What If? HART OF DIXIE's Cress Williams Shows Us His Take On A Scene From GREEN LANTERN

As a part of The Hollywood Reporter's new web series (which sees actors recreating scenes from movies which they wish they had gotten a role in), Cress Williams shows off his take on a big scene from 2011's Green Lantern. Would he make a good John Stewart?

Powerful stuff, eh? While he may have been recreating a scene as Hal Jordan, Williams' reciting of the Green Lantern oath seems to be proof enough that he would make for an awesome John Stewart! This "audition" is the latest instalment in a new web series from The Hollywood Reporter in which they give TV stars the opportunity to try out for the big screen roles they wish they had gotten. A future instalment will apparently feature the recreation of a scene from The Dark Knight...

If they ever choose to reboot Green Lantern for the Justice League movie, II really hope they go with him.
RedHood13 - 3/20/2013, 10:46 AM
Cool. Maybe he could be John Stewart
BlueMex - 3/20/2013, 10:48 AM

Gusto was there as well but things turned awkward when he removed everthing but his robe and mask:

You who are wicked, evil and mean,

I'm the nastiest creep you've ever seen!

Come one, come all, put up a fight

I'll pound your arse with Green Lantern's light!

His voice was amazing when he did the oath, I could see him doing John Stewart.
Splenda - 3/20/2013, 10:57 AM
John is waaaay more serious than Hal though.

Hehe, you should see Gusto reciting the oath. Well, uh..More like tryin' to recite the oath..

He's got his little emerald green bathrobe on (Says he "picked it up" during his drunken travels. I'm still waiting for him to explain the giant hole cut into the back..Quick bathroom access maybe?), slips on his domino mask ("Liberated" it from the dining room during the masquerade ball of '23..He's still not allowed to enter Chicago without goin' through legal red-tape), he's finally ready to get to work..

"In bri--*hic* In brightest day, in blackest night..No evil sha--*sniffle, hic* no evil shall..

Wait, how'd--How'd Battlegoat turn yellow? Iz--Izzat a [frick]ing mustache on 'im?!? Eh, who cares..Where's the battery..Gotta recharge this [frick]ing ring. Oh, *picks up Heineken* here it is..Found ya.."

You should see 'im after he's had a bottle of vodka..

:P

ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 3/20/2013, 11:11 AM
that was [frick]ing awkward.

DC should reboot GL with Hal, and then make a GL Corps film with John & Guy at the helm. Just like the current run in the comics I still think you have to have Hal in JL.
MutantEquality - 3/20/2013, 11:27 AM
I care more to see things like SINESTRO WAR and BLACKEST NIGHT than which Green Lantern is shown.

Just do another movie!

Agreed awkward. Ex-cape my sight. John Stewart would never mis-pronounce the oath. Fail
Netman0007 - 3/20/2013, 12:19 PM
If they use John Stewart, they had better not write him like how they wrote Hal Jordan, i.e. a COMPLETE douchebag. You can't be "smarter" than the source material. John Stewart (and the REAL Hal Jordan for that matter) need to take this shit as serious as possible.

They need to do the no nonsense John Stewart. Not this shitty joke, cocky douchebag routine that they wrote for Reynolds to do.

@ Cipher
I just spit my tasty lunch beverage all over my desk .. reading Gusto's take on the Lantern's Oath. I would pay good money to see Gusto's take on Green Lantern.

So Mr. Williams performs a cold read for fun and folks get bent out of shape over how he pronounces 1 word? Really?
Nathan - 3/20/2013, 1:33 PM
He has an awesome voice, it's deep and heroic just like the John Stewart from the animated series and what I would imagine the comic counterpart to sound like. He looks the part as well, why did they cut his cameo? Pssht!
AnimatedTdot - 3/20/2013, 1:55 PM
i like this idea, would love to see some unknowns get a gig of of these audition remakes.
soda9 - 3/20/2013, 2:34 PM
JOHN STEWART!
thatcoldblackcloud - 3/20/2013, 8:12 PM
I dont mean to sound racist, but the one true Green Lantern is NOT a "brother", he's WHITE and his name is Hal Jordan. PERIOD.
Nomis - 3/20/2013, 9:52 PM
