19 PM
Terrible art, but I kind of like/hate Thor going back to his classic costume even if it's just the artist shitting the bed and having no idea what he's doing.
number1hero - 3/11/2013, 10:30 PM
Hulk looks like he's constipated..
Mercwitham0uth - 3/11/2013, 10:34 PM
Awful artwork.
Superguy15 - 3/11/2013, 10:46 PM
Is this just fill-in issue? I hope so...
TheGodKiller - 3/11/2013, 10:54 PM
Crap!!! Looks very very bad!!! At first I thought the art belonged in the newspaper comic section but it just kept getting worse. Hulk doesn't even look like Hulk. I will never touch that comic. Crash and Burn Baby! Crash and Burn!
superotherside - 3/11/2013, 11:15 PM
Wow, terrilbe art. Great series though. Hope they don't ruin it.
staypuffed - 3/11/2013, 11:18 PM
Must be in the minority here, but I don't mind the art.
ComicBookGoth - 3/11/2013, 11:52 PM
hating on this art is akin to those hating on the new art on the current captain marvel art team.

Simonson's art isn't bad, stylized yes.
but far FAR from bad.

i dig it.

eDubya72 - 3/11/2013, 11:57 PM
While this is certainly different, it's actually refreshing to see a different drawing style. It's actually exciting to look at the pictures without any dialogue yet.I believe the people who dislike the art are simply more comfortable with the more common styles that have been rinsed, reused and recycled. "How exciting, the same stuff! Yeah, but this is crap..."
RandyBobandy - 3/12/2013, 12:04 AM
I think it's just the art and colors not matching up well. That classic style needs flatter colors, looks weird with shading.
ScionStorm - 3/12/2013, 12:31 AM
It's not the rendering. I think it's the coloring in general is not being utilized toward Simonson's style. It feel like the colors are actually fighting against the B/W in places.

Get a better colorist who can sync up with Simonson. All will be well. He's a great storyteller.
SageMode - 3/12/2013, 12:42 AM
Get Leinil Yu back on this. I never gave a Shit about Simonson's art.
smartell511 - 3/12/2013, 1:10 AM
ugly
jimoakley666 - 3/12/2013, 1:40 AM
I wonder how many people on here don't even realise that Walt Simonson was changing the comic book world for the better when their mother's were sucking on their own mother's tit? Without guys like this changing it up in the day, guys like Yu possibly wouldn't have a chance in the comic industry. You don't like it, fine. It was never my cup of tea. But show the dude a little respect, at least.
GURILLAPUD - 3/12/2013, 2:17 AM
As an artist myself I hate when people call other artist work ugly, If you can't do better shut the f@#k up!
jimoakley666 - 3/12/2013, 2:49 AM
@gurillapud - Exactly.
Jerec350 - 3/12/2013, 3:51 AM
I can't draw worth a crap but as a customer I feel I have the right to criticize any artwork I feel is ugly. Like the preview above. If I'm spending my hard earned cash on a product then I have the right to speak my opinion on said product. The mentality of "if you can't do better then don't say anything" applied to everything then nothing would ever improve. I can't make a car either so if I say the PT Cruiser is a piece of crap (I earned the right to say it since I used to own one) I'm wrong?
CorronZenith30 - 3/12/2013, 3:58 AM
Though I'm not huge fan of this art persay, I would by no means call it ugly - especially when he can draw a darn sight blooming better than me!
CorronZenith30 - 3/12/2013, 4:05 AM
But freedom of speech n all, I get it. We are all entitled to speak our mind as we'll - due to having an invested interest, like being a customer.. I agree with that
CorronZenith30 - 3/12/2013, 4:14 AM
BTW those pics of beta ray bill look awesome!
UVLantern - 3/12/2013, 5:17 AM
Aaaaand dropped
NorrinRaddical - 3/12/2013, 5:30 AM
seriously, anyone hating on Simonson drawing Thor or doing splash pages has NO respect for the history. What a shame.

I met him a few years back; he's not only a humble legend, but absolutely hilarious and quick witted.
NorrinRaddical - 3/12/2013, 5:32 AM
@ ScionStorm - I'll concede, the coloring is not doing him justice. Too bright and flat?
beetheb - 3/12/2013, 5:37 AM
This entire comments section fails horribly. No, Walt's pencils aren't as tight or meticulously pored over as many contemporary artists, but that was never what he was about. He came up in a time when dynamic Kirby-esque art with more exaggerated proportions and a much more free flowing style were the norm, and he was pushing the comic book art form forward when guys like Bryan Hitch and Leinil Yu were just a twinkle in their daddy's eye.

I think the art in this preview is a little rough and not his best, but when you consider the fact that Walt's pushing 70, is from a completely different era artistically that had very different aesthetics, and is still knocking out major titles alongside the young virtuosos, I can't help but respect both the man and the effort.

TheAcidSkull - 3/12/2013, 5:45 AM
This is Just for a [frick]ing arc people, walter isn't staying, and if you are willing to drop a book because of the art then [frick]ing idiotic. at least this has good writing, unlike the stuff bendis makes.
beetheb - 3/12/2013, 5:47 AM
Also, after a second closer look, I take back my previous statement about the art here being a little rough: It's some of the best stuff I've seen from him in awhile and he definitely brought his A game.

And Walt won't be a long term artist anyway, he's probably doing a fill in arc while either Yu or another artists catches up or works ahead.

And that's another thing I like about guys like Walt and JRJR-- you don't have to wait 3 months for them to finish a single issue.
jimoakley666 - 3/12/2013, 6:21 AM
Jerec350- By all means, if people don't like it, that's a more than fair comment. But the idiots comparing a trained artist's work to the scribbling of a four year old are moronic to say the least.

But equally, if you don't like it, why would you buy it? I don't understand that logic.

walt simonson is a f*ckin legend, loved his run on x-factor & he also drew the greatest run on the mighty thor.

DangerDuck83 - 3/12/2013, 6:53 AM
WTF!!! The art sucks!!! Mark Waid and Leinil Yu is one of the best creative teams today and Marvel had to ruin it!!! Get Leinil back!!!
KeefNCookies - 3/12/2013, 7:01 AM
How do you switch from the first artist to this one..? Nonsense and madness.
DangerDuck83 - 3/12/2013, 7:20 AM
Also how many times are they gonna do "Hulk picks up Thor's hammer" bit? Enough already!
TheAcidSkull - 3/12/2013, 7:20 AM
